Dana Perino shares the advice she wishes she heard years ago in new book 'I Wish Someone Had Told Me'

Fox News22-04-2025
Fox News Channel's Dana Perino has advice she wants to share, and she's put it in writing.
The New York Times bestselling author's latest book, "I Wish Someone Had Told Me: The Best Advice for Building a Great Career and a Meaningful Life," hits stores today and reflects on the guidance Perino wished she'd received earlier in life.
Drawing from her own experiences and those of people in her orbit, the book offers a collection of practical advice and personal stories designed to inspire readers at any stage of their journey.
Perino, co-anchor of "America's Newsroom" and co-host of "The Five," brings her signature mentorship style to the page, featuring insights from familiar Fox News colleagues and close friends.
"I am friends with people who have incredible stories," Perino said in an interview with "Fox & Friends" Tuesday.
"They've changed careers. They've become mothers and fathers. They've retired into next chapters, and they've figured out… that work-life balance that everybody's looking for."
Among those featured in the book are "Special Report" anchor Bret Baier, "Jesse Watters Primetime" host Jesse Watters, "Fox & Friends" co-host Ainsley Earhardt, "The Story" anchor Martha MacCallum, and even country music star Dierks Bentley.
Perino says what makes these voices stand out is how hard they've worked to get where they are.
"One of the things that's a joy about working with the people here who contributed to this book is that a lot of people didn't come from trust funds," she said.
"You worked hard, you worked everywhere. I was a country music DJ. I worked overnights during college so that I could get into the TV business. And then I went into politics, and then I was able to come back here and, over time, was given opportunities that are incredible."
"I Wish Someone Had Told Me" helps readers tackle relatable challenges, including navigating burnout, managing relationships, and making space for life beyond work, offering wisdom and encouragement for anyone striving to build a life they love.
The author told "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy that the wisdom he offered in the book has already made an impression on "Jesse Watters Primetime" producer Johnny Belisario.
"He read it over the weekend, and your piece of advice in the back… is his favorite story in the book," Perino recalled. "It basically is: be nice to everybody."
"I Wish Someone Had Told Me" is Perino's fourth book, with the previous three becoming New York Times Bestellers. In her past work, she's opened up about her career path, including her time as White House press secretary under President George W. Bush and over a decade with Fox News Channel.
Perino is also the founder of Minute Mentoring, a program that connects young women with leaders across industries.
"I Wish Someone Had Told Me" is available now at bookstores and major retailers.

‘KPop Demon Hunters' Back on Top of Netflix Most-Watched Movies List With 26 Million Views 9 Weeks After Premiere

"Wednesday" Season 2 dominated the TV list for the second week in a row The 'KPop Demon Hunters' craze is not over yet. The animated movie bounced back to the top of Netflix's top 10 movies list as it tallied up 26 million views during the week of Aug. 11, nine weeks after its premiere. In recent weeks, viewership for 'KPop Demon Hunters' has remained relatively stagnant, with the movie scoring 25.9 million views during the week of Aug. 4 and 26.3 million views during the week of July 28. This week, viewership for 'KPop Demon Hunters' outpaced that of 'Night Always Comes,' which came in second place with 11.3 million views, as well as 'My Oxford Year,' which came in third place this week with 11 million views. On the TV side, 'Wednesday' Season 2 dominated the most-watched TV list for the second week in a row. After debuting to a massive 50 million views last week, 'Wednesday' Season 2 scored another 29.1 million views, bringing its total viewership up to 79.1 million views, just about 15 million views shy of the viewership needed to make it onto Netflix's most popular TV shows of all time list. 'Wednesday' Season 2 would need to beat the 94.8 million views scored by 'Stranger Things 3' to climb into the most popular TV list, a feat that can likely completed next week. And that's not even factoring in the second half of 'Wednesday' Season 2, which is slated to drop on Sept. 3. Like last week, Season 1 got a boost from the Season 2 debut, tallying up 7.4 million views as the third most-watched show of the week. Between 'Wednesday' Seasons 1 and 2 on the week's top 10 list was 'Fit for TV: the Reality of 'The Biggest Loser,'' which scored 7.5 million views as the week's No. 2 most-watched show. Fox News Host Has Lame Defense For Why Gavin Newsom's Tweets Are Bad, But Trump's Are Not

Fox Newshost Dana Perino attempted to defend her pearl-clutching towardCalifornia Gov. Gavin Newsom's trend oftrolling tweets on Tuesday's episode of'The Five.' But doing so required her to ignore the reason for the governor's recent mockery of Donald Trump's social media style and insisted Newsom is just being a copycat. Newsom has recently been mocking MAGA by mimicking the president's all-caps online posts, complete with insults and ludicrously narcissistic praise of himself. In the process, Trump lovers like Kid Rock have gotten themselves in a MAGA tizzy over the posts. On Monday, Perino suggested with a straight face that Newsom has 'to stop it with the Twitter thing,' claiming he was 'making a fool' of himself in the process. Many people on social media mocked Perino's complaints about Newsom's posts because many of them are direct copies of previous Trump posts. As a result, she faced accusations of hypocrisy and having a partisan double standard where mean tweets are concerned. Related: Newsom's Press Office responded with an all-caps post that began, 'DANA 'DING DONG' PERINO (NEVER HEARD OF HER UNTIL TODAY!) IS MELTING DOWN BECAUSE OF ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM!' Perino attempted to defend her pearl-clutching by saying, 'We get the joke,' though her excuse required her to be humorless. Related: 'He was reading tweets that were written for him by people that he is heavily investing in to try to help him look more like Trump, I guess,' she said. 'I mean, I thought they hated Trump, but they're trying to be more like him and they have to pay people to do it.' She also insisted that the problem she had with Newsom's posts is that they weren't authentic. She added: 'You're trying to do somebody else who you say is Hitler, and you think that we don't get the joke. Oh, no, we get the joke. It's just not funny.' Perino's co-host, Jesse Watters, also seemed a bit miffed at Newsom for following the lead of the GOP's fearless leader. 'They claim conservatives don't get the joke, we do ― we just think you look like a tool,' he said without irony. Both Perino and Watters' lame defenses of their partisan double standards were mocked by others on social media. Related...
