Honorarium of cooks, watchmen & instructors doubled: Nitish
"The honorarium for cooks working under the education department's midday meal programme has been doubled from Rs 1,650 to Rs 3,300 per month. Similarly, the honorarium for night guards in the secondary/higher secondary schools has also been doubled from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month," the CM said in a post on X.
"The remuneration for physical education & health instructors has also been doubled from Rs 8,000 to Rs 16,000 per month.
Additionally, their annual salary increment has also been doubled from Rs 200 to Rs 400. This will boost the morale of the working personnel, encouraging them to perform their duties with greater enthusiasm and dedication," Nitish said in the post in Hindi.
In the beginning of his post, Nitish said, "Since the formation of the govt in Nov 2005, we have been consistently working to improve the education system. In 2005, the total budget of education (dept) was Rs 4,366 crore, which has now increased to Rs 77,690 crore.
Significant improvements in the education system have been made through the appointment of a large number of teachers, construction of new school buildings, and development of infrastructure.
"
"Cooks, night guards, and physical education & health instructors have played an important role in strengthening the education system. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to double the honorarium of these personnel by making a "respectable increase" in their remuneration," the CM said.
Welcoming the govt's decision, JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha on Friday said by doubling the honorarium of these personnel, the CM has once again proven that his governance style is a testament to human sensitivity, social justice, and inclusive development. "This decision will instil pride, stability, and hope in the thousands of families," Kushwaha said.

MNS workers barge into cabin of Pune civic chief; cops to register offence
Last Updated: Pune, Aug 6 (PTI) A high drama unfolded at Pune Municipal Corporation on Wednesday evening when a former corporator of MNS and his supporters barged into the cabin of civic chief Navalkishore Ram when he was addressing a meeting. The situation escalated when Ram allegedly told the ex-corporator Kishore Shinde to leave his office in Hindi, prompting Shinde to object and demand that Ram speak in Marathi. As the situation escalated, security personnel escorted Shinde and his supporters out of the office. They were later taken to Shivajinagar police station. Police are registering an offence against Shinde and other party members under section 132 (Assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Shinde and his supporters reached the municipal commissioner's office to hand over a memorandum seeking clarification on media reports that claimed some items from the official residence of the PMC chief had gone missing before Ram shifted there. 'I was busy in a meeting when some people ( including Shinde) barged into the cabin. I was talking to him in Marathi and questioned his behaviour, and told him to go out in Hindi. He picked up that one line and created a Marathi-Hindi issue. He also threatened me and tried to heckle me. His behaviour was highly objectionable and unruly," Ram told PTI. The municipal commissioner alleged that Shinde entered the cabin with a plan to create a ruckus. 'I've worked in Maharashtra for many years, but I have never seen such behaviour," Ram added. Shinde, however, claimed that Ram called him a 'MNS goon". When asked whether he heckled Ram, Shinde said one can check the CCTV footage. MNS functionaries claimed they went to the PMC commissioner's office to demand an inquiry into the 'missing" household items in the official residence of the civic chief located in Model Colony. Ram, however, claimed that Shinde and other workers were not carrying any documents or memorandum when they stormed into his cabin. Ram stated that he had ordered an inquiry into the alleged disappearance of household items, including antique lamps, chandeliers, an air-conditioned unit, and television sets. Ram's predecessor Rajendra Bhosale occupied the official residence before his retirement. PTI SPK NSK view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Nitish dedicated himself for devp of Bihar: Minister
Patna: State's rural works minister Ashok Choudhary on Wednesday said just as Arjuna in the Mahabharata focused on the eye of the fish to achieve his target, similarly, CM Nitish Kumar , has dedicated himself day and night to the comprehensive development of Bihar, creating plans to ensure benefits reach the last poorest person in society. Addressing a 'Jan Samvad' programme near Chainpur in Kaimur district, he said the visionary thinking of the CM has made education a powerful medium for social change. In 2005, the state's dropout rate was 10.5%, which has now reduced to less than 1%. "For the first time in the country, children from the mahadalit, minority, and extremely backward classes were integrated into the mainstream of education through schemes like Talimi Markaz and Tola Sevak. Initiatives like the school uniform scheme and bicycle scheme have successfully brought millions of girls to school," he said. "Months before Nitish took the charge of the CM in Nov 2005, only 4 lakh students appeared for the matriculation examination, but today, this number exceeds 18 lakh, including 8.5 lakh girls—presenting a clear picture of women's empowerment in Bihar," Choudhary pointed out. While referring to other schemes related to women's empowerment, Choudhary said, "Two unique schemes of the Nitish govt—Jeevika Didi and Didi Ki Rasoi—have become examples nationwide. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 3BHK Transformation Possible for ₹4.5 Lakh? A budget provision of Rs 225.78 crore for the "Mahila Samvad" programme in FY 2024-25 is also evidence of the CM's women-centric thinking. " He also said that these efforts have been praised by the World Bank, UNICEF, and various national and international organisations. The 'Bihar model' is considered an inspiring example in the field of women's empowerment, adopted by other states as well, Choudhary said. Hours before addressing the 'Jan Samvad' programme, the minister reviewed his department's schemes and roads in Bhabua and Chainpur assembly constituencies of Kaimur district. State's minority welfare minister Jama Khan and the Bihar Rajya Nagrik Parishad general secretary Chhotu Singh were also present on the occasion.

DMK to stage protest against centralised recruitment for Jipmer jobs
Leader of Opposition and DMK convenor R. Siva said his party would stage a protest in front of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (Jipmer) on Friday against the practice of imposing user fee for services and the centralised recruiting policy that would deepen the marginalisation of local job-seekers. In a statement, Mr. Siva expressed concern that, despite the long-pending demand for increased local representation, the institution's adoption of the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) model, based on the AIIMS in Delhi, would further reduce employment prospects for candidates from the region. The DMK leader also took exception to the bilingual (Hindi and English) nature of entrance tests and the special age relaxation offered to Union Government employees, stating that these measures placed Tamil and English-speaking local candidates at a clear disadvantage. He called upon Jipmer authorities to revert to the earlier recruitment system for nursing and Group B and C posts in place of the CRE, and to reserved 50% of posts for domicile job aspirants. According to the DMK leader, Jipmer had, on July 22, announced that recruitment to 454 vacancies for nursing officers, 446 in Puducherry and eight in Yanam, would be held through CRE. He pointed out that when Jipmer conducted its recruitments, many local aspirants had managed to secure remunerative job positions. However, the adoption of a common entrance test will result in local job avenues being opened to candidates across India. 'We will oppose a recruitment model that allows candidates who do not know the local language to enter jobs that require dealing with primarily poor patients and is exclusionary for the unemployed youth in the region', he said. Jipmer, which owes a large part of its success to the access to Puducherry's land, water, and power, should not turn its back on the local people now, Mr. Siva said.
