Decked is paying 100 dads to take a day off: Nominate yours for DTO here
Father's Day is almost here and if there's one thing we don't get enough of, it's time with dad. A survey by the auto parts manufacturer Decked found that 65% of dads have missed an important event or activity with their child due to work and 43% feel a financial pressure when they take time off to be with their kids.
Decked is trying to alleviate that strain by offering 100 dads a whole day of lost wages through their Dad Time Off (DTO) program. Anyone across the U.S. can nominate a dedicated dad for this opportunity at the Decked website by submitting a short explanation of why they deserve it.
Decked will select 100 dads and cover their wages for the day so that time can be spent with family, and without any stress.

Denny Hamlin will miss NASCAR's first Cup race in Mexico following birth of son
NASCAR star Denny Hamlin got an early Father's Day Gift. Hamlin announced that he will miss the Cup Series' first ever race in Mexico this weekend following the birth of his son. Hamlin and fiancée Jordan Fish also share daughters Taylor James, 12, and Molly Gold Hamlin, 7. Advertisement "We are happy to announce the birth of our son," Hamlin announced on social media on June 12. "Everyone is doing well. My main priority is to be here at home for Jordan and our family over the next few days when she is able to go home and we transition to life as a family of five." Hamlin previously hinted at skipping the Viva México 250 earlier this week as his family awaited baby Hamlin's arrival, citing the distance between his North Carolina home and Mexico City as his main concern. "Ultimately I need to be there for her," Hamlin said during a June 10 interview on SiriusXM NASCAR. "I'm just going to make sure I spend the proper time with her. The racing will come second this week.' Advertisement Hamlin is expected to return to racing next weekend. He signed off his birth announcement, writing, "See you guys in Pocono," referring to the Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway on June 22. It's been an eventful month for Hamlin. Not only did the Hamlin family welcome baby No. 3, he also picked up his third NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 8. Hamlin has 57 wins in his Cup Series career, which ranks 11th on the all-time list. While a championship has eluded him, he finished runner-up in 2010 and third three times (2006, 2014 and 2021). Drivers departed for Mexico City on Thursday with practice for the Viva Mexico 250 beginning Saturday ahead of the Sunday's June 15 Cup race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Advertisement Ryan Truex will drive the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota in Mexico City, the team announced on June 12, stating that JGR intends to apply for "a waiver to maintain his status for the 2025 Playoffs." NASCAR classifies the birth of a child as an exemption to its Playoff Waiver System, meaning Hamlin should be eligible to compete for the 2025 Cup Series championship later this year. Flowers for Fathers Day
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (\KLO) The Flower Mill is a busy place leading up to Mother's Day. That isn't the case this week. 'I guess people don't really think about flowers for Father's Day, which would be awesome if we kind of could, you know, turn that around, because I really feel like it would be a really cool and unexpected gift for a dad to receive flowers,' said Stacy Schapp, Owner, The Flower Mill. USD still weighing decisions with NCAA settlement It's been said that most men don't receive flowers until their funeral. But with options, like this one – complete with a fishing pole – florist Stacy Schapp hopes to change that. 'Most people think of guys just getting ties, tools, whatnot for Father's Day. And honestly, flowers would be a really unique and unexpected gift. And a lot of men enjoy the scent of flowers and getting flowers,' said Schapp. Even though flowers may not be the most popular gift for Father's Day, there are still plenty of gardening supplies for Dad. 'You know, if dad's into gardening and trees and plants and nature, then we're definitely the spot for gifts for him,' said Jamie Ogle, Manager, Cliff Avenue Greenhouse & Garden Center. Father's Day, that's where we're selling more of, like, the trees, shrubs, perennials, houseplants, gift certificates, that type of thing.' Whether it's something for the garden or something in a vase, both businesses have plenty of options for dad. 'Everybody loves to get flowers and everybody enjoys flowers, not just women. Honestly, I feel like guys love them too, and it's just a fun thing to get and a fun surprise,' said Schapp. An poll from Interflora showed that only about 12 percent of men receive flowers in their lifetime. Secretary of State urges Hoosiers to lookout for scams targeting elderly
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Indiana's Secretary of State, Diego Morales, is warning elderly Hoosiers of scams targeting them. June 15 isn't just Father's Day, but it is also known as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The Indiana Securities Division, which Morales oversees, works year-round to educate the public on elder abuse, especially when it comes to financial exploitation. They do this through local events at churches, retirement homes, and local civic organizations across the Hoosier State. Scams target seniors as gold prices rise 'We continue to work closely with financial institutions, investment professionals, and law enforcement to protect Indiana's senior citizens,' said Marie Castetter, Indiana Securities Commissioner. 'Knowledge is power—we want to equip older Hoosiers with the information they need to spot red flags and stop scams before they happen.' Some ways the Securities Division recommends to keep the elderly safe from financial exploitation are: Naming a trusted contact on all financial accounts Shredding documents that contain personal information Recognizing common scam tactics such as threats of arrest or demands for payment via wire transfer, crypto ATMS, or gift cards—and hanging up immediately if contacted 'Respecting our senior citizens is a fundamental value,' said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State. 'Unfortunately, some bad actors specifically target our most vulnerable citizens. My office is committed to protecting Hoosier seniors by offering tools and resources to help them and their families avoid these harmful scams.' The Secretary of State's Office is also a member of IN-CASE, the Indiana Council Against Senior Exploitation. This group also works to raise awareness among older adults and professionals who work with them.
