ITV Ridley series 2: Full cast list and when it's on TV

Adrian Dunbar returns to play the title character, who is a former detective inspector brought back in as a consultant some eighteen months after an early retirement.
This was due to a nervous breakdown from having to come to terms with the loss of his wife and daughter in a house fire.
Working alongside former colleague DI Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh), there'll be several absorbing mysteries to solve.
Alex Ridley is back.

The official synopsis reads that they will tackle a "new slate of mysteries, investigating crimes that will take them from the atmospheric British moors to the pulsating beats of an illegal rave".
Ridley will be put through his paces as he faces "formidable challenges, working tirelessly to solve the most intricate and perplexing cases".
The Radio Times reports the second series of Ridley aired in the USA last September, so there's been a long wait for new episodes in the UK.

‘Tear-jerking' drama based on classic children's book now streaming for free

The family film struck a chord with viewers A classic children's film that left viewers in floods of tears is now streaming for free on ITVX. Millennials may remember re-watching this flick throughout their childhood, and for good reason. ‌ Originally released in 2006, Charlotte's Web was adapted from E.B White's classic 1952 novel, which also inspired the 1973 animated musical. It follows a heart-warming friendship between Charlotte the Spider (voiced by Julia Roberts) and Wilbur the Pig. ‌ After learning that Wilbur is in danger of being slaughtered, Charlotte, with help from the farmer's daughter Fern, plots to save his life by writing about him in her web. ‌ At its core, the family-friendly film teaches important lessons on true friendship and the cycle of life and death. Young Dakota Fanning starred as Fern, with A-listers like Oprah Winfrey, Steve Buscemi and John Cleese voicing various farm animals. Meanwhile, Gary Winick, who helmed hit rom-com 13 Going on 30, served as the director. As you'd expect from a children's film based on a much-loved book, Charlotte's Web was a hit with viewers and critics alike. It scored an impressive 79% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Critics praised the drama in their consensus, writing: "Kids will be entertained by the straightforward plot and cute animals, and adults will be charmed by how quiet and humble the production is, a fine translation of E.B. White's genteel prose." Moviegoers were similarly impressed, with one penning: "It was so exciting to see this tender story hit the level of live action. This quaint tear-jerker never falls short of being emotionally moving and great." ‌ On Google Reviews, another fan vouched for the film's emotional impact. "Only movie that can make a grown man sad about a spider. Extremely heartfelt movie with an amazing and long lasting message about caring and friendship," they said. Meanwhile, an IMDb user reviewed: "I saw this movie with my two sons and wife and we all enjoyed it. We were very familiar with both the book and original animated movie, which we highly enjoyed." They continued: "My sons found many things to laugh at and the darker moments, (not wanting to spoil anything for anyone who does not know the story) are handled deftly so sensitive children will not get upset. An excellent family movie."

What could the planned UFC fight at the White House look like?

It's a seismic moment in a sporting promotion that has had a stratospheric rise since its inception three decades ago. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to be staged at The White House next year, when longtime fan Donald Trump is likely to be in the front row as the fighters battle it out on the lawn. Marking the July 4 celebrations, 250 years on from the founding of the United States, it promises to be quite a spectacle. And British and Irish MMA fighters will almost certainly be entering the Octagon if the history-making event goes ahead. UFC boss Dana White, whose friendship with Trump stretches back to the early 2000s, said: 'It is definitely going to happen.' White explained that he plans to finalise the plans with the US president and his daughter Ivanka at the end of the month. While the UFC has been staged all over the world, it would be the first time that it has been hosted in the seat of power. The main fight events are large arena shows drawing tens of thousands of people, and it's unclear where exactly where the show would take place, but it's thought it would be staged on the lawn. 'When he called me and asked me to do it, he said, 'I want Ivanka in the middle of this,'' White told CBS Mornings of his discussions with Trump. 'So Ivanka reached out to me and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings.' Trump previously said that a UFC event will take place 'on the grounds of the White House' on Independence Day. 'We have a lot of land there,' he added. The president, speaking at a rally in Iowa last month, said the event could be staged in front of between 20,000 and 25,000 people. An AI image produced by a picture agency shows the eight-sided cage in front of the presidential building in Washington DC. In real life, the arena would likely be comprised of thousands of seats, with room for light shows and performers. What is clear is that the UFC can put on extravagant shows, best exemplified by the dazzling spectacle at the Las Vegas Sphere for Mexican Independence Weekend in September 2024. British undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is the most obvious pick for a UK fighter to feature on the White House card. However, in conversation with combat sports broadcaster Ariel Helwani, it became clear that he is concentrating on his upcoming fight with Frenchman Ciryl Gane in October. Aspinall said the thought of a White House fight with Jon 'Bones' Jones, widely regarded as having ducked the Brit before leaving retiring, had occupied 'zero seconds in my mind.' The champion, from Wigan, explained: 'Not interested, and the world shouldn't be interested, because what's the point? It's false hope.' Asked if he would still be interested in fighting at the White House without Jones making an unlikely comeback, he replied: 'Not particularly, it doesn't not interest me, but it doesn't really interest me to be honest. I'm not really fussed by it, I'll fight anywhere, it doesn't really bother me. 'It would be a cool experience but I'm not like…I feel like the Americans should get the shot at the White House, I'm not American, Trump and the political stance in America doesn't really bother me. 'I'm not really a big Trump supporter or against that stuff is just irrelevant to me.' Also speaking to Helwani, UFC fighter Michael Chandler, who was soundly beaten by Scouser Paddy Pimblett in April, said he would 'love' to fight the Irish former two-times champion at the venue. More Trending 'That's the one everyone wants, that's the pinnacle,' he said of the yet to be announced White House card. 'As a fighter you want the biggest stages the brightest lights the biggest money you possibly can with the shortest window of opportunity you have in the sport and fighting on the White House lawn with the president of the United States… 'I was just with someone else from his team and he said people from England will be coming to pay their respects, it's going to be special.' Yet The Saturdays hitmakers, whose friction behind the scenes was first revealed by The Sun, might not be making amends with fellow former popstar Myleene Klass, 47. We then reported how ITV has stepped in to manage strained relations between Frankie, Rochelle, and Myleene. This weekend, we told how Rochelle, 36, had hit the like button on an Instagram upload showing Loose Women panelist Frankie, 36, stripping to a patterned bikini. Rochelle's like, at the time, was a surprise move amid their feud - as they rarely publicly support each others' posts. The All Fired Up singers haven't liked each others' uploads in years, and, until last week, there had been no likes or comment exchanges between the pair since 2013. This could mean they were wiped if one of them had blocked the other. Yet now they appear to have signalled their clash is over - after publicly supporting each others' social media content. After Rochelle kicked things off with her like, she has now showed her approval for Frankie's "holiday fits" upload as well as a gallery showing the family's coconut tree. Meanwhile, I'm A Celeb star Frankie has shared her approval for a recent Instagram paid post featuring Rochelle and her husband Marvin as well as a gallery of "summer love" images which started with a snap of Rochelle and her sisters. The olive branch comes after mum of two Frankie recently posted a cryptic "you're dead to me" upload after the pair kept their distance at Wimbledon. Frankie Bridge posts cryptic TikTok about 'being a people pleaser' amid feud with Myleene Klass Rochelle - who was in The Saturdays band with Frankie since 2007 - uploaded an equally thought-provoking message about "choosing partners wisely." TOUGH TIMES Recently, The Sun reported how ITV has stepped into manage relations between Frankie, Rochelle, and Myleene. All three former pop stars now work as Daytime presenters at ITV. They were all once close, with Loose Women hosts Myleene and Frankie attending Rochelle's hen do back in 2012. However, Rochelle and Frankie remained friends with their former bodyguard and Myleene's ex husband Graham Quinn. Rochelle even posted snaps with Graham in Ibiza last week. In 2013, soon after Myleene's divorce from Graham, guests at the Glamour Women of the Year awards saw her storm over to Frankie after believing she had been blanked. A source previously said: 'Myleene seemed to take that as Frankie taking sides with Graham because of their working relationship." Meanwhile, Frankie and Myleene have not appeared on Loose Women together since an 'awkward' episode last December. Sources said that though they'd rather not be on together, they are professionals and do their best to make things work. Tensions between the trio could well have heightened after Graham hit back at Myleene last weekend, blasting allegations of his "cheating." Meanwhile, Frankie this week posted a cryptic TikTok clip about being "a people pleaser" as the Myleene feud rumbled on. Rochelle also shared a mystery message in which she confessed "it's been a day." 7 Frankie Bridge and Rochelle Humes were bandmates in The Saturdays Credit: Getty - Contributor 7 They were close with Hear'Say singer Myleene until her split with Graham Quinn 7 Myleene believed the stars had taken her ex husband Graham Quinn's side Credit: Shutterstock Editorial
