Travis Kelce ‘can't block out' media scrutiny since dating Taylor Swift
During an interview with GQ as their September cover star, Kelce explained that he cares what the peanut gallery has to say — and he's become 'more strategic' in understanding how he portrays himself to the public.
'You can't block that out,' Travis said of the heightened attention his relationship with Swift has brought on. 'If someone says something that they don't like about you, you have to be able to understand how you are portraying yourself for them to say that.

'I'm a guy who doesn't want anyone to say anything negative about me. Some people don't give a f–k. I'm someone who does care.'
Kelce went on to explain that he knows how he wants the public to view him.

'When you see me hanging out at the US Open with Taylor, it may look like the two of us are partying,' Kelce said. 'But I'm just enjoying the fun of being at this really cool event that I always wanted to go to with the person that I love.
'Put another way, I've become way more strategic in understanding what I am portraying to people… I have a good understanding of how I want to be portrayed.'
Kelce, 35, previously reflected on the added attention and fame that came when he and Swift first got together in the summer of 2023.
Last month, the All-Pro tight end dismissed a narrative that he and Swift are 'trying to seek attention' by having date nights in the public eye, including their appearance at the 2025 Stanley Cup Final.

Venus Williams, 45, to become oldest U.S. Open singles entrant after receiving wild-card invite
Venus Williams will be back at the U.S. Open later this month for the first time since 2023 after she was one of eight women given a wild-card invitation. Williams' entry into the year's final major tournament at age 45 will make her the oldest player on the singles side since 47-year-old Renée Richards took part in the 1981 event. A two-time U.S. Open winner, Williams was already entered into the mixed doubles competition after receiving a wild-card invite. A seven-time Grand Slam tournament singles champion, which includes her two victories at Flushing Meadows in 2000 and 2001, Williams has won 47 times on the WTA tour in her career. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Since Williams' last U.S. Open singles title, she has reached the semifinals three times and has failed to get out of the first round in her three appearances since 2020. Injuries have hindered Williams' career the past few years. She returned to the court last month at the DC Open for her first match in 16 months. When asked if she planned to play in future tournaments, the former world No. 1 said, via The Associated Press, 'I'm just here for now, and who knows? Maybe there's more. ... But at the moment, I'm focused just on this. I haven't played in a year. There is no doubt I can play tennis, but obviously coming back to play matches, it takes time to get in the swing of things. I definitely feel I'll play well. I'm still the same player. I'm a big hitter. I hit big. This is my brand.' Williams, who was honored with a new Barbie this week, also played a doubles match at the DC Open and took part in the Cincinnati Open last week via a wild-card invite before losing in the first round. The U.S. Open singles main draw will begin on Aug. 24.

Why Patrick Mahomes thinks Taylor Swift's new album will be 'amazing'
Everyone is excited for Taylor Swift's New Heights debut on Wednesday night, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Although Mahomes doesn't know anything more about the podcast than we do, even though he made sure to point out he knew before the general public. "They called me after the podcast was done," Mahomes told reporters before amending his statement slightly. "They didn't call me, they called Brittany [his wife]. I was like in the back of the FaceTime." Mahomes went on to heap praise on the 14-time Grammy winner, saying that her new album The Life Of A Showgirl is certain to be great just based on her work ethic. "Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums. It's going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it." "What better place to announce it than New Heights podcast where I feel like she can be herself and showcase who she is," he said. "I haven't seen it yet, I've seen a little bit of the clips just like everybody else, but I'll be tuned in tonight." What time is the New Heights podcast with Taylor Swift? 49ers DC Robert Saleh brushes off awful outing from rookie in NFL preseason debut
After losing Dre Greenlaw and De'Vondre Campbell in the offseason, the San Francisco 49ers are looking for someone to step up and fil major roles at the position besides four-time All-Pro Fred Warner. San Francisco hoped that one of their best options would be Nick Martin, one of their third-round picks from this year's draft. However, with 2023 sixth-round pick Dee Winters really impressing throughout training camp, Martin appears to be fighting for a rotational snaps. During the team's first preseason game of the year, a 30-9 loss to the Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium, Martin was noticeable on the field, but not in the way he wanted to be. The rookie finished the day with five tackles, but his missed tackles were one of the fan base's talking points after the game, and while some are worried about his performance, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh isn't one of them. 'Nick's doing a good job," Saleh told reporters on Tuesday. "Obviously, he's a big-time running hit linebacker, so he just has to learn how to control himself at the tackle point and come together. It's getting his feet underneath him and just get his body on the ball carrier until the speed of the game catches up to him. If that makes sense. But he's young. It was his first real live action in over a year and a half, so we're not concerned with some of those missed tackles. I think we'll get those cleaned up.' Martin, 22, was a three-star recruit out of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas before committing to Oklahoma State from 2021-24. During his time with the Cowboys, he appeared in 35 games and recorded 203 tackles (24 for a loss), seven sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered. He also earned All-Big 12 honors once. Despite the rough first week Saleh believes in the rookie linebacker and knows he has others to lean on in the locker room. "He's in a good place," Saleh said. "The good thing is, he's got a lot of teammates who have had first preseason games that didn't go so well. So, you just put it to the side and find a way to get better. He's going to have another opportunity to do that against Vegas.' A strong final two games in the preseason could earn Martin the top backup spot in the linebacker room, but more performances like the last, and he could be surpassed by Luke Gifford and Tatum Bethune, who both looked solid against Denver.
