Crunch time for red-hot Eagle Sports in bid for league title

BY extending their staggering winning run, Eagle Sports have put themselves on the brink of a first ever Cheshire Football League title.
They will still need help from elsewhere but as they prepare for their final game of the CFL Premier Division season tonight, manager Danny Nixon wants his side to take care of their own business first and foremost.
Eagle recorded an 11th consecutive victory on Friday night as they hammered Lostock Gralam 4-0 in their last home game of the season thanks to goals from Matty Saunders, Ed Burthem, Amir Hajri and Danny Burthem.
Tonight, they wrap up their campaign with a trip to Crewe FC and if they can extend their run to 12, they will climb above current league leaders Poynton, whom they currently trail by two points.
All eyes will then be on Poynton's final game of the season away at Middlewich Town – a date for which has not yet been confirmed – but if they rivals slip up, Eagle will lift the title.
'I'm extremely proud of the lads in what they have achieved over the last few weeks,' Nixon said.
'To win 11 straight games in any league is fantastic and is something that will rarely happen, so it's great to see how we've worked hard to get to this point.
'We've now given ourselves a chance to go top of the table on Wednesday and no-one expected that to be possible, so let's go to Crewe ready for one last battle to see if we can get the points.
'It will certainly be a tough game as it's not an easy place to go.
'One more 90 to go, three points to get then we can put our feet up and see what happens elsewhere.'

3 reasons why the Eagles should and shouldn't bring Jaire Alexander to Philadelphia
3 reasons why the Eagles should and shouldn't bring Jaire Alexander to Philadelphia Green Bay released Jaire Alexander on Monday, and we're examining the Pros and Cons of a potential signing ahead of Eagles' training camp Most of us will never know what this feels like, but there are seemingly two destinations for every Philadelphia Eagles star's career. Retire voluntarily. Wait until the game retires you. One or the other will happen. There's no avoiding the outcome. Then again, that isn't just the fate of an Eagle. Every player on every NFL squad thinks about this. Things have changed for Jaire Alexander. The Green Bay Packers have informed him of his release, but it just doesn't feel like he's ready to hang his cleats up. By now, you have all seen enough offseasons to know what will probably happen next. Might Alexander trade one shade of green for another? He was, after all, born in Philadelphia. The arguments for an Eagles acquisition of Jaire Alexander There isn't any reason to stall or waste time here. Alexander's change in employment isn't something someone like Howie Roseman should ignore. There are several reasons why Jaire makes sense for the Eagles and several more why he doesn't. Here are three examples of both, beginning with the 'pros'. The resume speaks for itself. Everyone knows how good Jaire Alexander is. He's a two-time Pro Bowler and a two-time Second-Team All-Pro. There isn't another defensive back on the Eagles' roster with that resume. Heck, there isn't a defender on any of the three levels of Vic Fangio's defense with that resume. This satisfies what might be the Eagles' top remaining need on defense Some might argue that the Eagles still need help at edge rusher, and that might be their most significant need. Others might be inclined to say another veteran should be added to this battle for a starting outside corner. Another veteran presence in the locker room Darius Slay's presence did wonders for Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in year one. Both could still benefit from having a proven vet to lean on. The reasons why the Eagles should ignore Jaire Alexander Age Jaire Alexander doesn't turn 29 years old until February. Why does it seem like he is older than that? Could it be the recent injuries? The 30-year threshold still represents youth. Still, in the NFL, the closer one gets to hugging that line, the more teams begin treating them like they are ready to be sidelined. Stunting the growth of the young defensive backs In keeping with the youth theory, here's where Kelee Ringo comes into the conversation. He enters year three. It seems he has earned the shot to compete for a starter's role. Adding proven veterans to an already-stacked roster is exciting, but at some point, teams have to coach their young guys up. The extensive injury history Jaire Alexander has missed at least ten games in three of the past four Packers regular seasons. He has missed 34 games over that period. Availability is a skill, and as good as this young man has been when on the field, he does his next team no good if he isn't on the field. Final thoughts: Many of these arguments can be made about every veteran free agent, but the goal of every team is to get better. It's doubtful that a healthy Jaire Alexander makes an Eagles team worse, so it's fair to say that he is at least worthy of a phone call. Trust the following statement. Philadelphia's rivals in the NFC East are indeed asking the same questions.

Estancia High Eagles soar to new heights, celebrating a victory for the class of 2025
Estancia High School was a scene of excited anticipation Thursday, as Eagles with the class of 2025 spread their wings and took flight toward future horizons, celebrating their collective and individual accomplishments during their time on the Costa Mesa campus. In a commencement ceremony at the school's Jim Scott stadium, a crowd of 243 graduating seniors were cheered on from the sidelines by family members, friends and loved ones as they received their diplomas. With words of inspiration and reflection offered by Principal Mike Halt, along with student speakers Charlie Sabori, Jose Gomez and Mario Solis, it was time for graduates to be confirmed and to turn their tassels, signifying the official completion of their high school careers. Sixty-five percent of this year's graduates plan to attend two-year colleges, while another 25% will enroll in four-year colleges or universities. Three students announced plans to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, according to figures provided by the school. A group of 50 students earned a combined $50,000 in scholarships this year, while senior Julie Ortega Avila earned the special distinction of completing coursework in two separate Career Technical Education pathways — the Medical Academy and the Building Industry Technology Academy — the first Eagle to accomplish such a feat. Class notes indicate 57 students, nearly 24% of graduates, earned the State Seal of Biliteracy. Indicated by a gold seal on their diplomas, the honor certifies attainment of a high level of proficiency in two or more languages. The number of seal recipients this year sets an EHS record.
