Crunch time for red-hot Eagle Sports in bid for league title
BY extending their staggering winning run, Eagle Sports have put themselves on the brink of a first ever Cheshire Football League title.
They will still need help from elsewhere but as they prepare for their final game of the CFL Premier Division season tonight, manager Danny Nixon wants his side to take care of their own business first and foremost.
Eagle recorded an 11th consecutive victory on Friday night as they hammered Lostock Gralam 4-0 in their last home game of the season thanks to goals from Matty Saunders, Ed Burthem, Amir Hajri and Danny Burthem.
Tonight, they wrap up their campaign with a trip to Crewe FC and if they can extend their run to 12, they will climb above current league leaders Poynton, whom they currently trail by two points.
All eyes will then be on Poynton's final game of the season away at Middlewich Town – a date for which has not yet been confirmed – but if they rivals slip up, Eagle will lift the title.
'I'm extremely proud of the lads in what they have achieved over the last few weeks,' Nixon said.
'To win 11 straight games in any league is fantastic and is something that will rarely happen, so it's great to see how we've worked hard to get to this point.
'We've now given ourselves a chance to go top of the table on Wednesday and no-one expected that to be possible, so let's go to Crewe ready for one last battle to see if we can get the points.
'It will certainly be a tough game as it's not an easy place to go.
'One more 90 to go, three points to get then we can put our feet up and see what happens elsewhere.'

Malcolm Jenkins still strikes an emotional chord years after leaving the Eagles
The mere mention of Malcolm Jenkins' name still tugs at the emotional heartstrings year later. Who wants to hear something funny? Even as big fans of Quinyon Mitchell, that number 27 jersey reminds us of someone else. There wasn't much that went right during Chip Kelly's coaching era, but there were a few additions that gave the Philadelphia Eagles a handful of legends we fell in love with immediately. You can't credit Coach Kelly for most of them, as Howie Roseman was the man behind the scenes. Lane Johnson and Zach Ertz were both Howie Roseman choices. One year later, as the franchise began taking on more of Kelly's personality, Malcolm Jenkins was added to Philadelphia's nest. That trio became part of Philadelphia's core contributors almost immediately. Three seasons later, they were Super Bowl champions. The crowning jewel of their season was defeating the NFL's greatest coach, quarterback, and dynasty in Super Bowl 52. Jenkins' leadership was on full display and lives on through various NFL Films presentations as he was mic'd up for the game along with others. During his Eagles tenure, he was their 'iron man', never missing a snap, except for a regular-season finale in which then-head coach Doug Pederson rested his starters. That preceded the first Super Bowl-winning run in franchise history, one that made Malcolm Jenkins a franchise legend. Malcolm Jenkins approaches Eagles immortality By now, most of you have heard the news. Two former Eagles champions, Malcolm Jenkins and Bucko Kilroy, will be inducted into the franchise's Hall of Fame. Jenkins wasted no time showing his appreciation with an appreciative acknowledgement on social media. Jenkins wasn't just a great player with a sturdy physique. He was a socially conscious team captain who demanded respect in his locker room and others. He was a rock that assisted so many families in Philadelphia and New Orleans. He stood for justice and charity. He played as hard as he worked, launching a clothing line with phenomenal menswear. He was recently seen at the Eagles' joint practice versus the Cleveland Browns, taking in the sights and catching a few pictures as he has now tackled the world of photography. He'll kill it. When Jenkins puts his mind to being great at something, nothing stops him. He and Kilroy will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame during the November 28 game against the Chicago Bears. Someone else is going to have to take the pictures and capture the video, though. '27' is going to be a little busy. He's an Eagle to the core, one who was as versatile as they come. Congratulations on the honor, Mr. Jenkins.

Cleveland Browns Training Camp Recap: Day 14 – Browns take it to the Eagles
Day 14 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Thursday. Here is our recap of the session. Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 14 (8/14/25) 1. QB Situation: It is crazy how the Browns entered this camp with four quarterbacks competing for a spot, and yet for the second preseason game, we're here talking about how the fifth guy they signed (Tyler Huntley) might just play the entire game this Saturday. The latest update from practice today is that Kevin Stefanski elaborated a bit on Shedeur Sanders' oblique injury, saying they are 'putting him down for a little bit,' treating him day-by-day. While they did not rule him out for Saturday's preseason game, he is unlikely to play. Joe Flacco will not play, and neither will Kenny Pickett. It sounds like Dillon Gabriel is the favorite to start right now, but that is contingent on how his hamstring feels in the coming days. That means it could come down to Huntley. With that said, Sanders was still dressed for practice, did stretches, and handed the ball to running backs during warm-ups — just no throwing. 2. Another Former Player: In yesterday's joint practice report, I noted how former Browns defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo and long snapper Charley Hughlett are on the Eagles. I neglected to mention that former Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is also there, via the trade involving Kenny Pickett. We might see DTR in action this weekend against Cleveland. 3. Kelce in the House: Local Clevelander and former Eagle Jason Kelce was at practice, talking with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam beforehand: 4. Get Those Hands Ready: Per Zac Jackson, when QB Joe Flacco was up first, he threw what would have been a touchdown pass to TE Harold Fannin Jr, but he dropped it. In their next try, though, Fannin held on to a touchdown pass from Flacco. 5. Catching Up on Some Observations: After we published the training camp report from the first joint practice, a few more interesting notes came in, so I thought I'd share them here. First up was that the defensive line caused problems for Philly: And then that continued into Day 2 of the joint sessions: 6. Browns Win the Battle: The Browns won the battle on offense and defense to close out practice, scoring a lot of touchdowns on offense and locking down the Eagles' offense. The only quarterbacks who got reps in team drills were Flacco (7-of-10 for 2 TD) and Gabriel (1-of-5 for 1 TD). Gabriel would've had another touchdown, but it was dropped by WR Diontae Johnson. Here is Ward with that pass breakup: Then QB Joe Flacco hitting WR Jerry Jeudy: Here is QB Dillon Gabriel with the touchdown pass: And then lastly, Flacco hitting TE David Njoku for the score: 7. Brotherly Love: After practice, Eagles OL Landon Dickerson bonded with his brothers on the other side, sharing some Miller Lites with them. 8. From the Eagles' Perspective: Here is a report from an Eagles reporter, declaring the Browns the victor of the joint practice: 9. Brownies: WR Diontae Johnson received some practice for his work against the Eagles' corners. … TE Brenden Bates also dropped a touchdown pass from QB Dillon Gabriel. … QB Kenny Pickett hopes he's turning the corner and can play next week. 10. Next Up: The Browns will play their second preseason game this Saturday at 1:00 pm in Philadelphia. The Browns' next training camp practice will be Tuesday, August 19.

Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame
The Eagles invited former Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins to the team's joint practice with the Browns on Wednesday and broke the news that he'd be in the Hall of Fame Super Bowl LII Champ. Three-time Pro Bowler. Welcome to the Eagles Hall of Fame, @MalcolmJenkins.@EdwardsLifesci | #FlyEaglesFly Malcolm Jenkins is an Eagle through and through, and he'll be remembered forever after the organization announced that he'd be inducted into the Ring of Honor. The team initially invited the former Pro Bowl safety to the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday as a photographer to capture the on-field action, a hobby that he has started since retiring from the NFL in 2022. Following practice, Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie invited Jenkins into the NovaCare Complex to personally share that he'll be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame Class of 2025, along with the late Bucko Kilroy. Jenkins and Kilroy will be inducted during the November 28 game against the Chicago Bears. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said this about the announcement: "Malcolm and Bucko are most deserving of our team's highest honor, having played integral roles on the 1948, 1949, and 2017 championship-winning teams," Lurie said in a statement. "Along with seven of his teammates, Bucko is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s – an era in which he helped lead the franchise to back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949. "A captain on our first Super Bowl-winning team in 2017, Malcolm was a tenacious player who was beloved by his teammates and coaches for the thoughtful leadership and veteran presence he provided. We proudly congratulate both men, along with their families, and look forward to officially inducting them into the Eagles Hall of Fame in November." An authentic Swiss Army Knife, Jenkins started all 96 regular-season games in his six seasons in Philadelphia. In five of those six seasons, Jenkins played 99 percent of the defensive snaps. Jenkins logged 100 or more stops in each of his six seasons, along with 5.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Jenkins will finish his career with 11 interceptions and 77 pass breakups.
