Jennifer Lawrence makes bold ultra-casual fashion statement after dropping hint at second child's name

Daily Mail23-07-2025
Jennifer Lawrence was the image of summer casual when she was spotted dashing around sunny New York City this week.
The 34-year-old Oscar-winning actress left her lace-trimmed slip on under her white t-shirt during her latest outing in Manhattan.
Adding a pop of color to the look with bright crimson trousers, she slipped into a set of flip flops and accessorized with a simple black handbag.
She kept a low profile, wearing her white baseball cap tilted down to shadow her face, which she partly obscured behind large sunglasses.
Her outfit accentuated her enviably svelte post-baby figure, four months after she welcomed her second child with her art gallerist husband Cooke Maroney.
Cooke and Jennifer, who tied the knot in 2019 at a 19th century mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, also share a three-year-old son called Cy.
They have yet to publicly disclose either the name or sex of their second baby - though Jennifer subtly hinted at the former earlier this month.
She was glimpsed stepping out in New York a couple of weeks ago wearing a pendant with 'C' and 'L' charms, suggesting her infant has name starting with L.
Meanwhile her firstborn is named after Cy Twombly, a 20th century American artist whose work influenced such names as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Julian Schnabel.
Jennifer recently spoke candidly about motherhood while attending the Cannes Film Festival in support of her new movie Die My Love, co- starring Robert Pattinson.
'Having children changes everything. It changes your whole life. It's brutal and incredible,' Jennifer explained while addressing reporters alongside Robert.
'Not only do they go into every decision of if I'm working, where I'm working, when I'm working — they've taught me,' she added.
'I mean, I didn't know that I could feel so much, and my job has a lot to do with emotions, and they've opened up the world to me. It's almost like feeling like a blister or something, so sensitive,' continued the Mother! star.
'They've changed my life, obviously, for the best, and they've changed me creatively. I highly recommend having kids, if you want to be an actor.'
Robert, who welcomed a baby daughter with his songstress fiancée Suki Waterhouse in March 2024, also addressed the impact becoming a father has had on him.
'It's literally just like what Jennifer said. I'm here just to support,' the Twilight hunk said, making a rare public comment on fatherhood.
'Ever since she was born, it's reinvigorated the way I approach work, and yeah, you're a completely different person the next day,' he added.
'I think, in the most unexpected ways, having a baby gives you the biggest trove of energy and inspiration afterward. It's a different kind of energy.'
Produced by Martin Scorsese, Die My Love is based on an acclaimed 2012 novel of the same name by Argentine author Ariana Harwicz set in the French countryside.
The main character finds herself skidding towards madness while struggling with her ennui as a wife and mother in a remote rural environment.
Jennifer's movie adaptation of the book is directed by Lynne Ramsay, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Ratcatcher and We Need to Talk about Kevin.
'It's about mental health…and the breakdown of a marriage,' said Lynne while discussing Die My Love at the Sarajevo Film Festival two years ago.
'But it's really f***ing funny. At least I think it's funny,' she told Variety. 'But I'm Glaswegian, so I've a really black sense of humor.'

Sean 'Diddy' Combs loses bid to get out of jail prior to sentencing

NEW YORK, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Sean "Diddy" Combs on Monday lost his bid to be released from jail ahead of his October 3 sentencing, despite a jury having found the hip-hop mogul not guilty of the most serious charges at his sex crimes trial. Combs' lawyers had asked U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian on July 29 to release Combs on $50 million bond, saying conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn were dangerous and other defendants convicted of prostitution-related charges similar to Combs' were usually released before sentencing. In a written ruling, the judge said Combs' arguments "might have traction in a case that didn't involve evidence of violence, coercion or subjugation in connection with the acts of prostitution at issue, but the record here contains evidence of all three." Subramanian said his decision did not foreshadow what sentence he might impose against Combs, who has been jailed at the MDC since his September 2024 arrest. Combs' lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Prosecutors with the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office in an August 1 filing said staffing, medical services and conditions at the MDC had improved since Combs' arrest, and evidence of Combs' physical violence presented at trial showed he remained a danger to the community. Combs, 55, was found not guilty on July 2 of three counts of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, and convicted on two lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors alleged Combs forced two former girlfriends to participate in days-long, drug-fueled sexual performances with male sex workers sometimes called "freak-offs." Defense lawyers said the women were willing participants. Each prostitution charge carries a maximum 10-year sentence, but prosecutors have acknowledged that federal sentencing guidelines appear to recommend a sentence of at most 5-1/4 years total. Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, pleaded not guilty to all counts. The trial lasted seven weeks. Subramanian denied Combs' initial request for release immediately after the verdict, citing the ample evidence presented at trial of violent acts he committed.

Three-time Grand Slam winner Aryna Sabalenka drives fans wild as she poses topless ahead of US Open

ARYNA SABALENKA stunned fans as she posed topless in a new post to her Instagram. In the post, Sabalenka can be seen lounging in swimwear by the pool, winking at the camera and showing off her tan lines in the risque topless image. 6 6 6 The tennis star posted the pictures to her 3.3million followers captioned "A day spent in the sun." The post is just the latest in a string of revealing images shared to her account as she enjoys a rest between Grand Slam tournaments. The world No.1 women's tennis player is now sunning it up in Miami as the US Open approaches. Sabalenka will hope to add to her existing tally of three Grand Slam victories with a victory in New York later this month. The 27-year-old narrowly missed out on a shot at making it four at last month's Wimbledon tournament. She battled past British tennis hero Emma Raducanu in the third round, and looked good value to go all the way. 6 6 6 Her shock semi-final exit to Amanda Anisimova was the third time she had made it to the semis at the tournament, losing on all three occasions. Anisimova would be absolutely crushed in the final by Sabalenka's rival at the summit of the WTA rankings, Polish star Iga Świątek. Sabalenka has better form at the US Open, and is set to try and defend her title when the competition kicks off on August 24th. The Belarusian narrowly saw off American Jessica Pegula to win last year's edition of the tournament. If her demeanour on social media is anything to go by, Sabalenka is feeling relaxed ahead of her return to the court.

Miley Cyrus goes NUDE for Perfect magazine cover... and reveals how it feels being in her birthday suit

Miley Cyrus is shedding layers for the upcoming issue of Perfect magazine. The star, 32, went completely nude as she fronted the zine with just a single hand (and strategically-cropped photo) protecting her modesty. Miley shot the camera with a smoldering gaze as she rested one hand atop her bare breast, her long hair cascading down in glossy waves. The issue has yet to be released but Perfect provided a sneak peek of Miley's interview on their Instagram - with one describing the 'power' she feels when in her birthday suit. 'Even if I'm wearing nothing, there still feels like a level of power to it,' Miley - who also recently stripped down to her lingerie for a music video with Naomi Campbell - is quoted as saying. While it is one of three covers Miley fronts for Perfect's upcoming fourth issue, it is arguably the magazine's most striking due to her daring pose. Another cover sees Miley draped in an elegant gown from Sofia Coppola's 2005 Marie Antoinette film - but with a modern twist. Paired with sneakers, Miley is adorned in the opulent Victorian frock with a feathered hat casually tied around her head. 'I feel like right now I'm in that kind of God pocket: everything is just flowing and there's a real harmonious relationship between me and what I'm wearing. It still feels like skin. I don't feel like it ever overpowers. I don't feel like it's wearing me,' she says in a quote accompanying this particular image. A third cover offers a more intimate view of Miley as she piles her hair atop her head, her toned physique clad in a busty blue top with satin taupe ribbons. She speaks about the power of fashion in an accompanying quote, reflecting on the glittering Bob Mackie dress she wore to the Grammy Awards last year. 'In a moment like the Grammys - where it's really high intensity, I'm nervous and there's a lot at stake - I know that that Bob Mackie dress is speaking to the crowd before I even say a word. I definitely use it, almost like a co-star.' Miley won two of the six Grammy Awards she was nominated for last year - Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, both for Flowers. Prior to becoming the superstar she is known as today, the daughter of Achy Breaky Heart singer Billy Ray Cyrus started her entertainment career as the star of Disney's Hannah Montana series. The show, which debuted in 2006 and ended in 2011, will be celebrating it's 20th anniversary next year. Recently the star said she is hoping to 'design something really, really special' for the occasion. 'It's about to be the 20 year Hannah-versary! In March!' she said on SiriusXM's TikTok Radio. 'I want to design something really, really special for it, because it really was the beginning of all of this, that now sits here today. 'Really, without Hannah, there really wouldn't be this kind of… this me. It's so crazy to think too that I started as a character that I thought was going to be impossible to shed. 'And now that's something that when I walk into a space, it's looked at as this sense of kind of like nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood, but I've now been as kind of integrated into everyone's life as the character itself, so that's exciting to get to celebrate that.'
