At the News18 SheShakti event, Nimrat Kaur dismissed rumours about her personal life, expressing pity for those spreading them, and emphasised her focus on meaningful work.
Actor Nimrat Kaur was one of the guest speakers at the News18 SheShakti event when she addressed rumours about her personal life. The Lunchbox actor revealed that she 'pities" those who frame rumours and circulate them on social media. Her reaction comes amid last year's dating speculations with Dasvi co-star Abhishek Bachchan.
Nimrat Kaur spoke about how she deals with rumours about her personal space. 'Social media apne aap mein ek aisa amoeba hain, wo kabhi bhi, kahi bhi ugta hain, kisi bhi reason se – bhale kaaran hain, nahi hain. Mera focus life mein kya hona chhaiye wo bohot clear hain. Mumbai sheher main social media ke liye nahi aayi thi, uss waqt tha bhi nahi. Smart phones bhi nahi the (In both cases, I'd be giving that thing some kind of validation. Social media is like an amoeba—it can sprout anywhere, anytime, for any reason—whether there's a reason or not. I'm very clear about what my focus in life should be. I didn't come to Mumbai for social media—it didn't even exist back then. There were no smartphones either)," she said.
She further explained, 'Mera life goal aur aim hain ke main kaam ki jama punji badhau naaki befaltu ke cheeze, jinn logo ke paas bohot samay hain, mujhe toh taras hi aata hain ke apne life ya apne samay ke saath kuch better hi karle. It's futile and a waste of their time and life (My life goal and aim is to grow a solid body of work, not waste time on meaningless things that people with too much free time engage in. Honestly, I feel pity for them. They should really do something better with their life or their time. It's futile—a complete waste of their time and life)."
She also stated, 'I pity them, it's sad. I have that much compassion for them. Mujhe unki upbringing aur parivaar ke liye dukh hota hain (I pity them. It's sad. I do have that much compassion. I feel sorry for their upbringing and for their families)."
The actor also mentioned, 'I feel sad for them. Kisi raah chalte aadmi agar aapko befaltu kuch bolega toh bura lagega kya apko? Usko taqleef ho rahi hain, madat ki zaroorat hain. Zindagi mein bohot kuch karni hain, bohot lamba safar. Ye sab ke liye faltu time nahi hain mere paas (I genuinely feel bad for them. If some random person on the street says something useless to you, would you even be offended? Clearly, that person is in pain and needs help. There's so much I want to do in life, such a long journey ahead. I really don't have time for all this nonsense)."
On the work front, Nimrat Kaur was seen in Sky Force, Kull: The Legacy of the Raisingghs. She also made a special appearance in Abhishek Bachchan's Kaalidhar Laapata.

Actress Lakshmi Manchu appears before ED in online betting linked PMLA case

Hyderabad, Aug 13 (PTI) Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for questioning in a money laundering case linked to illegal online betting and gambling by certain platforms. Lakshmi appeared before the officials of the probe agency at its zonal office here. The federal agency had issued summons to four actors–Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati and Lakshmi Manchu– last month, asking them to appear on different dates at the agency's zonal office here for questioning in the case. Raj, Deverakonda and Daggubati have appeared before the ED. The actors had 'endorsed" online betting apps allegedly involved in generating 'illicit" funds, according to official sources. The agency has recorded the statements of the three actors under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED had taken cognisance of as many as five state police FIRs to register its case against these actors and a number of other celebrities and social media influencers. These individuals are suspected to have 'endorsed" online betting apps for a celebrity or endorsement fee, ED sources said. These platforms are alleged to have generated 'illicit" funds through illegal betting and gambling, worth crores of rupees, they said. Deverakonda had recently said that he made an endorsement for a gaming app, adding that gaming apps are completely legal and recognised by the government.
