Rajasthan to attract ₹11,200 crore investments as Cabinet clears formation of three energy sector JVs
According to Minister Jogaram Patel, the joint ventures are being established in continuation of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the Rajasthan government and three Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) on August 8, 2024, and September 29, 2024. These ventures will help expand renewable energy capacity in the state, support peak electricity demand, and reduce the financial burden on the government in power generation.
Patel stated that the state government's equity in these joint ventures will be arranged through the current assets of state-owned power companies.
The three joint ventures are:
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) – RVUNL JV
The first joint venture will be between Indraprastha Gas Limited and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL), with shareholding of 74% and 26% respectively. A 500 MW solar power project will be set up in RVUNL's solar park under this JV. The project will lead to an investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore in the state.
Oil India Limited – RVUNL JV
A second joint venture will be formed between Oil India Limited and RVUNL for setting up renewable energy projects with a capacity of 1,000 MW solar and 200 MW wind energy. This JV will have equal 50:50 shareholding, and is expected to attract an investment of ₹5,000 crore.
GAIL (India) Limited – RVUNL JV
The third JV will be created between GAIL (India) Limited and RVUNL, also with 50:50 equity participation. Under this arrangement, the existing 300 MW gas-based Dholpur Power Plant and 270.50 MW Ramgarh Power Plant will be transferred to the joint venture. GAIL will ensure the availability of gas for both power plants, which is expected to improve their operational performance and efficiency.
In addition to managing these two gas power plants, this JV will also develop 750 MW of solar and 250 MW of wind power projects, contributing to a total investment of ₹4,200 crore in Rajasthan.
According to Minister Jogaram Patel, the formation of these joint ventures is expected to play a crucial role in expanding the state's renewable energy infrastructure and ensuring cleaner, more reliable power generation while attracting large-scale investments into Rajasthan's energy sector.

Rajasthan CM orders repair of damaged govt buildings
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Jaipur, Jul 30 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Wednesday directed all departments to prepare district-wise reports of damaged government buildings and ensure their prompt repair, an official statement said. Chairing a high-level meeting at his residence, he said a committee will also be set up to assess the construction quality of government buildings, schools and anganwadi centres built in the last six years. On July 25, a portion of a government school building collapsed in Jhalawar district, killing seven children and injuring 28. In a similar incident on July 28, a six-year-old student was killed and a teacher injured when a pillar of the main gate of a government school building collapsed in Jaisalmer district. Sharma instructed all departments to prepare district-wise reports of damaged or dilapidated buildings and ensure repair work is carried out immediately. He directed officials to carry out timely repairs using disaster management funds and submit proposals without delay, according to the statement. Special focus must be given to buildings located in rural areas, he said. He said a special state-level committee will also be constituted to assess the construction quality of government buildings, schools, and anganwadi centres built in the last six years. 'In case of any unfortunate incident leading to loss of life, individual responsibility will be determined," the CM said. Anganwadi centres operating in unsafe buildings have already been shifted to safer locations and a mandatory inspection of such facilities will be carried out. The state government has earmarked Rs 50 crore in the 2025-�26 budget for repair of 5,000 anganwadi buildings, Sharma said. He directed officials from departments of public works, education, health, and women and child development to inspect and submit detailed reports on all public buildings, especially schools and hospitals. IGL Q1 Results: Profit drops 11% YoY to ₹428 crore despite jump in revenue. Details here
IGL Q1 Results: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on Wednesday, July 30, posted a 10.9% year-on-year (YoY) fall in its consolidated net profit to ₹ 427.81 crore for the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26 (Q1 FY26). The company's profit stood at ₹ 480.22 crore in the same period a year ago. The fall came despite a jump in revenue, which rose to ₹ 4326.75 crore in Q1 FY26 from ₹ 3,887.52 crore in Q1 FY25, a growth of 11.2% YoY. On the operating front, the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood a ₹ 511.75 crore for the quarter ended June 2025, as against ₹ 581.85 crore in the corresponding period last year, registering a decline of 12% YoY. However, EBITDA margins saw a sharp decline from 17% to 13% on a YoY basis. Overall, during the quarter, volumes saw a 6% growth to 830.87 million SCM. Most categories — CNG, PNG — saw an improvement, while natural gas sales were constant. However, LNG volumes saw a 56% decline. The consolidated earnings performance includes the earnings outcome of subsidiary IGL Genesis Technologies Limited and associates -- Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited and Central U.P. Gas Limited. On a standalone basis, IGL saw an 11.33% decline in its net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, to ₹ 355.94 crore from ₹ 401.45 crore. However, its revenue from operations climbed to ₹ 4,326.60 crore, recording a jump of 11.29%. Ahead of the Q1 results announcement, IGL share price closed in the red, recording a 1.19% decline to settle at ₹ 203.60 apiece on the BSE. In the last one year, IGL's stock price has seen a 26.39% decline, while it is flat on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. Over the last six months, though, the stock has eked out a gain of 6%.

‘Sikh religious symbols permitted during exams': Rajasthan govt after ‘anger' in community
Following 'anger in the Sikh community' after a baptised Sikh student was allegedly denied entry to the Rajasthan High Court Civil Judge recruitment exam while wearing a kirpan, the Rajasthan government has reiterated that Sikh students be allowed entry to competitive examinations while wearing their religious symbols. Citing a December 2019 circular issued by former Congress government under Ashok Gehlot, the Bhajan Lal Sharma government has said that 'the candidates of Sikh religion should be allowed to appear in the examination wearing religious symbols like Kada, Kirpan and Pagdi etc. in various competitive examinations conducted by Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Rajasthan Staff Selection Board and other departments such as Technical and Higher Education, Medical Education, School Education, Director General of Police, etc.' The government has said that general instructions can be issued to the candidates of Sikh religion to report to the examination centre an hour before the examination. But, 'if during screening, any Sikh candidate is found carrying any suspicious device within the mentioned religious symbols, then they should not be allowed to take it in the examination hall'. On Sunday, candidate Gurpreet Kaur, a native of Tarn Taran district in Punjab, had made a video outside the exam centre in Jaipur claiming that she was denied entry because she was wearing articles of Sikh faith. This had led to criticism from various quarters, including from Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, the Officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. 'This is a serious violation of the Indian Constitution and religious discrimination against Sikhs,' Gargaj had said. He cited Article 25, Explanation I of the Constitution, which affirms the right of Sikhs to wear the kirpan as part of their religious practice. The Jathedar noted that a similar incident took place during last year's recruitment process in Jaipur and Jodhpur, and said written communication from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and other Sikh organisations had already been sent to the Rajasthan government. 'Despite that, the same injustice is being repeated,' he had said. The Rajasthan State Minority Commission had also sent a letter to the concerned officials after the latest incident, while citing some other similar incidents. The directive by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Bhaskar A Sawant states: 'Due to the non-effective compliance of the [2019] circular, such incidents have taken place and there is anger in the Sikh community'. The latest directive also cites the 2019 circular on the Freedom of Religion as enshrined in the Indian Constitution and a Delhi High Court order to allow carrying of religious symbols in examination halls. BJP's Sadulshahar MLA Gurveer Singh said: 'We acknowledge and thank Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma ji for addressing this vital issue with clarity and sensitivity. Now the onus is on Sikh students to uphold the sanctity and morality of the symbols'.
