Sam Ryder's message to Remember Monday on Eurovision: Nothing can define you
The British trio, made up of friends Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele who attended school in Hampshire, finished 19th in May after receiving 88 points from the national juries for their song What The Hell Just Happened?
The trio were the UK's first girl group entrant since 1999, and fared slightly worse than Olly Alexander who came 18th in Malmo in 2024, but better than 2023 representative Mae Muller, who placed second last in 2023.
The UK's 2022 Eurovision entrant Ryder, 35, was the first British act to come second since Imaani in 1998, and the first to make it to the top five since Jade Ewen with It's My Time in 2009.
Remember Monday was chosen by David May, who has been Ryder's manager, and headed up the BBC's search for the next Eurovision contestant.
Ryder was asked on ITV's This Morning about Remember Monday, and responded saying: 'Nothing can define you past that point.
'It's about singing for the love of singing and writing for the love of writing, and it's a privilege to be asked to go, do you know what I mean?
'And there's a lot of people that are all hoping for a certain outcome, and of course, it can't happen for every single person.
'And I just hope that every single person that took to that stage can really understand what an amazing job it is to even get there, and it (Eurovision) doesn't owe you anything, because music's given you everything already.
'If you truly love this thing, and you love this craft and love pursuing what it does to your spirit, how can you put, like, a metric on anything else past that?
'So please God, every single person that was there on that night came home and feels like they were part of something magic, because that's what it is.'
Ryder also said that those taking part deserve 'respect', and he was sending them 'loads of love', while being on the road during the contest last month.
The contest in Basel, Switzerland, in May was won by Austria's JJ with his emotional song Wasted Love.
Ryder, wearing a Dolly Parton T-shirt on This Morning, also said that he has put down 'roots' in Nashville, which is associated with the country singer.
He added: 'It's been a dream for a long time (to move there) and, but I didn't realise… finishing the album, my studio's here in the UK, so (I had) to come straight back and get the album done, so the problem is I've had zero sleep.'
Ryder, from Essex, began as a TikTok star.
He signed to the Parlophone record label, part of Warner Music Group, and released his debut EP, The Sun's Gonna Rise, in 2021, before going to Eurovision in 2022.
He was nominated for an Emmy for his Ted Lasso single, Fought & Lost, which he co-wrote for the hit Apple TV+ comedy.
He has released new music including a Christmas single, You're Christmas To Me, which reached number two in the charts and a number one album titled There's Nothing But Space, Man!

JoJo Siwa's ex Kath Ebbs finally breaks silence on Celebrity Big Brother star's relationship with Chris Hughes
Kath Ebbs has finally broken her silence on her ex JoJo Siwa 's relationship with Chris Hughes. JoJo, 22, and Chris, 32, first formed a close bond during their 19-day stint in the Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, where viewers became convinced there was more to their friendship than they admitted. After leaving the house in April, JoJo immediately broke up with Kath at the CBB wrap party, but went onto insist Chris was not to blame, and their relationship was strictly platonic. That is, until last week, when Chris posted an intimate snap of him and JoJo in bed together, and they confirmed that they are indeed in a relationship now. And now in a new TikTok video posted on Sunday, Kath finally shared her thoughts on Chris and JoJo's now public relationship. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The model uploaded a clip of her dancing with the caption: 'Shaking my a** instead of crashing tf out.' Believing she was referring to the situation with her ex, one follower commented on the post: 'I am happy for JoJo.' Kath quickly snapped back: 'Same! This has nothing to do with her :) wishing them the best.' However, in a new update, Kath took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday to rant about her comments on TikTok and share more insight into how she feels about the whole ordeal. Sharing a glum selfie, she penned: Another day B*tching about TikTok on Instagram cause love yall.. 'People constantly troll me and telling me to 'get over it' whilst simultaneously not getting over it themselves. Go be obsessed with those that are screaming for the attention, they love it and they are build for it. 'I'm not and never asked for any of this. My only crime was being in a committed loving relationship and then humiliated on a world stage. How does that make me a horrible person?' In a follow up snap, she continued: 'I've been working so hard to hold my own everyday through this. Using the tools I have to weather the storm, stay sane and sit knowing I don't need to share the truth of it with the world because those that actually matter in REAL life know exactly what happened and that should be all that matters to me. 'It's all be so so toxic and I'm at my wits end. We have seen the darkness that these kind of scandals can create but we never seem to learn out lesson. 'Last month was mental health month and this month is pride... I wish people would put themselves in someone else's shoes for a moment before indulging in this kind of online toxicity. 'Better yet to a person that literally did nothing wrong. I'm so sick of being gaslight over and over again by said people and the public. It needs to stop. 'You don't need to choose sides, instead you could do me the courtesy of letting me in heal in peace.' It comes after JoJo confirmed she's made her relationship with Chris official, as she gushed she's 'head over heels' for him after weeks of speculation. While JoJo has been grilled many times on her relationship status, she had been noticeably coy, simply branding Chris her 'favourite person in the world.' But in a new interview with Capital Radio, JoJo confirmed that she and Chris have made their relationship official, and she's started calling him her boyfriend. Speaking in a video for the channel's new series Capital Buzz, the dancer admitted that she's had to explain her viral 'Dream guest on my podcast' moment to Chris. She then added: 'I'm sure it's no secret to people, I am in a lovely relationship with a sweet boy named Christopher Hughes.' In an earlier interview with The Guardian, JoJo gushed about her blossoming romance with Chris, when asked whether things between them were still platonic. She said: 'It's not platonic any more, and it's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way.' The Dance Moms star also hit back at speculation that their relationship is a 'PR stunt,' saying: 'Clearly, you've never been around us. I won't ever speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life just radiates off of me right now. 'Literally yesterday, I was massaging my cheeks; I've never [before] been in pain from smiling so much.' On Sunday, Chris sent fans into a frenzy when he shared a steam bedroom snap with JoJo on Snapchat. Sharing the sweet image of himself and JoJo cuddled in bed together, he captioned the image: 'Sleeping beauty.' JoJo also appeared on Sunday's edition on Sunday Brunch, and fought back tears as she emotionally shared how Chris has been embraced by her family since he first flew to the US to surprise her for her 22nd birthday last month. She said: 'She loves him, she does love him. My parents think the absolute world of him, and him and my Dad are like best friends, Chris was actually telling me this yesterday, they went to the spa together yesterday. 'They're literally best friends, Mom Siwa she absolutely adores him. I love watching her watch us, because I've never seen my mom so happy, and it's... it's... I could cry. 'Honestly, it makes me happy to have everybody act as... it feels like we're a family, it feels like he's been in my family for how ever many years it feels like forever. 'He gets along as well as I do. I think he loves me becuase of my parents!'

A Maura lookalike & Arabella Chi's double… Love Island's predictable ‘clone' casting proves ITV is running out of ideas
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island's back, baby - and with it comes a brand new crop of Islanders all ready to storm the famous villa and snog their way to everlasting love. But who are these new faces that promise to occupy our summer viewing schedule and keep us hooked every night? 19 Host Maya Jama will be welcoming the new contestants to the villa on Monday Credit: ITV Well, in a case of mildly disappointing déjà vu, they seem to be the same faces we've seen for the last 10 years and counting. Yes, it's been a decade now since Love Island debuted on our TV screens - and those 10 years have produced more lookalikes than the permanent exhibition at Madame Tussauds. Every year we see a merry band of twentysomething singletons rock up in their skimpies, swearing they're so unique in their quest to find the one. And every year, without fail, they all look just the same as the ones who went before them. Honestly, how unique can you be when you're primped, buffed and preened to look like a walking, talking Love Island animatron, freshly churned out from the reality TV factory? The answer is: not very. When it comes to the girls, it's safe to say they ring a certain bell with their deep spray tans, and long wavy hair. Case in point, we have Dubliner Megan Forte Clarke, who could easily be a stand-in for fellow Irish lass and former villa dweller Maura Higgins. The two may not be related, but maybe there's something in the water over on the Emerald Isle. Then there are the boys, whose pecs are chiselled in the likeness of their predecessors. Ten Years of Love Island 19 Is that you, Maura? No, it's Megan Forte Clarke 19 We first thought Alima Gagio was Yewande from season five Take Tommy Bradley, whose megawatt smile and perfectly coiffed helmet hair make him an uncanny replacement for former winner Jack Fincham. Other clones - sorry, contestants - in the mix include Alima Gagio, Dejon Noel-Williams, Helena Ford and Megan Moore, who all bear glaring similarities with bygone Love Islanders. And it's not just the aesthetics. Already, we have the newbies promising us they're single and ready to mingle. But as they utter tired lines like 'my type on paper', 'putting all my eggs in one basket' and 'can I pull you for a chat?', it feels - once again - like we're just re-watching previous seasons. Even Iain Stirling can't hide his ennui. His voiceovers during the All Stars season in January hinted at a funnyman who knows he's worn out the same jokes about the same contestants ad nauseam. In the past, of course, the show has been slammed for its lack of diversity when it comes to race, age and body type - something producers have tried to improve upon. But as the new Islanders were unveiled this week, it was clear that producers hadn't tried hard enough. So, the question is why? There's an old adage: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And when it comes to the show's casting process, that seems to be ITV's MO. But the trouble is, it is broke. Earlier this year the show garnered 1.2m viewers for its grand final, which pales in comparison to the 3.4m people who tuned in to watch the show's final in 2019. Meanwhile rival reality show The Traitors, which actually casts normal-looking people with genuinely interesting backstories, pulled in more than seven million people for its explosive finale back in January. Clearly we're all getting a little tired of Love Island's same old song and dance routine - and the same roster of challenges, from Snog, Marry, Pie to the heart rate challenge. And ITV don't seem to be paying any attention. They're evidently looking for the daters who are 100 per cent their type on paper - even if they're copying and pasting, year by year. Will we still be watching? Yes, absolutely. But don't blame us if we still confuse the new Islanders for their bygone love-a-likes. The differences are subtle. Even Iain Stirling would struggle to tell them apart. Megan Forte Clarke and Maura Higgins 19 Megan is entering the villa on Monday Credit: Instagram/@meghanforteclarke 19 She'll be following in the footsteps of her villa lookalike, Maura New recruit Megan, 24, may have played the ugly stepsister in a panto production of Cinderella, but she's gunning for her own happy ever after in the villa. And judging by her striking looks, she won't be getting any boos and hisses inside. Followers have already compared her to Maura, 34, whose own modelling career skyrocketed after appearing in Love Island season five. Whether she meets the one or not, odds are that Megan's set for a similar trajectory (Oh no she isn't! Oh yes she is!) Dejon Noel-Williams and Omar Nyame 19 Dejon is used to whipping his personal training clients into shape Credit: Instagram/@dejonnoelwilliams 19 His lookalike, Omar, was also in the fitness biz as a PE teacher Credit: Instagram/@omarnyame Personal trainer, Dejon, 26, must be used to having clients begging to look just like him. But the former footballer isn't the first to rock a hot bod and braided hair. That mantle was taken last year - and again, in this year's All Stars villa - by former PE teacher Omar, 26. The pair could be twins; but what we want to know is, who would beat the other in a cardio challenge? Ben Holbrough and Adam Collard 19 Ben is a model in his day job Credit: Instagram/@ 19 His doppelganger, Adam, is also partial to a pose or two Credit: Instagram/@adamcollard When he's not modelling, Ben likes going to the gym… just like Adam, who - when he's not modelling - likes going to the gym. But while Ben is hardly vertically challenged at 6ft 2ins, it seems he'll still be looking up to his season four doppelganger, who stands tall at 6ft 5ins. Other than that, they're indistinguishable. We assume, given that we can't crane our necks that high to see. Alima Gagio and Yewande Biala 19 Alima has brains and beauty Credit: Instagram/@alimsssx 19 Just like her double, Yewande Credit: ITV Hailing from Glasgow, Alima, 23, says she's a good flirt. Here's hoping she has more luck in the villa than her doppelganger Yewande, 29, who was booted out of the villa after her partner Danny recoupled with Arabella. Meanwhile, it's not just beauty that these two have in common - they have the brains to match. While Yewande is a scientist, with a masters in pharmaceutical quality assurance and regulation, Alima is a client services executive in wealth management. Whether she cashes in once in the villa remains to be seen. Helena Ford and Arabella Chi 19 Helena loves travelling and posting pictures from sunkissed locations Credit: instagram 19 Arabella is a dead ringer - both in looks and in tropical locations Credit: Instagram/@arabellachi One of them is a smouldering blonde with fierce eyebrows and a jetset lifestyle… the other is a smouldering blonde with fierce eyebrows and a jetset lifestyle. But while Arabella, 34, who's had two unsuccessful stints in the villa, has recently welcomed her first baby, newbie Helena is on a very different path. Heading into the villa, the cabin crew member is looking for an excuse to finally settle down. And if she doesn't triumph this time round, she can always become an All Star like her Love Island lookalike. Tommy Bradley and Jack Fincham 19 Tommy's been pegged as the cheeky chappy of this year's Love Island Credit: instagram/_tommybradley_/ 19 Making him a worthy successor to the OG cheeky chappy, Jack Credit: ITV We had to do a double-take when we first saw Tommy, who - with his porcelain gnashers and helmet hair is the double of season five winner Jack, 34. Just like Jack, Tommy's been dubbed the 'cheeky chappy' of this year's villa - and, in another case of history repeating itself, he's also a keen boxer. However, unlike Jack, he's entering the villa absolutely ripped following a serious body overhaul. Very cheeky. Megan Moore and Shaughna Phillips 19 Megan's all set to look for love in this year's villa Credit: @Instagram/@ 19 Hopefully she'll have better luck than Shaughna did in 2020 Credit: Instagram/@shaughnaphillips Seasoned traveller Megan is often posting photos from sun-drenched locations - so she'll be in familiar surroundings in Spain. But will she have the same rollercoaster journey as Shaughna, 31, who quickly coupled up with Callum in season six, before being jilted after he went to Casa Amor? Still Shaughna clawed back her pride, uttering the iconic line, 'Congrats, hun.' If Megan tops that…well, congrats, hun. Lucy Quinn and Samantha Kenny 19 Lucy's set to enter as a bombshell Credit: Instagram/@lucyquinnmakeup_ 19 But will she have better luck than Samantha did last year? Credit: Instagram/@samanthakenny__ If you squint hard enough, these two are tough to tell apart. At least, they would be after two of those allocated Love Island vinos they get every night. New recruit Lucy, 20, is believed to be going in as a bombshell and has told insiders she's single and ready to mingle. Let's hope she has better luck than Samantha, who hooked up with Joey Essex, before he dumped her for Grace. Still both girls are make-up artists, so they're primed to paint smiles on their faces, whatever the outcome.

Love Island's Alex George reveals he has regular Botox after tragedy triggered freak condition… & admits ‘people stare'
The reality star, who also piled on 6st at his lowest ebb, has bravely opened up about how he copes with his demons DEALING WITH DEMONS Love Island's Alex George reveals he has regular Botox after tragedy triggered freak condition… & admits 'people stare' LOVE Island star Dr Alex George has bravely opened up about why he has regular Botox injections in his face. The 34-year-old, who featured in the fourth series of the ITV reality show in 2018, suffered an unimaginable tragedy five years ago. 8 Dr Alex featured on the fourth series of Love Island Credit: Rex 8 Alex's brother Llyr sadly died by suicide aged 19 His younger brother Llyr, also an aspiring doctor, took his own life aged 19 in 2020, leaving Alex and his family devastated. The sudden loss saw Alex struggle with PTSD, battle depression and pile on six stone. But he also developed facial tics, which become worse when he is anxious. Bravely opening up about how he copes with his demons, the Welsh doctor admitted he feels self-conscious of his involuntary movements, especially when people stare, and manages them with Botox injections. "In my life there has been things that happened out of the blue that ended up being very difficult for me," he said. 'Bad things that then have made me very hyper vigilant. 'I have PTSD. I have had tics since I was very young - maybe eight or nine. 'They are linked to my neurodivergence, my ADHD, there is quite a lot of crossover. 'Interestingly when I am really anxious my tics get really bad, they get so much worse. 'Problem is, the more I focus on it the worse it is. If you bring attention to it, it just gets worse and worse. Love Island 2025 cast revealed as footballer, actress and beauty influencer who cheated death sign up 'I think: 'Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it.' 'I've had Botox in my face to knock my tics out - it used to give me such bad headaches and facial pain so I just Botox it out. 'Maybe I should just stop it and just allow it. But I haven't quite got to that stage of it." He added: 'People do stare at you. They look at you. 'Mine are my forehead and my nose. Because I can't Botox this area out, I still twitch a lot around my nose, mouth and lip. 'People who know me can see the twitch, they can see the tic, they know it is there. 'I have it a little bit in my arm as well, and my wrist. I roll my wrist and stuff. 'When you focus on it in a negative sense it just becomes worse and that feeds the anxiety of it as well.' 8 Following his brothers death, Alex's weight soared from 14 to 20 stone Credit: dralexgeorge/Instagram 8 Alex has since shed the weight by quitting booze and taking up running Credit: Instagram 8 Alex had a brief relationship with Alexandra Cane during his time on the show Credit: ITV/REX At his lowest ebb, Alex turned to drinking heavily in a bid to numb the pain. His weight soared from 14st to 20st, but he has since shed the pounds by overhauling his lifestyle, quitting booze for good and taking up running. Alex also started taking anti-depressants and launched his campaign 'Post Your Pill' to remove the stigma and shame surrounding the medication. And he got three inspirational tattoos, including one on his left wrist that says 'This too shall pass.' Gut-wrenching phone call Although Alex and Llyr were born ten years apart, they were very close. Alex even chose his brother's unusual name, which means God of the Sea in Welsh. Llyr was due to take up his hard won place at Southampton Medical School when he died. He had no prior history of a diagnosed mental health condition, and had not disclosed how he was feeling. Speaking on his new motivational health podcast Stompcast, Alex added how Llyr's death has changed his own outlook on life. 'My brother was alive one second, we had a phone call, and he is not here any more," he said. 'That is what I am looking out for in everything - my brain is going, 'You weren't prepared, and something really bad happened'. 8 Alex has been open about taking anti-depressants Credit: Instagram 8 After Love Island Alex dated Amelia Bath, but it appears he is currently single Credit: Instagram 'So looking in any situation, 'What is the bad thing here?' 'And it is odd because when I was growing up, I was quite impulsive, I would go for life and do everything. 'Jump now and worry later, and I am so different to that now - since that happened. 'My mum often says, 'That boy within you, I used to say, slow down, think about this twice. It is a shame that has been dwindled a bit'. 'There is this constant need to be sure that everything is going to be ok. You can't.' Former A&E doctor Alex failed to find love in the TV villa, despite a brief fling with brunette beauty Alexandra Cane. My brother was alive one second, we had a phone call, and he is not here any more Dr Alex George Since his stint on the matchmaking show he has gone on to become a mental health advocate, and in 2021 he became the UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador. He said: 'It was really interesting that when I was in med school, the med student's anxiety around health is really common - especially in the first couple of years, you start doing these cases of a new bodily system and disease associated with it. 'Every week I would be like, 'Oh my God I've got it.' 'I think I had every single disease in the first two years - seriously I would have to be like, 'Alex, stop, you are being silly'. 'By the third or fourth year I could have anything, so I stopped worrying about it. 'Everything could kill me, so whatever.' Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now. That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.
