Inter Milan & Italy Star Declares ‘When You Lose There Are Two Roads Ahead Of You' – Praises New Coach Chivu + Summer Signings
Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni believes that 'when you lose there are two roads ahead of you' heading into the new season. The Italian international gave his thought to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of the start of the new season. He also praised coach Cristian Chivu and the new summer signings. Inter Milan endured a miserable end to last season. During April, the Nerazzurri were in the running for the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League. However, Inter bombed out of the Coppa in a 3-0 loss against city rivals AC Milan. Following this, they surrendered their advantage in the Serie A table to Napoli. Inter lost out on the title to Napoli on the final day of the season. They lost by a single point, having squandered their final opportunity to regain top spot in a 2-2 draw against Lazio. Then, Inter's feel-good Champions League knockout run came to an absolutely screeching halt in the final. They lost to Paris Saint-Germain, by a record-breaking 5-0 margin. And then as if all that wasn't enough, Inter also went out of the Club World Cup at the round of sixteen stage against Fluminense. (Photo by) Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni gave his thoughts ahead of the upcoming season. 'We've never lacked hunger,' he said. 'When you lose, there are two roads ahead of you,' the 26-year-old continued. 'Either you start again, or you give up.' 'We've chosen to start again. And to embrace this project more than ever.' 'We have the desire to bring these colours back to the top,' Bastoni declared. As far as Cristian Chivu replacing Simone Inzaghi at the helm, the Italian international commented that 'with a change in coach, certain habits also change.' Bastoni admitted that 'the training methods are much tougher.' 'He focuses a lot on intensity,' said the Inter defender. 'The work with the ball is much more vertical. He wants to get it to the forwards right away.' 'We still have a few days to get used to his philosophy,' Bastoni said. 'But on a human level, he's been a great surprise.' 'We have no doubt that he'll do well.' Then, Bastoni also declared that 'the new signings all have top quality.' 'They'll definitely give us a big boost.' 'We need fresh blood in this group that's been here for 5-7 years,' Bastoni said. 'Beyond the technical side of things, where obviously they're good – otherwise they wouldn't have come to Inter – what we need is a lot of enthusiasm.'

Inter set to seal Lens central midfielder Andy Diouf
Inter remain extremely active within the summer market with two days remaining until the start of the 2025/26 Serie A campaign, as the Nerazzurri are prepared to finalize the transfer of Lens holding midfielder Andy Diouf. Milanese journal La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the 21 year-old French international is set to sign a five-year deal worth €2m per-season with the Beneamata that will run until 2030. Inter have reached an agreement with the French outfits for a fixed transfer fee of €20m plus an additional €5m in bonuses, and the rising star is now set to arrive in Milan tomorrow to complete his medicals. Diouf was well within the radar of Napoli as potential acquisition to complete the department at the middle of the park for the Partenopei, but Inter managed to win the race in obtaining the services of 2003-born midfielder. Inter were intrigued by the Lens midfielder following the collapse of negotiations for Roma star Manu Kone due to Diouf's capability of playing as a box-to-box midfielder, as well as an attacking midfielder higher up the pitch at such a young age. (Photo by) The Rossoneri have been actively searching for a new centre-forward over the last few weeks given that Santiago Gimenez is currently the only senior striker in Massimiliano Allegri's squad. A slight injury to Rafael Leao, who had started as a centre-forward in Milan's first competitive match of the 2025-26 season, has also increased the urgency for a new striker in San Siro. (Photo by) Milan had also been linked with moves for Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund and Juventus's Dusan Vlahovic, but have been unable to come to a full agreement with any of the aforementioned parties despite weeks of negotiations. Once Boniface's move is completed, he will become Milan's eighth new signing of the summer transfer window, following the previous arrivals of Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter, Pervis Estupinan, Zachary Athekame and Pietro Terracciano.
