🚨 Milan stun Bologna with late comeback win as UCL hopes suffer huge blow

🚨 Milan stun Bologna with late comeback win as UCL hopes suffer huge blow Milan dealt Bologna's hopes of Champions League qualification a huge blow with a comeback 2-1 win at the San Siro in a dress rehearsal of the Coppa Italia final. Scorers: Giménez 73', 90+2', Pulisic 79'; Orsolini 49' Advertisement Milan's hopes of keeping European qualification alive via the league suffered an early blow when Fikayo Tomori was forced off after just 14 minutes with a freak head injury. The defender did well to intercept a Bologna cross field ball and head it back to Mike Maignan, but ended up stumbling and falling head first into Benjamín Domínguez. He was taken off for tests, with his chances of making Wednesday's cup final now in jeopardy. The Rossoneri bounced back to shade the rest of the opening 45, with Christian Pulisic and João Félix having their best efforts, but they could not find the breakthrough. Just four minutes after the break, Bologna did through top scorer Riccardo Orsolini. Łukasz Skorupski went long from his goal, and Thijs Dallinga's flick found the forward. Advertisement From here, it was all about Orsolini, as he cut inside onto his left foot and curled a brilliant strike past Maignan and into the far corner. It was his 15th goal in all competitions of his best season to date for the club. After his involvement in the opener, Skorupski kept his side ahead with a fine save from Théo Hernandez as Milan looked for a way back into the contest. It would be the final 20 minutes where they did, flipping the game on its head completely. Substitute Santiago Giménez drew them level in the 73rd minute with a very cool finish from inside the box. Pulisic, who provided the assist for the equaliser, then netted the winner just six minutes later, sending Skorupski the wrong way after the ball fell to him 12 yards out. Advertisement Giménez sealed the win in stoppage time to move Milan into eight, just two points behind Bologna, whose hopes of Champions League qualification suffer a major blow. Wednesday night will show whether Milan's comeback has had a psychological impact when these two sides face off at the Stadio Olimpico. 📸 Marco Luzzani - 2025 Getty Images
