Tomori's World Cup hopes boosted after talks with Thomas Tuchel
The 27-year-old won the first of his five caps while still at Chelsea, in 2019. He was an AC Milan player by the time he last appeared for his country in November 2023, in a 2-0 win against Malta.
Having been overlooked for Gareth Southgate's 2022 Qatar squad, he is hoping a new lease of life at Milan under the guidance of their new coach Max Allegri, will help him fulfil his dream.
'Every season is important but when it is a World Cup season, it is a little bit different,' Tomori said on the eve of AC Milan's pre-season clash with Arsenal, in Singapore.
'I spoke to Tuchel at the end of last season, before the international break.
'He told me to keep doing what I am doing and keep improving. If I do well and Milan does well then I have a good chance of going.
'Of course it is in my head because I have never been to a World Cup and it would be a really proud moment for sure.
'Every player wants to play for their country and play in the World Cup so there is a different feeling.
'At this moment in time I am just focussing on trying to get ready for the new season and hopefully if Milan do well and I do too then I have a chance.'
Tomori has featured 177 times for the Rossoneri and won the 2021/22 Serie A title during his time in Milan. He will face off against Arsenal for the second time in his career, and is adamant the match against Mikel Arteta's side will be a good test for his team.
'I know English teams well, they're tough to play against. We'll have to stay focused. Arsenal are a very good team, it's part of our preparation and whatever team they play it will be a good match. It will be a good preparation for the upcoming season.'

Arsenal have made their move for Eberechi Eze and the player wants to join them from Crystal Palace. Talks over the England international between Palace chairman Steve Parish and counterpart Daniel Levy have taken place over recent days but Arsenal's interest has remained with negotiations now underway between the clubs following the knee injury suffered by Kai Havertz. Eze ended last season with nine goals in his final 13 matches for Palace, including the winner in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City and a goal in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal. Despite speculation over his future, Eze started for Oliver Glasner's side in the Community Shield win over Liverpool and Sunday's Premier League opener against Chelsea. NASCAR's 2026 schedule shake-up: New street race, Chicagoland's return, and more
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR in 2026 will race on a new street course in San Diego, return Chicagoland Speedway to the schedule, move the All-Star race to Dover, Delaware, and end its 38-race season back at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The schedule released Wednesday includes two off weekends on a calendar that stretches from February to November. It begins with the exhibition Clash on Feb. 1 at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem for the second consecutive year, with the season-opening Daytona 500 to follow on Feb. 15. The season ends Nov. 8 in Florida at Homestead, which hosted the championship-deciding finale for 18 consecutive years before NASCAR shifted it to Phoenix Raceway in 2020. The race at Phoenix was given a different date in the playoffs and NASCAR is expected to rotate the season finale to various venues in ensuing years. Chicagoland is reopening after a six-year hiatus and a switch back to the track located in suburban Joliet after three seasons on a temporary street circuit in downtown Chicago. The San Diego event will be held on a military base in Coronado. To add Chicagoland and San Diego, NASCAR dropped the Chicago street race and will not return to Mexico City, where it held the first international Cup Series points race since the 1950s. A return to Mexico City in 2026 became difficult to schedule because of soccer's World Cup. NASCAR also moved Watkins Glen in New York from its traditional August date to Mother's Day weekend and the all-star race from North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to Dover so that North Wilkesboro will be a points-paying Cup race, and New Hampshire lost its playoff race to become the penultimate race of the regular season.
