Phone Tapping: BRS leaders to knock at Guv's door to complain against CM
During a press conference at the party's Telangana Bhavan office, BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar and others demanded an inquiry into the allegations by a sitting judge of the High Court. Praveen Kumar specifically accused Revanth Reddy of tapping the phones of key BRS figures and members of his own cabinet. He cited an instance where Revanth Reddy reportedly knew about a casual conversation between two ministers through tapping, subsequently questioning one of them about it. Praveen Kumar noted that as Chief Minister and Home Minister, all alleged phone tapping falls under Revanth Reddy's purview. He further alleged that the BJP at the Centre was also involved in tapping the phones of BRS and Congress leaders in the state, claiming Revanth Reddy's actions are supported by the BJP.
The BRS leader further alleged that the Chief Minister reprimanded a journalist stationed in New Delhi for speaking to party leader T Harish Rao over the phone. Praveen Kumar questioned how Revanth Reddy could have known about the conversation if phone tapping was not involved. He also raised concerns about the ongoing phone tapping case (Panjagutta PS 243 case), stating he received a notice on 14 July, yet a Telugu newspaper reported it on 7 July. This, he argued, suggests premature leaking of investigation details.
Praveen Kumar also voiced suspicions about the involvement of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Revanth Reddy's alleged phone tapping, and suggested that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's phone might also be under surveillance by Revanth Reddy. The BRS demanded that the government submit a sealed list to the High Court detailing whose phones are being tapped. They also called for a committee, comprising the Chief Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, a High Court judge, and relevant officials, to monitor phone tapping in accordance with the Telegraph Act. Praveen Kumar highlighted Section 5 of the Telegraph Act, which permits phone tapping only if unavoidable in the interest of national security.
Praveen Kumar reiterated the BRS's demand for an investigation by a sitting High Court judge into the phone tapping allegations.

Hyderabad: BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Thursday urged Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu to consider the Four Water Concept (FWC) of late engineer T Hanumanth Rao as an alternative to the Polavaram (Godavari)-Banakacharla Link Project (PBLP). In a letter to Naidu, Shashidhar Reddy, Former Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), said FWC is a viable, low-cost alternative to the Banakacharla project, which can be implemented in about two years. The FWC is capable of providing water for three crops annually and can cater to 30 lakh acres at a total cost of just Rs 4,500 crores (at Rs 15,000 per acre at current rates). This would be a fraction of even the minimum basic estimated cost of Rs 81,900 crore for the Banakacharla project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government, he said. Shashidhar Reddy recalled that Naidu, as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, had launched the 'Neeru-Meeru' (massive watershed managment) programme in 2000 in the wake of a devastating drought. The project yielded "excellent results". "I see you as a visionary and a class apart. I am confident that you will seriously consider shelving the Polavaram-Banakacharla project and opt for implementing FWC at a fraction of its cost with triple benefit of providing water for three crops in a year," he said in the letter to Naidu. In the Four Waters concept, the focus is on using rainwater, surface water, groundwater, and maintenance of soil moisture at a high level to improve water availability and agricultural productivity. The concept promotes the use of simple, low-cost earthen structures like percolation tanks, farm ponds, and trenches instead of large cement structures. The Polavaram (Godavari)-Banakacharla Link Project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government faced opposition from Telangana. The Telangana government complained to the Union Jal Shakti Ministry that the project hurts the state's interests.

Rahul vs EC on 'vote chori': Karnataka poll body chief asks for names of electors; wants 'declaration under oath'
The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka on Thursday asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to share names of electors that he had alleged in a press conference were included or excluded wrongfully from the voters' list of the state along with a signed declaration for the poll authorities to initiate "necessary proceedings" in the state poll body wrote to Gandhi soon after he levelled allegations of vote fraud, saying, "you had mentioned about the inclusion of ineligible electors and exclusion of eligible electors in the Electoral Rolls... You are kindly requested to sign and return the enclosed declaration/oath under Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, along with the name(s) of such elector(s) so that necessary proceedings can be initiated." Rahul was speaking at a press conference in Delhi, where he also presented data and polling analysis, accusing the poll body of colluding with the ruling BJP in many states. If the EC does not give us machine-readable data for the past 10-15 years and the CCTV footage, they are partaking in the crime, Gandhi said.
