Coronation Street fans beg for 'awful' couple to break up on the show soon

Yahooa day ago

Coronation Street fans have called for a couple to break up on the ITV soap, saying their relationship is "awful".
This concerns the characters DS Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers) and Carla Connor (Alison King).
Lisa and Carla became a couple on the show in 2024 and currently live together alongside Lisa's teenage daughter, Betsy (Sydney Martin).
A recent storyline has seen trouble in the relationship as Lisa has been struggling following the death of her employee, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
Amid this, Lisa asked Carla to marry her, before later revealing that her emotions might have gotten the better of her in the moment.
Carla explained that she wants them to get married one day, but said that she needed it to be out of "love, not grief".
It has resulted in Lisa giving Carla the cold shoulder in recent episodes, and some fans want the relationship to end.
A post made on the Coronation Street Reddit page brought up the topic of Lisa and Carla's relationship not working anymore.
The person wrote: "I was one of the people who originally loved the idea of these two being a couple. On paper, I thought they just really suited as both characters are similar to each other so I was looking forward to seeing them together.
"However, I couldn't have been more wrong.
"Carla is a shell of the woman she used to be. Swain always has something to moan and complain about regarding Carla and I honestly think it's terrible, borderline abusive behaviour from her."
They discussed events of recent episodes where Lisa rebuffed Carla's attempts at a romantic dinner, and said they wanted Carla "back to her old feisty self".
Quite a few people agreed with the sentiment as one shared: "I also liked them to begin with. They seemed well matched as two strong no-nonsense women. The chemistry was understandable.
"But Swain is AWFUL. She takes Betsy's bad behaviour (although Betsy's naughtiness is growing on me) out on Carla all the time, and is just always in a foul mood."
A third commented: "Swain is annoying just treats Carla like a doormat. The writing has been poor since they got together clearly there was no long-term planning and they live in absolute misery."
Many viewers want to see better things for Carla, as another said: "Loathe Swain and her awful daughter, Carla deserves better but I never ever believed that she would want someone whose crapness at her job would result in so much suffering for Roy."

Some noticed that their relationship had taken a downward turn too quickly, as one person posted: "I agree with you. I was excited to see them together but they've rushed the honeymoon period completely and turned them into a bickering, bored couple.
"I had higher expectations for Swain's character. It just all feels a bit flat now. All she does is moan and nothing is ever good enough."
One simply said: "I really hope they split up too. Carla deserves so much more."

Simon Cowell admits he's ‘very worried' about giving his son this as he gets older

During an interview with ITV's This Morning, 'America's Got Talent' judge Simon Cowell opened up about being a parent to a now 11-year-old son. Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman share son, Eric Cowell. And as his son continues to get older, Cowell admitted that he's getting more and more nervous about an upcoming milestone, giving Eric his first cell phone. For Cowell, getting Eric a phone means giving his son 'access to anything,' according to People. 'I'm very worried, Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age,' Cowell told Jeff Brazier with ITV, a British broadcast television network. 'I grew up ... learning things at the right time, the right age, etcetera, etcetera. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything that would really worry me.' In addition to worrying about giving Eric too much information too soon, Cowell opened up about one of the lessons his mom bestowed upon him that he will also bestow upon Eric. 'My mom used to say, manners make the man, and my dad was very good about respecting other people, and I'm trying to do the same thing with him,' Cowell continued. 'Don't make it overcomplicated, you know? Find your path, be happy, [and] be respectful to other people.' Cowell has often discussed his love of being a dad to Eric. He told Brazier that fatherhood is 'the best thing to ever happen' to him 'out of everything I've ever done in my life.' 'The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed,' Cowell recalled. 'When he was a baby, because they don't really do anything, I'm like, 'Well why doesn't he like me?' and Lauren was going, 'He's a baby' and I didn't understand that. Then, at about a year and a half, we started to communicate, that was magic.' But despite saying Eric is the reason for his 'softer' side, that doesn't mean Eric will get a free pass from his father's infamous judgment for talent. 'If Eric said to me, 'I want to be a singer' and he couldn't sing, I would be absolutely honest with him,' Cowell admitted, according to the Daily Star. 'If he couldn't, I would say, 'You know what, be a drummer'.' However, Cowell is confident he won't have to have that conversation because at just 11 years old, Eric is already proving he has musical talent. 'Eric actually can play the drums well but he's quite shy. I walk and I hear him, and he stops. I say, 'Why are you stopping?' and he says, 'Well, I'm a bit embarrassed' and I say, 'Well don't be, you're really good.''

Doom: The Dark Ages PS5 Trophy Glitch Made Worse by Update

Annoying PS5 ' glitch was supposed to be fixed with update 1 that rolled out last week, but it has actually made the problem worse. Not only does the trophy remain glitched for some players, there are reports that those who haven't fulfilled the requirements for it are randomly unlocking the trophy after booting up Doom: The Dark Ages following the patch. It's unclear what triggers the Berserker trophy glitch. As previously explained, the trophy requires players to acquire all Shield Base, Shield Rune, and Melee Weapon upgrades. However, some players aren't able to unlock the trophy despite trying numerous suggested workarounds. It was initially assumed that the trophy becomes glitched if players purchase the upgrades naturally while playing the game, but works if all the upgrades are purchased in one go. However, that isn't the case for everyone. Our guess is that there is a very specific trigger for the glitch that no one has figured out yet. Fast forward to last week, when Bethesda claimed that Doom: The Dark Ages update 1 fixes the Berserker trophy retroactively. While the update worked for a number of players, many of those who experienced the glitch took to Twitter, Reddit, and PSNProfiles to complain that they're still stuck with the glitch. Over on PSNProfiles, several commenters said that they are on their first playthrough of the game and have not fulfilled Berserker's requirements, but saw the trophy pop when booting up Doom: The Dark Ages after applying update 1. There's no comment from Bethesda at the time of this writing, but we'll try to get a response.
