ESPN's Jay Harris shares major health update after prostate cancer reveal
In a social media video posted Monday, the 60-year-old ESPN stalwart explained his prostate cancer did not spread and that he's doing well while recovering at home.
'My doctor said the surgery went really well,' Harris said. 'So well, in fact, that the cancer that was in my prostate stayed there. It didn't spread to any surrounding areas. So when he took the prostate out, he took that with it. So it's all good.
Harris added he'll be resting at home and will return to work next month.
'There are other details that I won't bore you with, but the main thing is, we're all good. And [I'm] looking forward to July 12, getting back to 'SportsCenter,' getting back to work.

Harris received an outpouring of support on Instagram from his ESPN colleagues, including Kimberley Martin, Kelsey Riggs and Ryan Clark.

Harris revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis on June 5 during an appearance on 'Good Morning America,' explaining at the time that his doctor was 'quite optimistic' about his prognosis.
Around the same time, Harris shared in an essay for ESPN Front Row that he learned of his prostate cancer diagnosis 'over a month ago.'
He added his dad 'had a bout with prostate cancer, which he won.'

'It's jarring news for sure, yet unfortunately, it's not unexpected, given my family history and demographic. Prostate cancer disproportionately affects Black men. My dad had a bout with prostate cancer, which he won.
'I'm 60. It's something I've always been cognizant of, and my doctor and I talk about it every annual visit. And I'm sharing it all with my 26-year-old son. Maybe I'm oversharing at times — lol — but he needs to know.'

What's more, Marcus Jr.'s mother was also a standout basketball star. Aiysha Smith played at LSU before the Washington Mystics selected her with the seventh overall pick in the 2003 WNBA Draft. Suffice it to say, Marcus Jr. has some serious basketball pedigree. 'I have a lot of respect for my peers and they are great talents as well. To be recognized as the top player in the country in my class is not only an honor but a testament to all the work that's been put in so far," Marcus Jr. said via ESPN. "Much more work to do but honored to be in this spot. The work is all that matters." It goes without saying, Marcus Jr. will have plenty of collegiate options. According to the national recruiting site 247Sports, Marcus Jr. already has 12 offers, including from Kentucky, Houston and, of course, LSU. No word if Marcus Sr. will encourage his son to follow in his parent's footsteps and become a Tiger, but it's safe to say Marcus Sr. will carve out time from his busy schedule as an NFL analyst to watch his son ball out. Rob Manfred hints at geographic realignment in MLB — what would spur it on
Rob Manfred hinted that geographical realignment for Major League Baseball's divisions could be on the horizon. The MLB commissioner appeared on ESPN's broadcast of Sunday night's Little League Classic between the Mets and Mariners when the topic of expansion and realigned divisions came up. 'I think we could save a lot of wear and tear on our players in terms of travel. And I think our postseason format would be even more appealing for entities like ESPN, because you'd be playing out of the East and out of the West.' MLB hasn't expanded since the Diamondbacks and Rays entered the league in 1998, but the league is reportedly eying expansion once the Athletics and Rays solve their stadium situations. Nashville has been among the list of cities that could be eying bringing an MLB franchise to town and one that the league is interested in, according to USA TODAY. 'I think the owners realize there is demand for major league baseball in a lot of great cities, and we have an opportunity to do something good around that expansion process,' Manfred said. Manfred had previously stated that he would like to add two more teams to MLB before he retires as commissioner in 2029. Vikings' male cheerleaders hit back in social media post after fan backlash
Two male Vikings cheerleaders don't seem to be taking any of the backlash that they've gotten from some football fans to heart since the team announced their inclusion in the 2025 squad in a post on social media. Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn will be members of the Vikings cheer team, which sparked criticism and even some fans threatening to not be fans of the team anymore. However, Shiek seemed to address the controversy by poking fun at all of the people discussing him.
