KIIT Ranks 5th in India in Times Higher Education Impact Global Rankings 2025
This year too, KIIT has excelled in the Times Higher Education Impact Global Rankings 2025. The University has been recognised for its impact across three key criteria. KIIT-DU has secured the top position in the country for its efforts in reducing inequality (SDG-10) and for its commitment to peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG-16) and affordable clean energy (SDG-7). Additionally, it has been ranked third in India for ensuring quality education (SDG-4).
Overall, KIIT University stood fifth among all Indian universities in the Impact Rankings. Globally, it was placed in the 101 cohort in this year's rankings, which evaluate institutions based on their contributions towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over 2,400 universities, this year, from 130 countries participated in the ranking.

Sri Lanka to expand free trade agreements to boost exports, foreign exchange
The Sri Lankan government plans to sign more free trade agreements (FTAs) with foreign partners to diversify its export markets and boost foreign exchange earnings, media reports said on Sunday, citing a senior official. Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe said market diversification is critical to building a competitive and resilient export sector, Xinhua News Agency reported. He noted that expanding trade partnerships will not only help diversify products but also strengthen integration into global supply chains. The government is also focused on increasing value addition and building stronger brand recognition, he said. Abeysinghe highlighted that Sri Lanka's apparel exports generated more than $5 billion in 2024. The government aims to raise that figure to $8 billion by 2030. In July, the Sri Lankan government gazetted the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill, aiming to abolish special privileges granted to former Presidents and their widows. The bill follows cabinet approval to amend the Presidents' Entitlements Act No. 4 of 1986. The proposed changes are designed to end longstanding benefits for former presidents and their widows. Sri Lanka currently provides a range of privileges for these groups. Earlier this year, a government minister disclosed that the state spent more than Rs 1.1 billion (about $3.7 million) in 2024 on benefits for former Presidents. The move to repeal these entitlements fulfils a key pledge of the current administration. On July 22, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the publication of a draft bill to repeal the Presidents' Entitlements Act, effectively revoking special privileges granted to former Presidents and their families. The move is in line with the government's policy declaration 'Pohosath Ratak – Lassana Jeewithayak', which pledges to reduce state expenditure and promote accountability.

Licensed surveyors' services from Gandhi Jayanti: Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the services of licensed surveyors will be made available across the State from October 2. The Minister revealed that the second phase of training for licensed surveyors will commence from August 18 at 23 district centres. He directed candidates to report to the Assistant Director of the Survey department in their respective districts by 10 a.m. on the same day. At a review meeting with officials on Sunday, Mr. Ponguleti said that as per the provisions of the Bhoobharati Act, survey maps have been made mandatory at the time of land registration. To meet this requirement, the government is expediting the induction of licensed surveyors. He said that the first phase of training had already been completed, with 7,000 candidates trained between May 26 and July 26. Practical examinations were conducted under the supervision of JNTU on July 28 and 29, and the results were declared. Successful candidates have since been undergoing 40 days of apprenticeship training, after which licenses will be issued to them. To ensure transparency, the Minister instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive Survey Manual. He stressed the inter-dependence of the Revenue and Survey departments, stating that strengthening the Survey department would directly improve services in the Revenue system. 'The BRS government completely neglected the Survey department in the last 10 years. The present government is determined to revive and revitalise it and provide efficient, transparent services to the people,' the Minister said.

I feel sad leaving a fantastic group of people behind who were my friends and family for the past year during this mission.
