altonganj: Encroachers of forest areas at Bansi Khurd on Wednesday night attacked forest personnel. A forest office driver, Deo Sharan Mahto, was hurt in the head and lower jaw.
Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav said, "The injured forest driver is admitted at the MMCH in Daltonganj. His condition is stable."
Another forest staff, who sustained injuries, was discharged after first aid.
Divisional forest officer of Medininagar forest division, Satyam Kumar, said, "The forest land encroachers have prevented govt personnel from discharging duties and harmed them. We have drawn a case of severe offence against the attackers under our Forest Act."
Sources said with the help of the tractor, the encroachers were tilling the jungle land for the rainy season crop cultivation. The incident took place late in the evening on Wednesday. About two months ago, at least five forest personnel were attacked and injured by a mob of people who were lured to attack the forest team by the network of the illegal stone quarries and crushing plants' owners under the Chhaterpur police station limits.
Sources said during the time of the DFO, Satyam Kumar, forest teams have stepped up their drive against the abuse of forest land and illegal stone mining. Sources said the forest department is conducting drives against illegal stone mining which had led to depletion of the underground water table besides destruction of forests.
Officer in charge of the Manatu police station, Nirmal Oraon, said one forest guard, Sanjay Lakra, lodged the FIR against 15 named accused.

A sub-inspector of police of Manatu police station, Anish Raj, said out of the 15 named accused, around half a dozen of them are women. The encroachers used the women as a human shield.
Police have drawn a dozen sections of the BNS along with section 33 of the forest act. Sources said when the forest team was under attack, the Manatu police rushed to the team and brought them back without more adverse effects. Police officer Nirmal Oraon said if the forest team had informed us in advance about their late evening raid on the encroachers of the forest land, this incident could have been averted.

Brother duo from Bihar caught in Surat for getting Aadhaar forged to get accommodation, land job

Surat police have nabbed a man and his younger brother — both natives of Bihar — for allegedly procuring Aadhaar cards with a fake name to get a house and land a job at a diamond factory in Surat. While the elder brother was produced before a court on Tuesday and sent to a two-day police remand, the younger one, a juvenile, was sent to a children's remand home in Katargam. Special Operations Group officials had on Monday evening reached a flat on the third floor of Shiv Heritage Apartment in Surat's Sagrampura area, acting on a tip-off about the accused. They found two persons, who identified themselves as Pradeep Maurya and Pankaj Maurya and claimed that they hailed from Bihar's Katihar district. The duo said they were working at a diamond factory in Katargam. However, they soon confessed to having forged Aadhaar cards. The elder brother was identified as Mohammed Afridi Wajidali (25). The younger brother is 17-year-old, officers said. The accused said they had been facing issues while they were searching for an accommodation. They said that when they found a house in Sagrampura, they were allegedly told that the owner only rents it out to people from the Hindu community. The accused then got Aadhaar cards made with fake Hindu names and started to live in the flat on rent. They also allegedly used the same Aadhaar card to land a job at the factory, officers said.. Police arrested Wajidali under BNS sections 319 (cheating by personation), 336(2) (forgery), 336(3)(forgery with the intent to cheat), 338 (forgery of valuable security, wills and related documents), 340 (using forged documents as genuine). Talking to The Indian Express, Athwalines police inspector H K Solanki said, 'We have arrested the elder brother and the younger one was sent to a children's remand home. They hail from Bihar and were staying in Surat and working at a diamond unit for the past one year. They had got documents forged to get a place to stay and a job in the city. We are trying to dig out more information. We are also trying to ascertain if they had any other motive.'

Puppy killed during attack on owner at Rajajipuram fuel stn

Lucknow: A man was brutally assaulted by a group of 7–8 individuals at a petrol pump in Rajajipuram, during which his two-month-old puppy was fatally injured. The attack occurred around 11:30 am on Aug 1, but the case came to light after a video of the assault went viral late Monday, prompting the victim to lodge a formal complaint at Talkatora police station. According to the FIR, the victim — Phooldeep Srivastava — was on his way to a veterinary clinic along with his friend Akshat and his ailing puppy when he stopped at the Tempo Stand petrol pump to refuel. It was there that a group of unidentified assailants confronted and began attacking him without provocation. Phooldeep said in his written complaint that while he was still seated on his motorcycle, the attackers began hitting him with sticks and fists. When his relative tried to intervene, one of the attackers — identified as Abhijeet Singh — allegedly struck Phooldeep on the head with a metal rod, causing serious bleeding and injuries. Amid the chaos, the attackers also allegedly manhandled the relative and trampled the puppy, named 'Hickey', leading to its death. The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the petrol pump. "Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered under Sections 191(2), 115(2), and 325 of BNS, 2023, and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960," said Talkatora SHO Kuldeep Dubey. "We are analysing the CCTV footage and efforts are on to identify and arrest all accused." The FIR names Abhijeet Singh as the prime accused, along with 7–8 unidentified individuals who remain absconding. |
