BMX rider jumps over speeding F1 car in 'scariest stunt yet'

A BMX stunt performer from Stranraer said he has performed his 'scariest stunt yet' by jumping over an F1 car that was speeding towards him. Footage of the stunt shows Red Bull athlete Kriss Kyle jumping over a Red Bull RB7 Formula One car at Goodwood Race Track, courtesy of a small ramp, as it sped towards him at 40 miles an hour. 'I thought about the idea two years ago. I'm always trying to think about what no one has done before. My last big one was the hot air project – this one was even scarier', Kriss told STV News. Red Bull via Supplied The challenge was a world first. 'Nothing in your head can prepare you for that car coming at you at 40 miles an hour. 'It's faster than the blink of an eye. 'The noise of the car just screams at you, it's like razor blades coming at you.' The 33-year-old had spent seven months preparing for the challenge, which was organised and supported by his sponsor, Red Bull. Kriss said if he clipped the car's wing mirror, he 'could have died' – adding that he only had one chance to get the jump right. 'My mum and wife always think I'm going to die, so I always phone them straight away after'. Kriss Kyle, BMX stunt rider The BMX rider had to hang in the air – which was windy on the day of the jump – long enough for the car to pass below him, before landing on two wheels on the track. 'There were also really strong headwinds on the day, and that can mess up my running speed. I knew that if I clipped the rear wing, I could be dead. 'It was a pretty surreal experience. Red Bull via Supplied Kriss has said he has a 'few more tricks planned'. 'The feeling I get before doing these things is horrible, but I know I need to push through because after is the best feeling in the world of self-achievement. 'It's also such a relief of emotions. My mum and wife always think I'm going to die, so I always phone them straight away. Kriss's last stunt saw him performing a series of audacious tricks and stunts while floating some 2,000ft above towns and countryside in a hot air balloon in Wiltshire, southwest England. He said he was already dreaming up his next stunt before jumping over the F1 car – and said the next one will involve aeroplanes in some form. 'I've got a few more tricks planned. Even before I finished this one, I'm already thinking about what's next. 'I've got a few that involve aeroplanes. 'I just love taking bikes where they have not been before.' Eubank Jr and Benn rematch rescheduled for November 15 in London

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn's rematch will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November, according to Ring Magazine. The men had been due to go head to head for a second time on September 20 but, with Eubank Jr claiming he would not be ready for that date, the bout has now been scheduled for Saturday, November 15. Eubank Jr won a ferocious first meeting, fought at the 160lb middleweight limit, on a unanimous points decision, with all three judges scoring the contest 116-112 at the same venue in April. He later claimed he had undergone eye surgery after being 'headbutted' by Benn and spent two nights in hospital as a result of severe dehydration. The fight captured the imagination of boxing fans after rekindling memories of the fierce rivalry between their fathers three decades earlier. Chis Eubank Sr, who had seemingly been estranged from his son for some time, made a surprise appearance before the bout and the pair shared an emotional greeting. Eubank Sr later said his son had 'upheld the family name' after inflicting the first defeat of Benn's professional career. In a social media post, shared in an Instagram story by Saudi kingpin Turki Alalshikh, Ring Magazine said: 'The Ring has learned Sela completed the deal for the highly anticipated Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn rematch on November 15 in Tottenham Stadium. 'The event will be presented as 'The Ring: Unfinished Business'. 'The event will be promoted by Sela and sponsored by Riyadh Season and Ring Magazine.' Trump leading 2028 LA Olympics task force should keep him out of trouble

Trump signed an executive order Tuesday afternoon creating the task force, which will handle security and transportation issues for the 2028 Summer Games. Yes, there have been task forces for previous Olympics in the United States. But they were not chaired by the president, as this one is. But LA28 needs Trump not to gum up the works over the next three years. By letting him think he's in charge of ... something, Games officials could avoid headaches over athlete visas and fan safety while keeping Trump from meddling elsewhere. "We are now focused more than ever on delivery (of the Games) and we can't do this alone. I want to thank President Trump and the entire administration for their support and their partnership as we work to bring these Games home," LA28 chairman Casey Wasserman said at the signing, where he doubled down on the flattery by presenting Trump with a set of the medals from the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. It should embarrass us all that the president of the United States can be so easily played. It should embarrass LA28 that it's willing to be party to it. Yet here we are. The LA Games, the first in the United States since the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, is a multi-billion-dollar effort more than a decade in the making. Organizers are painstaking in their planning, from venues to housing to sponsors. Yet Trump could ruin it all, the proverbial fly in the punchbowl, given his overreaches on immigration and squabbles with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, both Democrats. Trump picks fights with Bass and Newsom every chance he gets, most notably when he needlessly sent the National Guard into Los Angeles. It's a certainty he'd grandstand in some similar manner during the Games if he didn't think it would make him look bad, too. Olympic athletes and their coaches are supposed to be exempt from Trump's latest travel ban, while Olympic fans are usually greeted with open arms by host countries. Yet the recent refusal to allow Cuba's women's volleyball team and Senegal's women's basketball team into the United States, along with ICE agents who target immigrants, as well as citizens and tourists, have raised concerns that Olympic athletes and fans won't have safe harbor for the Los Angeles Games. If those embarrassing visa problems and the harassment were to be pinned on Trump, however, they're less likely to occur. By creating the task force and putting Trump "in charge" of it, LA28 is letting him think he's an integral part of an event where his only real role should be that of a figurehead. It's organizers' way of making sure he has a vested interest in seeing athletes arrive without issue, fans don't wind up in Alligator Alcatraz and the Los Angeles Games go off without any humiliating sideshows. This isn't the stuff of normally functioning democracies, and no one should pretend it is. Los Angeles organizers also should not assume they've fully protected the Games from Trump's tirades and pettiness. Anyone who thinks they've won a permanent place in Trump's good graces should remember how well that worked out for Elon Musk. Sure enough, Trump was threatening to call in the National Guard and other members of the U.S. military to safeguard the Games before Tuesday's news conference was even over. Insulting Bass in the process for good measure. But with so much time and money already invested, this is also the least-worst option for LA28 and the International Olympic Committee. "We remain incredibly confident in our ability to deliver the greatest Games ever, and that starts with the support of this administration every step of the way," Wasserman said. And before anyone squawks about canceling the Games or moving them, save your breath. The IOC held two Olympics in the middle of a global pandemic and has done business with plenty of other unsavory leaders. It isn't going to be dissuaded by Donald Trump's awful policies or inept handling of global issues. The IOC and its host cities have made going along to get along an art form. Trump's task force is just more of the same, a reminder that the price tag for the Games includes more than money. Follow USA TODAY Sports columnist Nancy Armour on social media @nrarmour.
