Claudio Echeverri ‘a bit sore' as Man City wait on teenager's ankle injury

Yet the Argentinian, who only made his debut in the FA Cup final last month after arriving from River Plate in January, was forced off at half-time with a twisted ankle.

It was a disappointing end to a promising performance and one that suggested the youngster could have a role to play in Guardiola's reshaped squad in the coming season.
Guardiola said Echeverri was 'a little bit sore' and had to be replaced at the interval.
The City boss said: 'That's why he could not continue, but he's an incredible player – a big, big talent in small spaces – and I'm happy for him.'
Guardiola went on to praise Echeverri's work ethic and dedication.
He said: 'Since he arrived, in the three or four months with us, at the end of training sessions he was practising free-kicks with the goalkeeper, the wall and alone. The other ones did not practise.
'He was practising and practising and the work pays off at the end. The more you practise, the more chances you have. It was a fantastic goal.'

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega was also impressed by Echeverri's performance, comparing him to another Argentinian forward in former City player and World Cup-winner Julian Alvarez.
Ortega, who took the place of Ederson as Guardiola made 11 changes for the second Group G game, said: 'He is a good (free-kick) taker. He saw the gap in the wall and used it.
'He reminds me a bit of Julian Alvarez, same type of player, his finishing is incredible.
'He's a really good guy, a bit shy in the beginning but I think he can help us a lot.'
Another player to catch the eye in City's stroll was left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, who was handed his debut following his £31million move from Wolves earlier this month.

Guardiola said: 'Wow. He had to defend in a back four, then make it a back five and he played really, really good.
'It's not for the first time. It was his first (City) game but he has played in the Premier League for many years.
'He can help us play in that role outside but then had to play as a holding midfielder.
'He is so clever in the final third, taking the right decisions to create more spaces. I'm really pleased for the game he played.'

Eberechi Eze's stance on Tottenham transfer revealed as Spurs confident of deal

Tottenham are aiming to add to their squad ahead of next season's Champions League return and have put Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze right at the top of their shortlist Tottenham believe they can finally land Eberechi Eze this summer. Mirror Sport revealed on Sunday that Spurs are looking towards the Crystal Palace star as they try and strengthen their forward line. And they believe Eze would be keen on the switch with other clubs also interested in the player who has a £68m buy-out clause. Tottenham 's new boss Thomas Frank has prioritised a wide player in the transfer market and they have already made a £65m-plus for Bryan Mbeumo and have made enquiries for Bournemouth 's Antoine Semenyo. ‌ But England international Eze is also a long-term target and they have been getting encouraging noises about whether he would move to Spurs this summer. ‌ Newcastle and Aston Villa have also been linked with Eze while Palace are desperate to keep him after he helped them win the FA Cup and clinch a placce in Europe. Frank is desperate to strengthen his wide options with Son Heung-min potentially leaving amid strong interest from the Saudi Pro League. Tottenham remain keen on Mbeumo but face major competition from Manchester United who have made a £55m bid for the Brentford forward. Frank has a strong link with Mbeumo from Brentford and will be keen to bring him in but the forward has been keen on going to United. That deal is still a possibility for Spurs but they remain determined to strengthen. Tottenham have made enquiries on Semenyo but Bournemouth do not want to sell after losing Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid while Liverpool are closing in on left back Milos Kerkez. ‌ Bournemouth will demand around £70m for Semenyo and Spurs are now exploring options as they look to bolster their squad for the new manager and also ahead of a season back in the Champions League. But Tottenham know they could get Eze if they trigger the buy-out clause which has been widely reported - just as long as the player agrees to the switch. Liam Delap reveals Cole Palmer role in choosing Chelsea over Man Utd

Chelsea snapped up Liam Delap for £30m despite interest from Manchester United and the former Manchester City striker has revealed that a chat with Blues star Cole Palmer helped him make his decision Liam Delap has revealed he spoke with former team-mate Cole Palmer before deciding to join Chelsea for £30million. Delap joined Enzo Maresca 's men despite strong interest from Manchester United and quickly wrapped up a move from Ipswich Town in time for the Club World Cup. ‌ The forward has already made his first two appearances for the club against Los Angeles FC and Flamengo and is hoping to become Chelsea's first choice forward in the 2025-26 season. ‌ Delap has spoken about what influenced his decision to move to Stamford Bridge despite huge interest in his signature and said Palmer - who came through the ranks with him at Manchester City - was a big help in making his decision. "Yeah I spoke to him a little bit," he said, as reported by ESPN. "Asked him what I needed to ask him. He told me what I needed to know. I don't like too much information. "Ultimately it was my decision so I kind of just want my head to be clear so not too much. [I've known him] since I was 15, playing at City with him. I've got a good relationship with him so it was nice to see a familiar face. "There are so many factors that go into it. I've got a good relationship with the manager. I know how he plays. I've played in this system before. I know a lot of the players here and the project of the club, how they see the future. That's what excited me." Palmer made the move from City to Chelsea and has become one of the first names on the team-sheet. He scored 22 goals and assisted 11 in his first season before netting another 15 and assisting eight in his second campaign. ‌ Delap is hoping to emulate the midfielder by also making a fast start to life in west London, having scored 12 Premier League goals last season. "Of course, that's the goal," Delap said. "I think we both had similar positions and he's gone and smashed it so hopefully I can also. "I think he's always been that good and everyone at City will tell you that. The rate he's done it at is incredible. But I think ultimately it was always going to happen." Delap is still only 22 and will now be looking to stamp his mark on the Premier League after his first season in the top flight with the Tractor Boys ended in relegation. He previously played six senior games for City before loan moves to Stoke, Preston and Hull before joining Ipswich for £20m last summer.
