Bakery owner doubling up as drug peddler held in Lucknow
The accused, identified as Ashish Yadav (35), a resident of Marui village under Mohanlalganj police station limits, was nabbed after police received a tip-off about suspicious activities at his bakery and a team raided the shop,' assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Mohanlalganj, Rajneesh Verma said. 'When the police team reached the spot, the shop owner panicked and tried to flee, but our team caught him,' the ACP said.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), south, Nipun Aggarwal said that a tin box was recovered from the bakery, containing 1.350 kg of ganja packed in small pouches. In addition, ₹3,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was seized, he said.
Additional DCP Vasanth Kumar said initial interrogation revealed that Ashish had been selling ganja in small packets priced at ₹1,000 each. 'He confessed to running the illegal trade for quite some time, targeting local customers who visited his shop regularly. He blended this business with his bakery operations to avoid suspicion,' the ADCP said.
According to the DCP, the operation was part of a special campaign against drug peddlers. He said investigations are ongoing to identify the supply chain and other accomplices involved in the racket. Inspector, Mohanlalganj, DK Singh said: 'We are interrogating the accused to gather details about his sources and partners. More arrests are likely soon.'
The accused was booked under sections 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and sent to judicial custody.

CRPF commandos take over inner cordon of CM security after attack
New Delhi: Commandos from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will now handle the inner cordon of Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta's security. A day after she was attacked at her official residence during a Jan Sunwai, the central govt revised her security details following a threat assessment by intelligence agencies. The Union home ministry on Thursday accorded Z-category CRPF cover to Gupta. She was initially provided Z-category security cover by Delhi Police, which was later upgraded to Z+. However, after Wednesday's attack, CRPF will oversee the immediate cordon while Delhi Police personnel will guard the outer perimeter. Several other measures, including prior verification of the visitors, are going to be put in place to avoid a repeat of any such incident. At least 22 commandos from CRPF's VIP Security Group were asked to take over the security apparatus on Thursday morning, covering both mobile and static duties. The elite group guards Union home minister Amit Shah and his family and members of the Gandhi family, among other entities facing a high level of threat. The decision was taken after the threat assessment conducted by Intelligence Bureau and other agencies expressed a greater level of threat to CM Gupta, particularly during public hearings. Former CMs Atishi was accorded Z-category security while Arvind Kejriwal was given Z+ cover. Kejriwal also received additional protection with around 63 people guarding him following multiple attacks. Ludhiana: Fake dope test reports expose loopholes in arms licensing
In a development that has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the firearm licensing system, Ludhiana police have booked three individuals for submitting fake dope test reports to secure arms licences. Shockingly, one of them had already managed to obtain a licence using forged medical documents before the fraud was caught. For now, the police have seized the forged documents and initiated a probe. The accused have been identified as Hardik Khanna of Lajpat Nagar, Uday Pratap Singh Grewal of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, and Nishan Singh of Dashmesh Nagar. Separate FIRs have been lodged against them at Division Number 5 police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including cheating, forgery, and use of forged documents. In Grewal's case, Section 30 of the Arms Act has also been added, as he successfully obtained a licence with a fake report. According to assistant commissioner of police (ACP) licensing Rajesh Sharma, who filed the complaint, the fraud came to light when discrepancies were spotted in the stamps on the dope test reports. 'When we sent the reports for verification to Ludhiana civil hospital, it was confirmed that the reports, signatures, and stamps were entirely fake,' he said. Officials fear that these may not be isolated cases. 'Earlier also, similar incidents have surfaced. We are now re-examining all pending files and suspect more fake reports were submitted. Investigations are underway to trace the racket behind these forged documents,' ACP Sharma added. This is not the first time the licensing process has been compromised. On May 13, police had booked Lalit Kumar, a driver-cum-security guard from Sahnewal Kalan, and international shooter Gurnihal Singh Garcha of Model Town for using fake dope test reports. Garcha, ironically a decorated sportsperson who won medals at international championships, was also found guilty of attempting to bypass mandatory checks.

Case Registered Against YouTuber Punit Superstar For 'Derogatory Remarks' Against Mayawati
Ghaziabad: Police in Ghaziabad have registered a case against a YouTuber for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on social media, officials said on Thursday. According to police sources, BSP district president Narendra Mohit on Wednesday evening lodged an FIR against YouTuber Punit Superstar, whose real name is Prakash Kumar, at the Shalimar Garden police station. The complainant alleged that the YouTuber posted a video on Instagram containing insulting remarks about the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister. DCP Nimish Patil said the video soon went viral, allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Bahujan community. Police are probing the matter after registering a case against the accused, the officer said.
