Meghan's friend hits out: ‘Sickening and cruel'

IN LONDON
With opinion divided across the millions of people who have viewed Meghan's pregnancy dancing video, one of her friends has spoken out passionately in her defence.
Christopher Bouzy, who appeared in the Harry & Meghan Netflix docu-series, defended her against the wave of criticism she received recently after posting the throwback clip showing the couple dancing to the viral Baby Mama song in a birthing suite.
Some of the more extreme reactions from trolls also included unsubstantiated accusations that her pregnant bump may even be fake.
'Imagine, for a moment, what it would feel like to have some of the happiest and most vulnerable moments of your life turned into ammunition for hate,' Bouzy told Newsweek.
'Every maternity dress and every baby video becomes 'evidence' for strangers obsessively trying to prove your pregnancies were a sham. It is sickening and cruel.'
The social media expert, whose company has investigated the online trolling of Meghan, also pointed out that she had previously spoken about her 'suicidal thoughts at the height of the abuse'.
'One doesn't have to stretch to see a link between that despair and the ceaseless torrent of vilification she endured,' he told the publication.
'Beyond the personal toll on Meghan and Harry, there's a broader societal damage to consider. When conspiracy theories like these flourish, they corrode our collective grasp on reality and decency.'
Meghan's dancing post was part of her online tribute to her and Harry's daughter, Princess Lilibet, in honour of her fourth birthday last week.
The pair are also parents to six-year-old Prince Archie.
While her dancing video may have prompted a fair bit of mockery, it also managed to rack up thousands of likes and millions of views.
'Meghan is very pleased with the video,' a source close to Harry and Meghan told the Daily Mail this week, in the wake of the viral reaction.
'In the UK, everyone's reaction has been a bit prudish, but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it has been a huge hit.
'She and her team count [the video] as a 'win,' which can only be a boost for sales. Her new products are marketed at Americans and not at the UK market.'

Harry, Meghan's shock move set to deepen royal family rift

In yet another move that will throw fuel on the fiery feud between King Charles, Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle have hired a former TV producer from The Crown to help boost their image. The woman responsible for the publicity of the hugely popular Netflix series during seasons three through six, Emily Robinson, has ironically been parachuted in by the Sussexes to try and help turn around their disastrous public persona. Netflix had been accused of taking creative licence too far when addressing some story lines in The Crown, which reportedly enraged members of the royal family. Ms Robinson was responsible for depicting the episodes as based on actual events, even though there were large chunks of the overall series that had clearly been left to script writers and producers to use their creative licence. Prince Harry's notorious Nazi costume scandal and the most sensitive Princess Diana moments in the program were all content that Ms Robinson was employed to promote. Royal commentators have likened the decision to hire Ms Robinson with 'sticking in the knife'. The Netflix series touched on all the controversial moments for the King and his sons over the years. 'In the circumstances, it's almost beyond belief that Harry and Meghan would hire someone straight from The Crown,' the Daily Mail quoted a royal insider as saying. Prince Harry has previously spoken about The Crown and said the show had not concerned him at all. 'They don't pretend to be news. It's fiction. But it's loosely based on the truth. Of course, it's not strictly accurate,' he told James Cordern in 2021. 'I'm way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself.' When asked by Stephen Colbert on his talk show in the US in 2023 if he had watched the show and if he did any fact checking, the Prince responded 'Yes, I have actually watched The Crown'. 'Yes, I do, actually (fact check). Which, by the way, is another reason why it's so important that history has it right.' The Netflix brand is one the Sussexes are particularly aligned with after the streaming service paid them a staggering $US100 million to produce a range of programs over a five year period including a Harry & Meghan documentary series. The infamous docu-series included Prince Harry's claim that his family suffered from 'unconscious racial bias', and that they were conspiring against him and his wife. Although the decision will undoubtedly push the royal brothers further apart, Prince Harry and Meghan have pushed on and hired the former Netflix exec who has also held a number of senior publicity roles around the world. Ms Robinson has worked in various roles at the A&E Networks, Discovery/TLC, VH1, and Bravo and is expected to only increase the couple's profile and build on Meghan Markle's recent foray's into podcasting and lifestyle programming including her with her show - With Love, Meghan.

Princess Diana wanted ‘super short' dresses after divorce

The late aristocrat's favourite designer, Jacques Azagury, has shared she had to be reined in from revealing too much leg and cleavage in the wake of her split from King Charles (then Prince Charles). Jacques told Hello! Magazine's A Right Royal Podcast he and Diana's butler convinced her not to wear micro minis "when she wanted to go super short on the skirts." "Paul Burrell, her butler, and myself would say, 'That's as short as you can go,'" Jacques claimed.

Fears for Westlife star, not seen for a year, as group announce reunion without him

A beloved pop star will miss his group's 25th anniversary as fears grow for his wellbeing. The singer was last seen a year ago and will be 'unable to join the celebrations'. Westlife formed in 1998, and kicked off their first ever world tour, Where Dreams Come True Tour, at the Newcastle Arena on February 9, 2001. The Irish lads – Brian McFadden, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan – went on to release 12 studio albums and had a huge 14 number one UK hit singles. Brian left in 2004. Now to mark the special tour milestone, the remaining boyband members have launched their 25th anniversary celebrations. But Kian, Nicky, and Shane will have to celebrate without Mark. It's been a year since Mark's last interaction with fans, where he posted a video saying 'Happy pride month everybody.' In February 28, 2024, Mark announced he had to pull out of ALL shows to 'fully recover' after undergoing surgery. The star said the 'physical demands' of the concerts and extensive travel proved 'too much' for him and so he would 'temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring'. The dad-of-one opened up on his secret surgery hell, telling fans how he's gone under the knife for the fourth time since 2020 after medics found a 'very large incisional hernia'. During those four years, the singer battled pneumonia as well as sepsis – a crippling infection that can be fatal. Fellow Westlife band members Nicky, Shane and Kian broke their silence at the time to reveal they 'completely respect' dad-of-one Mark's decision. Now they have shared that Mark will be missing from the tour again as they posted a statement to Instagram Titled Westlife 25, it read: 'To our amazing fans, 'We would like to take this opportunity to share some very important news with you all. 'We are thrilled to announce the launch of our 25th Anniversary celebrations …' It continued: 'Who would have thought we would still be here 25 years later? 'We have so many exciting plans to share with you very soon which will include new music, an album, special shows and many, many more surprises along the way.' The notice then added: 'Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. 'We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able. 'He sends his love and positivity to you all as always. 'The four of us can't quite believe it's been 25 years. 'We could only have dreamt of the continued love and loyalty you have consistently with shown us around the world. 'We are so lucky to have all of you with us and we can't wait to celebrate together.' In the comments, fans were devastated with one person writing: 'Love you guys … BUT, westlife isn't westlife without Mark. 3 just don't cut it.' A second said: 'I don't know whether to cry with happiness that you're finally coming back for your 25th year anniv or sob at the fact that mark won't be joining you to celebrate it. I'm so overwhelmed …' A third penned: 'Sending a huge love to @markusmoments we really hope that he is OK! 'We love you Mark! And amazing news boys! We can't wait for all these new things come on our way! Much love!' Someone else echoed: 'What happened to Mark? 'I remember reading that he was going to have surgery, but that was about two years ago. I'll be hoping and praying for his recovery!'
