Man, 3 kids, on scooter, run over by dumper truck in Deonar
The deceased are Noor Gulam Nabi Shaikh, 28, a resident of Millat Nagar at Saki Naka, and his nephews – Ayan Qasim Mustaffa Khan, 11, Mohammad Hussain Gulam Ahmed Khan, 13, and Abdul Gani Gulam Ahmed Khan, 11.
Police said the four were proceeding on the scooter towards Deonar on Shaikh's scooter when the accident took place. They were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar and Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi, where they were declared dead. The four were on their way to the Deonar abattoir to buy a goat. The dumper was carrying construction debris.
'We have arrested the dumper driver and will be booking him under section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for causing death by negligence,' said a police officer from Deonar police station.
After the accident, locals gathered at the accident site and shouted slogans against the government, demanding that heavy vehicles ply on flyovers and not on the road under the bridge. Police detained the protestors, who blocked the traffic for around an hour.

In a separate incident Ajay Gupta, 28, a resident of Behram Bagh, Jogeshwari, died after a dumper collided with the scooter he was riding on the Western Express Highway, in the south-bound lane.
Police said Gupta, who worked as a salesperson, also helped in the family business, selling onions and potatoes. He was transporting onions and potatoes from Mira Road on his scooter when a dumper pulled up behind him, on the highway in Malad East, and rammed his scooter. Gupta died at the accident site.
'We have the dumper but the driver has fled. We will soon identify him,' said a police officer with the Kurar police station.

A video clip, in which Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is seen speaking about stray dogs, allegedly led Rajkot resident Rajesh Khimji Sakriya to attack her during a 'Jan Sunwai' programme at her camp office in Delhi's Civil Lines on Wednesday morning, police said. After questioning him and scrutinising his cellphone details, police said a probe has also revealed that he offered prayers at Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain before coming to Delhi on Tuesday. 'During questioning, Sakriya claimed that he is a Shiv devotee and a dog lover. During Covid-19 pandemic, he bought a Shivling from Ujjain and installed it in his house in Rajkot. He claimed that on August 15, while pouring water on the Shivling, he felt like visiting temples in Ujjain. The next day, he left for Ujjain and offered prayers at Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple on Sunday. He also visited the Kal Bhairav Mandir in Ujjain,' a senior officer said. Sakriya, an autorickshaw driver and a Class 7 dropout, has been booked in several cases in Rajkot, said police, adding that he was also allegedly involved in gambling and bootlegging. 'Sakriya claimed that he saw a video clip on social media where Gupta was talking about street dogs and decided to attack her. After boarding a train on Monday, he came to Delhi on Tuesday. He boarded an e-rickshaw and reached near the Hanuman temple in Karol Bagh. He had come to know from social media that some dog lovers would gather there,' the officer said. From there, he allegedly reached the Hanuman temple and saw a poster with Gupta's face on it. 'He asked passersby where she resided and then reached the CM's residence at Shalimar Bagh where he clicked photographs from outside,' the officer said. He even allegedly approached the security personnel deployed outside the residence and expressed his desire to meet Gupta. It was then that came to know that the CM would host a Jan Sunwai at her camp office. 'They also gave him an acknowledgment slip when he registered for the Jan Sunwai,' the officer said. From Shalimar Bagh, Sakriya allegedly reached Kashmere Gate where he got a quick haircut and shave. 'When he asked the hairdresser if there was a night shelter where he could stay, he was informed about Shree Delhi Gujarati Samaj in Civil lines,' the officer said. Sakriya allegedly reached the Shree Delhi Gujarati Samaj, which offers boarding facilities, and booked a room. 'He then called his wife and asked her to wake him up at 6 am since he did not know how to set an alarm on the smartphone. His wife woke him up on Wednesday morning and then he reached the Jan Sunwai on foot,' the officer said. According to the statements of eyewitnesses and security personnel, Sakriya was the fifth person to meet the CM at the camp office. 'The CM, instead of sitting behind the table, sat ahead of it, in close proximity to the visitors. It was then that the accused attacked her. The security personnel intervened but Sakriya grabbed her by the hair and both fell on the ground. The personnel then used force to pull him away,' the officer said, adding that he was beaten up by the people present there.

Ghaziabad: A 23-year-old hearing and speech impaired woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified suspect late Monday night in Loni after she stepped out of her house, the police said on Wednesday, adding she is also undergoing treatment at Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), Delhi. Police said the victim woman is not able to speak or hear properly, and she was not able to convey the sequence so an expert has been requested to speak to her. (Representational image) Police registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 64(2)(k) for rape of a woman suffering from mental illness or physical disability at Loni police station on Tuesday following her family's complaint. 'My daughter is unable to fully speak and listen. She is also undergoing treatment at IHBAS, Delhi, as she also has mental weakness. She stepped out of our house around 7pm on August 18 and was found near Nithora village around 10pm. She told us some unidentified person raped her near a tubewell at Nithora village,' the woman's father stated in the FIR. Police denied social media posts suggesting she was gangraped. 'The woman is not able to speak or hear properly. She was not able to convey the sequence. We have now requested an expert to speak to her,' said ACP (Loni circle) Siddharth Gautam. 'So far, we have come to know that she came home walking on her own, and midway she also tried to call up her family from a phone of a passerby. But the sequence of events is unclear. An investigation is on,' the ACP added.

Mob attacks 2 students, torch their scooter over ‘spy drones' rumour in Faridabad
A group of armed suspects assaulted two students and torched their scooter on suspicion of spying with drones, a rumour that later turned out to be false, Faridabad police said on Wednesday. (Getty Images/iStockphoto) Investigators said one prime suspect, identified as Bittu Khatana, 41, a resident of Faridpur, was arrested for his alleged role in the violence on Tuesday, while at least 14 others remain absconding. The victims, Ayush, a third-year engineering student, and his friend Avi Kumar, a first-year BBA student, suffered bruises and cuts in the assault. Police said the attack took place between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday inside Triveni Society in Sector 78, where the duo had gone for a shoot. Inspector Arvind Kumar, station house officer of BPTP police station, said the students were working on a college project based on artificial intelligence. 'For that, they were clicking photos inside one of the abandoned buildings of the society. It was the flashes of the cameras that attracted the attention of Khatana and a few of his associates from a distance. They spread a rumour in their village that drones were being flown in their area for spying,' he said. The SHO said Khatana then gathered men from his village, armed with sticks and batons, and confronted the students. 'They assaulted the two students… The suspects also torched the scooter and their equipment,' he added. Police said someone alerted the control room, following which an emergency response vehicle reached the spot. Three policemen tried to shield the victims when the mob attacked them, injuring a constable. Some officers managed to record a video of the incident and overpowered Khatana before calling reinforcements. Both students and the injured constable were taken to a government hospital for treatment. Based on Ayush's complaint, an FIR was lodged at BPTP police station on Tuesday against at least 15 suspects for assault, rioting, deterring a public servant from duty, and other provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said the remaining suspects will be arrested soon.
