DMC and Tinsukia NFR partner to better waste management at 12 Dibrugarh rail colonies
1 2 3 4 Dibrugarh: In a significant step toward improving urban cleanliness, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) and the Tinsukia division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) signed an MoU on Tuesday for door-to-door municipal solid waste (MSW) collection from 12 railway colonies across the city. The agreement, signed in the presence of DMC commissioner Jay Vikas and executive officer Novas Das, is expected to enhance sanitation and public hygiene, with services set to begin by mid-Aug. Under the initiative, DMC will oversee daily waste collection, transportation, and disposal for 1,488 authorised railway households and 1,027 unauthorised households spread across the 12 railway colonies in Dibrugarh. The colonies covered under the scheme include the Divisional Railway Hospital premises at Naliapool, Barbari Railway Colony, Naliapool Railway Colony, Kadamoni Railway Colony, Chowkidingee Railway Colony, Dibru Railway Colony, Mansarovar Railway Colony, Chiringaon Railway Colony, Kalibari Railway Colony, Gabharupathar Railway Colony, Bansbari Railway Colony, and Banipur Railway Colony. "This collaboration marks a crucial milestone in Dibrugarh's journey toward sustainable waste management. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giá vàng đang tăng mạnh trong năm 2025 — Các nhà giao dịch thông minh đã tham gia IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo By extending our services to railway colonies, we aim to create a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents," Vikas said. The Railway administration will contribute Rs 200 per authorised household per month for the service. Additionally, railway authorities will play an active role in promoting waste segregation and ensuring adherence to cleanliness norms among residents. The DMC will also provide desilting services for railway drains upon written request at approved rates. The MoU will remain valid for two years and includes provisions for regular monitoring, billing, and grievance redressal. However, the agreement explicitly excludes hazardous and biomedical waste from the DMC's responsibilities. DMC has assured that waste collection vehicles will follow a fixed schedule to ensure timely disposal. The civic body will also conduct awareness campaigns to educate residents on the importance of segregating dry and wet waste. With the MoU now in place, both the DMC and the Tinsukia railway division are optimistic about the project's success. "This is a win-win situation for both parties. While the railways get a systematic waste management system, the DMC can expand its services to more areas, contributing to a greener Dibrugarh," Vikas added. Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope for better waste management in their neighbourhoods. "For years, waste disposal has been a challenge in railway colonies. This initiative will not only keep our surroundings clean but also raise awareness about proper waste segregation," Dibrugarh resident Parag Dutta said.

Take permanent licence to serve liquor, excise department to tell restaurants
Noida: Excise officials in Noida and Ghaziabad have been directed to encourage restaurants and venues using occasional bar licences to shift to permanent licences. Noida issues around 400-500 occasional bar licences every month, while Ghaziabad sees 200-300 of these in the same duration. At a review meeting on Monday, chaired by UP excise commissioner Adarsh Singh at Shakti Sadan Guest House in Noida, officials were directed to encourage eatery owners to make this shift for better revenue collection. "These FL-11 category licences are typically availed by restaurants that do not have the required NOCs from other departments like the local authority or the fire department and hence do not have a permanent bar licence, but want to serve liquor to customers on specific days. Under the new UP excise policy, each occasional licence now costs Rs 33,000 for restaurants and can be issued only for a period of three consecutive days," said GB Nagar district excise officer Subodh Kumar. Others in attendance at the meeting include the joint excise commissioner of Meerut zone, deputy excise commissioner of Meerut division, district excise officers from GB Nagar and Ghaziabad, assistant excise commissioners posted at distilleries and breweries in Ghaziabad, and excise inspectors from both districts. The commissioner also ordered strict checking of farmhouses located along the Haryana border and directed officials to intensify operations to curb the inflow of illegal liquor from neighbouring states. Officers were told to remain vigilant in border areas and take prompt action against violations. To meet revenue targets, the Commissioner directed officials to maximise liquor supply indents through wholesale licences and district bonds. Enforcement activities are also to be strengthened. Later in the day, the excise commissioner and the GB Nagar district excise officer inspected two new licenced establishments in Sector 43 – the LAB (Low Alcoholic Beverage) Premium Retail Liquor Boulevard (FL-4D) and the MISS NORA restaurant bar (FL-7(1)) in Rcube Monad Mall. Cong to launch devpt projects in Mys on July 19
Mysuru: Nearly two years after launching the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, the country's largest money transfer scheme in the city, Congress is gearing up for another massive convention in Mysuru. The party is hosting Sadhana Samavesha and launching various developmental schemes on July 19, where development projects worth over Rs 2,900 crore will be launched. Even though Congress functionaries made it clear that it is an official event and not a show of strength, it is widely perceived that Congress is using the occasion to strengthen its organisation ahead of upcoming TP, ZP, and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) elections. As per the plan, the event will be held in the Maharaja's College Grounds in the heart of the city, where CM Siddaramaiah, DCM DK Shivakumar, and others will lay the foundation stone for various developmental work. A majority of the cabinet ministers of the Siddaramaiah govt will attend the event. Congress sources said AICC leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC Karnataka incharge Randeep Surjewala, will be invited for the event. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo District minister HC Mahadevappa held a review meeting of the preparations for this event last week, where he directed the officials to ensure everything from food to toilet facilities for the public. "It is not a show of strength of the party," said party district unit president BJ Vijayakumar. "Around 1 lakh public will attend the event," he said. He denied any political objectives behind the convention. Meanwhile, BJP functionaries asked the CM and his cabinet colleagues to visit Mysuru city before boasting about their achievements. "17 scams in 24 months is the achievement of this govt. CM Siddaramaiah is holding all his major events in Mysuru to send a message to the party high command," Mohan said.
