NIOS plans to launch AI chat bots, mentor-mentee app to help students

New Delhi: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is planning to launch Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbots in languages and a mentor-mentee based app to help students by 2027, open board chairperson Pankaj Arora said on Wednesday.
'Open schooling in future integrates its functioning with AI...We are developing AI-driver learner resource centre to provide virtual mentors to every student. It will be very useful for students coming from remote areas and marginalised background,' said Arora while addressing the event on the first day of the two-days academic consultation meet on 'education without walls in line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020,'
He said that NIOS is planning to bring chatbots in different languages to help students get resolutions of their queries in their own languages, not necessarily in Hindi and English.
'We are also planning to introduce a mentor-mentee model-based app for our students. We want to bring virtual mentors for students from whom they can discuss their course materials and other questions. We are aiming to launch both by 2027, but we are hoping that we will bring both of them very early,' he told HT.

Amir-ud-Daula Library to house museum on Munshi Naval Kishore

Lucknow: The historic Amir-ud-Daula Library in Kaiserbagh will soon house a museum dedicated to Munshi Naval Kishore-- one of India's most iconic publishers. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 2 crore, was presented to Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) chairperson and divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob on Thursday. The museum will showcase vintage items, including rare printing machines, original records, period garments and sculptures. It will also feature interactive display units and soundscaping for an immersive visitor experience. A section of the library will be transformed to house the museum, honouring Naval Kishore, who established a printing press in 1858 and published over 5,000 titles across multiple languages, including Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Bengali, Sanskrit and English. Jacob directed officials to give the museum a heritage look. "It should reflect the city's rich legacy and connect people emotionally with its cultural and literary history," she said. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said: "This initiative will not only preserve the literary and printing heritage of Naval Kishore but also give Lucknow a new cultural landmark. It will inspire generations about the power of the written word and India's publishing history." As part of the project, the library will also be upgraded to international standards. Enhancements at the entry point and installation of sculptures will be undertaken to boost public engagement and footfall. The presentation was attended by LDA secretary Vivek Srivastava, chief engineer Navneet Sharma and a team of architects and officials. Leroy Sane Officially Unveiled As Galatasaray Player; Walks Out Of Bayern For Free

Last Updated: Sane's move comes as part of a reportedly concerted effort by the Turkish champions to entice star striker Victor Osimhen to consider staying at Galatasaray. The deal is done. In yet another whirlwind move, Galatasaray acquired the services of Leroy Sane, from Bayern Munich, on a free transfer on Thursday, officially announcing him to the masses. Sane, capped 70 times for Germany, has bagged 61 goals and registered 55 assists in 220 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, and walked away from the Alliannz after denying a contract extension. 📌 Official communication from Galatasaray SK:An agreement has been reached with the football player Leroy Aziz Sané for a period of three seasons, starting from July 1, 2025. 'According to the agreement, the player will be paid a net guaranteed salary of €9.000.000 per season, along with a net loyalty bonus of €3.000.000 per season." Sane, on the other hand, joined Bayern in 2020, signing a five-year deal from English side Manchester City, where he won the Premier League title in 2018 and 2019. With the Bavarians, the German winger went on to win the Bundesliga four times, including the most recent campaign, as well as two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup. Osimhen was key to Galatasaray winning the domestic Double, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions. It was a campaign that showed he's definitely not lost his scoring touch, but his game goes well beyond goals. Osimhen, who is on loan from Napoli, has his release fee reduced to £65 million from £100 million after his move to Galatasaray. Given his success during the 2024/25 season, it is no surprise that the Turkish champions want him back permanently, but that could now be a difficult deal to commit to financially, even with claims being made that they are hopeful it will actually help their chances of him joining.
