Varun recently appeared on a YouTube podcast hosted by Nayandeep Rakshit, where he strongly disagreed with the idea that the success of Saiyaara proves that stars aren't necessary for a hit. He also noted that Jawan would have been a flop if Ahaan Panday had been in the lead instead of Shah Rukh.
Varun said, 'People are saying that this film has proven that we don't need stars anymore. That's not true. Abhi tum Ahaan Panday ko utha ke Jawan mein daalo, Jawan flop ho jayegi. Shah Rukh ko Saiyaara mein daal do, Saiyaara flop ho jayegi (Try putting Ahaan Panday in Jawan, Jawan will flop. Put Shah Rukh in Saiyaara, and Saiyaara will flop). Shah Rukh will suddenly become too big for the film, and Ahaan will not have the personality to run Jawan.'
During the conversation, he was also asked about how he thinks Ahaan's career will shape up. Varun refused to respond, mentioning that it would depend on his choices.
He also spoke about the whole chatter around nepotism and the rise of content-driven cinema. Varun feels dismissing the role of stars entirely oversimplifies the equation, mentioning, 'It's about matching the right talent to the right story.'.

Operation Sindoor needs to be relived, and two months later, a curated version is being transmitted through a quiz show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Naval Officer Prerna Deosthalee entered the hallowed halls of Kaun Banega Crorepati to a sped-up version of Vande Bharatram . They struck poses—an appropriate blend of solemnity and showmanship. Throughout the episode, they were accompanied by a soundtrack that appeared to be giving instructions to the viewer, telling them how to feel. The episode itself was ultimately a meticulously choreographed ode to Operation Sindoor and the armed forces. No words were minced—phrases like 'enemy', 'new India', and 'terrorist' were distributed in ample supply—and so was the drama. The viewer was witness to a spectacle in which the serious and the unserious blurred together, one indecipherable from the other. It wasn't dissimilar from our television channels during the operation—when news was entertainment and part of a performance. Bachchan played the role of an awestruck citizen, asking the trio questions about how the mission was pulled off. He reiterated the importance of their positions as female officers. 'Beauty was turned into fear. Tourism in Pahalgam was at its peak,' said Colonel Qureshi. '[Operation Sindoor] wasn't retaliation, but an answer. This is new India. Terrorism will not be tolerated.' She also listed the terrorist attacks committed by Pakistan: 2001, 2008, 2016, and 2019. The episode was punctuated by footage from the strikes, provided by ANI. It was explicitly mentioned by Commander Singh that India is a 'peace-loving nation' and only the LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad strongholds of Bahawalpur and Muridke were hit. At one point in the episode, Commander Deosthalee, who is the first Indian woman to command a naval warship, compared the three of them to a trishul (trident): such was their synergy. There was also a seamless pivot from answering a question about Julius Petri, the inventor of the petridish—Singh was quick to answer because her father was a science teacher—to the Kashmiri Muslims who helped the tourists down the valley following the terror attack. A video of the officers' testimonies was shown, as well as of those who witnessed the Poonch shelling. 'The firing was one from 1 to 6. Our Indian Army gave an answer. If 10 rounds of firing were coming our way, we were sending 20,' said one witness. 'We are so proud of our Army.' While Qureshi, Singh, and Deosthalee were all playing to support various charity organisations adjacent to the armed forces, the quiz itself was a supporting character—an appendage to the glory of Operation Sindoor. Bachchan also asked them about their trajectories. Qureshi comes from an Army family where she was lulled to sleep not by 'lullabies but by songs of bravery'. Throughout the episode, there was an unspoken aspiration being presented: to join the armed forces. Toward the end, Bachchan asked members of the trio's family to share their experiences. 'I came home from school, and while I was surprised to see my mother on TV, I trusted her,' said Singh's daughter. Coolie Box Office Collections: Rajnikanth starrer holds superbly on Friday, Biggest ever day 2 in Tamil Nadu
Coolie held strongly on its second day at the Indian box office, raking in Rs. 63.50 crore approx. The two-day running total stands at Rs. 139 crore approx. There was a big holiday for Independence Day, which helped the hold. Today, there is another holiday, and that will keep the collections elevated. The film is expected to gross Rs. 230 crore or so over its four-day extended weekend in India. The home state, Tamil Nadu, posted a superb Rs. 25.50 crore approx yesterday, marking the biggest second-day number ever for any film. The two-day total in the state stands at Rs. 53.50 crore approx, putting it on track to Rs. 95-100 crore extended weekend, significantly higher than the previous best four-day sum in the state for a Rajnikanth starrer, Jailer (Rs. 77 crore). The Telugu states saw a very strong hold as well, with collections eclipsing ahead of War 2, which featured a big Telugu superstar, NTR Jr. Normally one would expect steep drop in the region but given it was a holiday and the film suffered from the clash on its first day, hitting capacity in most of the state, meant there was a strong spillover to the following day. Karnataka also held well, though Kerala dropped a bit steeply for the big holiday. The Hindi dubbed version of the film saw an uptick in collections, but it could have easily doubled on the big holiday that Independence Day is. In all, the film is going to put very big numbers over its extended weekend despite having mixed reports, thanks to the big start and holiday support.
