Suspended DEO now faces departmental inquiry
Indore: A day after
Indore district education officer
(DEO) was suspended for being
absent from public hearings
without prior intimation, district administration on Wednesday launched a
departmental inquiry
against her.
The probe, which has been assigned to Zila Panchayat CEO Siddhartha Jain will be carried out on charges including not discharging the duties assigned to the officer, remaining absent from meetings and public hearings without prior intimation, and allegedly failing to address
public grievances
. The DEO will be issued the chargesheet and asked to file reply.
Following Collector Asheesh Singh's proposal, divisional commissioner Deepak Singh suspended the DEO Vaishya on Tuesday. Indore Zila Panchayat has assigned additional charge of DEO to SDM Vijay Mandloi.
This is the third official to be removed from the DEO post for in less than a year. Earlier, the then DEO Manglesh Vyas was suspended after a departmental inquiry into a case of financial fraud, while Pooja Saxena was replaced by Vaishya after a court order. Now, an SDM has been given the charge of the Indore school education department on a temporary basis.

Paraguay president's X account likely hacked in Bitcoin scheme

2 Charred To Death As E-Rick Being Charged Catches Fire
New Delhi: Two men, including a 55-year-old, died after a fire broke out when an e-rickshaw was being recharged in east Delhi's Dilshad Garden late on Sunday night. The deceased were identified as Shashi and Ballu. Police received information about the fire in Tahirpur Kodi Colony around 11.39pm on Sunday. The cops described the building where the incident took place as a ground floor and three upper floors built on an approximately 25 sq yard plot. "The fire had broken out on the ground floor of the house. Head constable Rajkumar acted promptly and evacuated a woman named Meera Devi," a police officer said. After the fire service extinguished the flames, the bodies of Shashi, 25, an e-rickshaw driver, and Ballu, 55, a vagabond who occasionally drove e-rickshaws, were discovered. They were sent to the hospital to ascertain the cause of death. Two e-rickshaws were also found scorched. Police said that the charging point was illegal. "Inquiries revealed that e-rickshaws were being recharged on the ground floor of the house. The fire was caused by a short circuit," the officer revealed. Shashi lived in the house with his parents and three brothers. Anurag, Shashi's brother, claimed the fire was triggered by a short circuit in the electrical board. He said the malfunction caused the inverter to catch fire, which quickly spread and burnt a motorcycle parked nearby. "My brother worked as a bus conductor, but more recently, he had started earning a living by driving an e-rickshaw," said Anurag. He added, "Ballu, who had no permanent residence, occasionally accompanied my brother on rides in the e-rickshaw. At night, Ballu usually slept on the ground floor with Shashi. At the time of the fire too, they were together." Anurag explained that after the flames started spreading, the tenants present in the building managed to escape safely. His elderly mother was also evacuated from the premises in time. "We used to charge both our e-rickshaws outside the house because there wasn't enough space inside," he said.

Packers and movers transported ganja from Odisha to Nagpur in bank manager's household goods
Nagpur: The ongoing investigation into the seizure of 108kg marijuana, or ganja, worth Rs27 lakh last week led to a shocking revelation. A packers-and-movers transporter, Avinash Dhoke (34), had brought the narcotics consignment concealed in the household goods of an innocent bank manager, who had been transferred from Odisha to Nagpur. The narcotics consignment, intercepted by Kalamna police after a dramatic chase on June 3, has hit the bank manager's shifting plan, as his household goods have been impounded as evidence. However, the cops have promised to legally sort out the issue as far as possible. The case resurfaced on Saturday after a Kalamna police team, led by senior inspector Praveen Kale under Zonal DCP Niketan Kadam, travelled almost 700km from Nagpur to a remote Odisha village to nab the key supplier, Bulbul Pradhan, alias 'WhatsApp Bhai', after waiting in a trap for more than 24 hours. Pradhan belongs to a family of notorious drug mafia. His elder brother is part of an interstate racket with a nationwide network. Kale said that Dhoke managed to dodge numerous checkpoints, nakabandis, toll nakas, RTO check posts, and highway police by furnishing the receipt of the payment made by the innocent bank manager for shifting his belongings from the Odisha-West Bengal border to an interior village of Odisha, and then to Nagpur in Maharashtra via Raipur in Chhattisgarh. "It is a shocking modus operandi that packers and movers are transporting narcotics with the belongings of their innocent clients. The Kalamna police team, led by sub-inspector Santosh Kumar Ramlod, could identify, chase, and intercept the vehicle because we had specific input and did not stop even after seeing household belongings in it. We offloaded every luggage to search the vehicle before managing to lay our hands on it," said Kale. Sources from Kalamna police said Dhoke was working for Wankhede for quite some time but has refused to reveal further details during interrogation. The cops are now engaged in gathering technical and electronic evidence for further backward and forward linkages.
