McDonald's is launching a new Happy Meal collaboration with the K-pop group BTS.
The restaurant chain posted an image of a Happy Meal box and seven tiny figurines on social media on Monday that appeared to show the TinyTAN animated characters based on the famous seven-member boy band.
In a press release which followed on Tuesday, McDonald's said: "You asked and we delivered. This September, McDonald's is teaming up with TinyTAN to launch the TinyTAN Happy Meal®. On September 3, this group of lovable characters inspired by the seven members of BTS are heading to the Golden Arches with magical moments like never before!"
Why It Matters
Celebrity tie-ins have driven major spikes in McDonald's sales and cultural visibility in recent years.
McDonald's and BTS previously partnered in 2021 on the globally released BTS Meal, which combined a 10-piece McNuggets order with two special sauces and co-branded merchandise. At the time, Morgan Flatley, then-chief marketing and digital customer experience officer at McDonald's USA, praised the "passion and anticipation from our fans worldwide" around the project.
What To Know
McDonald's posted an aerial image on Instagram of a Happy Meal box with seven miniature figures. The caption read, "i feel like i personally manifested this, wbu??"
In response to one user who posted, "BTS?" the McDonald's account said, "something a little tinier to ur happy meal."
McDonald's then confirmed the new meal a day later, saying, "For the first time ever, you'll be treated to double the fun with two different sets of toys in your TinyTAN Happy Meal: The Throwback Edition featuring each character rocking the 2021 BTS Meal promo outfits and the Encore Edition featuring each character sporting outfits that nod to the second legendary collab with McDonald's, available Sept. 23."
TheStreet reported the TinyTAN Happy Meal would include a choice of hamburger or Chicken McNuggets, fries or apple slices, a drink and one of seven collectible TinyTAN toys, naming each BTS member represented.

Who Is BTS?
BTS is a South Korean boy band formed in 2013. The seven members are RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They gained global fame with hits like "Dynamite," "Boy With Luv," and "Butter." BTS has broken records with over 40 million album sales in South Korea, billions of streams worldwide, and multiple Billboard Hot 100 number ones.
They were the first K-pop group to be nominated for a Grammy Award and have a massive global fan base, ARMY.
The Context
BTS is one of the most popular musical acts in the world. Summer 2025 has seen Korean pop reach a greater audience through Netflix's hugely successful K-pop Demon Hunters film, which has broken animation records for the streaming service and hit the top spot of Billboard 100.
McDonald's Japan recently paused a high-demand Pokémon card Happy Meal campaign due to crowds and food wastage, highlighting the popularity of such tie-ins.
The prospect of another BTS-linked promotion arrives as McDonald's in the U.S. pursued operational upgrades intended to shorten wait times and support surges in demand, including a "Ready on Arrival" system the company said could cut pickup waits by more than half.
What Happens Next
Fans can look forward to the meal's release on September 3, but that's not all.
McDonald's has also announced a Magic Meetup in Los Angeles, where you can step into the rhythm of TinyTAN with an immersive, multisensory experience, filled with music and Happy Meal magic. It takes place at nya West, from September 27 to 28.
Fans can also visit the Happy Meal website to play a TinyTAN Power Up game and sing along to their favorite tunes.

23 Bizarre Facts That Sound Fake But Are Actually True
Until 2015 in the UK, the coloring in red skittles contained carmine, which derives from the crushed abdomen of female beetles. There's an 80% chance your toothbrush has fecal matter on it. Even if it's stored in a closed container. Even toothbrushes stored outside the bathroom may be contaminated with fecal matter. Winnie the Pooh was banned from a Polish playground because he doesn't wear pants. The casting team for the Harry Potter movies was strongly against non-British actors being a part of the film, which meant that Robin Williams was turned down for Hagrid. Liam Aiken was the only American actor who even got the chance to audition for Harry Potter. Aside from that one exception, the casting team insisted on hiring only British actors. Because of that rule, Robin Williams reached out to director Chris Columbus about playing Hagrid but was politely turned down. As casting director Janet Hirshenson later explained, once Columbus said no to Robin, there was no way he was going to make an exception for anyone else. Cows have accents, and it goes way beyond moo! UK dairy farmers observed that cows seemed to moo with slight variations depending on the region. Curious about this, researchers from the University of London conducted a study and confirmed it — cows really do have regional differences in their moos. Believe it or not, the largest tire manufacturer in the world In 2011, Guinness World Records named Lego the biggest tire manufacturer in the world. That year, the company produced 381 million tiny tires — far more than Bridgestone's 190 million, Michelin's 184 million, or Goodyear's 181 million. Sure, Lego tires are much easier to make since they're miniature and don't require everything an actual motor vehicle tire needs, but the numbers are still surprising! Roses are among the oldest plants on Earth, with fossils dating back 35 million years. The oldest living rose, which grows on a wall at Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany, is over 1,000 years old — and amazingly, it even survived a World War II bombing. On August 9, 1996, production on Titanic took an unexpected and alarming turn when almost 80 cast and crew members were sent to the hospital after eating clam chowder on set. At first, the incident was thought to be a case of food poisoning, but a Nova Scotia newspaper later reported that the chowder had been deliberately spiked with PCP. Among those affected were actor Bill Paxton and director James Cameron. It's wild to think about, but none of us have ever actually seen our own faces — only reflections and images. Every time we look in a mirror or scroll past a photo, we're only catching a filtered representation. The world sees us directly, but we only know ourselves through glass and pixels. Stop signs used to be yellow. Before the 1920s, stop signs didn't follow any uniform rules — they came in all different shapes and colors. In 1922, the American Association of State Highway Officials decided that stop signs should be yellow and octagon-shaped. At the time, they didn't choose red because red paint tended to fade quickly and appeared too dark at night. It wasn't until the 1950s, after more durable red paint was developed, that the now-familiar red stop sign became the standard. There's actually a gender-neutral word for "niece" or "nephew" — It's "nibling." If you're brother or sister is becoming a parent but they don't know the sex yet, you could easily say, "I have a nibling on the way!" "Paul Winchell, who voiced Tigger in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, invented an artificial heart." Technically, strawberries and raspberries aren't berries, but bananas and avocados are. Strawberries aren't considered true berries because they don't develop from a single ovary — instead, each tiny seed on the outside comes from its own ovary. Bananas, on the other hand, grow from a single ovary and meet the botanical definition of a berry, which is why they count as one. Before people became obsessed with painting fake freckles on their faces, people wore fake moles made of things like silk, velvet, and even mouse skin as a fashion statement. While stars like Marilyn Monroe, Eva Mendes, and Cindy Crawford popularized beauty marks, people wore facial patches for a variety of reasons. Some covered scars or blemishes, others made political statements, and some even used them to express their personality or relationship status. These patches came in all sorts of shapes — circles, hearts, stars, and moons. The trend saw a short revival in the 1940s before disappearing again. The dot over the lowercase letters 'i' and 'j' actually has a name. It's called a tittle. It appears to be a blend of the words "tiny" and "little"...now how adorable is that?! Lastly, Rapper Pusha T and Justin Timberlake wrote the "I'm Lovin' It" jingle for McDonald's. Unfortunately, they were only paid a one-time fee, and they don't own any publishing rights. Pusha T mentioned in a podcast that he received a $500,000 upfront payment for a jingle — a hefty sum, but he doesn't hold any publishing rights to it. Since the jingle has been used for years, he likely could have made much more if he had. On the other hand, he also created the jingle for Arby's 'We Have the Meats' slogan, and he owns 40% of the publishing rights for that one. Do you have a cool fact to share? Babymetal Reaches New Career Highs On Multiple Billboard Charts
For more than a decade now, Babymetal has been pushing its own signature sound to the world, and while it was a creative risk at first, clearly millions of people all around the planet are paying attention. The Japanese band pioneered a style known as kawaii metal, which blends the instrumentation typically associated with metal groups with the style and songwriting consistent with J-pop. It's an odd combination, but this week, Babymetal's new album helps the group not only score a new win in America, but also reach some very important and historic highs. Babymetal Hits New Career Highs Babymetal's brand new full-length Metal Forth opens inside the top 10 on seven different Billboard charts. On two of those rankings, the group reaches a never-before-seen high point. Metal Forth opens in the runner-up spot on the Vinyl Albums chart. Babymetal loses out on its first champion to Lost Americana by MGK. Metal Forth is Babymetal's first top 10 win on the format-specific ranking, and second appearance overall. Back in 2019, Metal Galaxy spent a single turn at No. 23. Babymetal's First Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Babymetal cracks the top 10 on the Billboard 200 for the first time as well, as Metal Forth enters that competitive roster at No. 9. The troupe came close to the highest tier on the most important albums ranking in the country with Metal Galaxy, which stalled at No. 13 several years back. Curiously, Babymetal's 2023 effort The Other One completely missed the Billboard 200, even though every other full-length from the group had made it to the roster. A Top Two Start on Almost Every Billboard Chart Metal Forth begins its time on the Billboard 200 with 36,000 equivalent units, according to Luminate. 33,500 of those were actual purchases, and Babymetal nearly dominates the Top Album Sales chart, coming in second place on another list. While Metal Forth makes history for Babymetal on the Billboard 200, its No. 9 starting point is the lowest of all the rosters on which it debuts. Metal Forth opens inside the top two on every other ranking, as it's a strong seller, and Billboard classified it under several different genres, which helps it become one of the most exciting new releases on the tallies at the moment.

BTS Happy Meals launch at McDonald's this September
McDonald's wants fans of K-pop group BTS to play with their food again — or at least what comes with it. In September, the company is rolling out a Happy Meal collaboration with the group featuring TinyTAN, the seven animated alter-egos of BTS' members. McDonald's will stagger the release in two waves (and two different sets of toys) — a 'Throwback Edition' starting Sept. 3 and an 'Encore Edition' later in the month on Sept. 23 — to keep fans coming back for more. Each meal includes one of seven figurines, paired with themed packaging and a character card, nudging fans toward repeat visits if they want the full set. And beyond the toys, the chain is layering other ways to stoke the fandom: a 'Magic Meetup' in Los Angeles on Sept. 27–28 will offer a mash-up of music, gaming, and Happy Meal nostalgia, while the packaging doubles as a portal to 'TinyTAN Power Up,' a mobile game that lets fans tap along to their favorite tracks. One fan wrote in the BTS group on Reddit, 'I feel like I personally manifested this, wbu??' Another added, 'As a former fast food worker my thoughts are with the employees having to deal with people trying to collect all the figures.' 'This might sell out in like 2 days,' someone else said. The campaign revives a playbook from 2021, when the BTS Meal — a 10-piece McNuggets combo with limited-edition sauces — turned into a global spectacle, driving U.S. comparable sales up 25.9% and global comps up 40.5%. The collaboration drove daily McNuggets sales up 250% and generated more than 11.5 million social mentions. In just its first month, the BTS Meal added an estimated $98 million in incremental sales , moved 1.2 million units in South Korea alone, and transformed paper packaging into collectibles fetching absurd prices on eBay. As fast-food chains remain locked in a perpetual fight for cultural relevance, collaborations have become the blunt instrument of choice — from Grimace's viral purple shake to celebrity meals with Travis Scott and Saweetie. But BTS is different: They're a global franchise unto themselves. What McDonald's is selling with this Happy Meal isn't just TinyTAN — it's the chance to get the group's fans, ARMY, to open another box tomorrow, and the day after that, until the set is complete. For now, ARMY gets another encore and McDonald's gets another headline. In pop culture as in fast food, second acts are rarely easy, but when they come in a Happy Meal box, it's hard not to bite.
