Disney+ fans all make same demand as 'fantastic' nostalgic horror series cancelled
Disney+ subscribers have all had a similar reaction as the nostalgic young adult horror series Goosebumps has been cancelled.
The series ran for just two seasons, both telling different stories with a new batch of stars inspired by the iconic spooky novels by RL Stine.
Launching in 2023, the first season featured Justin Long and EastEnders star Zack Morris, while season two was led by Friends star David Schwimmer.
The streamer has announced this week that it won't be continuing the franchise, despite pulling in 75 million viewing hours in the US alone across both seasons.
According to Variety, production studio Sony Pictures Television is keen to shop the series around to other platforms and explore other options for the property.
Fans of the latest iteration of Goosebumps, which was memorably brought to life with an anthology series in the 1990s and later with two feature films starring Jack Black as Stine, have been left disappointed by the decision.
They have particularly criticised the decision to release season two in January with less marketing than the previous entry, which they believe hurt its chances of growing its audience.
One Redditor commented: 'Season 1: released to great fanfare, Halloween-ish time release so fun to watch around the holiday, tons of marketing
'Season 2: released to a random-a** date in January, I didn't even realize it was out until maybe April.'
Other fans have issued a demand for a potential third season or reboot, suggesting it adhere closer to the '90s series format of a new story and cast in each episode.
'It wasn't that good and like are you afraid of the dark revival i just wish they went anthology route instead of season long story,' one fan said.
Someone else agreed: 'This should have been an anthology series. Immediately had no interest in this when finding out it wasn't.'
And a final viewer said: 'God how hard is it to just get the anthology going again with a higher budget! Give me the Scarecrow walks at midnight cowards!'
There are still plenty of passionate fans of the show, however, so it's possible Goosebumps could find a new home eventually.
One five-star Google review raved: 'B****y fantastic. As a die hard goosebumps fan back in the day, who couldn't sleep if my sister said 'Night of the living dummy!' I think they've done a really good job at re-imagining it! 11/10!'
And a second said: 'Goosebumps is a spine-tingling delight for fans of the classic R.L. Stine book series like myself, who remember the goosebumps we used to get from reading the books and watching the original TV show.
'This 2023 TV adaptation takes us on a thrilling journey down memory lane, and it's an absolute blast.'
Could Goosebumps rise from the dead on a new streaming service?
Goosebumps is available to stream on Disney+.

EastEnders' Oscar Branning gets close to unlikely resident - leaving Lauren in shock
New EastEnders spoilers reveal another development in Oscar Branning's storyline before his dad Max returns, as he gets close to one very unlikely resident It's set to be another dramatic week in EastEnders next week - and new spoilers tease another development in Oscar Branning's recent storyline. Last week, Patrick Trueman 's family were left horrified when he was knocked to the floor unconscious after a mystery burglar came in and took his winnings from the horses. Fans of course, were aware the culprit was Oscar, in an attempt to pay off Big Mike. However, he was unaware his sister had already paid off his debt for him. It was then revealed that Howie was also in the know, but instead of telling the police, he tried to blackmail both Oscar and his sister Lauren. Fortunately, Patrick was fine, and next week he returns from hospital. However, he's suffering from anxiety due to his attack - which leaves Howie feeling awful. It comes after EastEnders confirmed Ben Mitchell's return with first look funeral pictures. Howie isn't the only one feeling bad however, as next week, Oscar will be seen chatting to Patrick's fiancé, Yolande. Lauren is left in disbelief when she finds out what's going down, and orders her younger brother to keep his distance. It doesn't seem like Oscar takes any notice though, as he later overhears Yolande telling Kathy that Patrick is too frightened to leave the house, and offers to help her with her bags. As the troubled teen arrives back at No.20, he strikes up a friendship with Patrick, despite having knocked him to the ground a week prior. The two sit down for a game of dominos, and once again, Lauren is left in disbelief when Kathy tells her how Oscar is helping the Truemans. Will Howie spill all? Elsewhere next week, Elaine Peacock is also in trouble when she's throw to the ground by a group of threatening lads after attempting to help her ex George with his brother Kojo. George is left concerned when Okie buys Kojo a new watch, and Elaine offers to help suss the situation out. But when she goes to see Kojo at The Arches, he's surrounded by a group of threatening lads, who throw Elaine to the ground. Stacey's also in trouble when she finds out her SecretCam pictures from years ago have been leaked - and after last week's shenanigans, she suspects Joel right away. It comes just as her daughter Lily makes her return from her dad Ryan's house - and understandably, brings the mood right down.

Lindsay Lohan found it 'hard' to fit in with Mean Girls co-stars for one key reason
While discussing her latest role in Freakier Friday, Lindsay Lohan spoke about her struggle to connect with the other actresses on the set of hit noughties flick Mean Girls Lindsay Lohan has been back in the spotlight this summer while reprising one of her most beloved roles alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to Disney's 2003 hit Freaky Friday. While opening up about her bond with her co-star Julia Butters, Lohan ended up admitting that they have a very different relationship than the one she had with the actresses she starred alongside in the noughties hit Mean Girls. In an interview with The New York Times, Lohan gushed about the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star, saying: "She's my best friend in the entire world. We see each other every single day. That's not even an exaggeration." This comes as fans have gushed over Lindsey Lohan's youthful Freakier Friday premiere look which saw her 'aging backwards'. Jamie Lee Curtis sobs over Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson's 'intimate' relationship Reflecting on her time shooting Mean Girls in 2004, the then actress explained that the age gap between her and the rest of the main cast made it tricky to find her place socially. "It was hard because Rachel McAdams was so much older," Lohan revealed. "I was in school. [And] Amanda and Lacey were all hanging out. It was hard for me to find where I fit in." At the time, McAdams, who famously played queen bee Regina George, was 25, while Lacey Chabert was 21. Amanda Seyfried was 17 like Lohan, but it seems Lindsey still felt there was a distance between them. Mean Girls went on to become a defining moment in Lohan's career, and certain lines from the romcom are still referenced in pop culture two decades later. Even Freakier Friday included a clever nod to the iconic chick flick. Early in the film, viewers meet Anna's new fiancé Eric, who is played by Manny Jacinto. Their whirlwind romance is shown in a montage which ends with with October 3 circled on the calendar as their wedding date. Mean Girls fans will instantly recognise the date. In Mean Girls, when Lohan's character Cady Heron starts to have a crush on a boy in her class, she narrates their first interaction, saying, "On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was." She then turns to him on screen and says, "It's October 3rd." The date is now celebrated annually by fans as 'Mean Girls Day'. Freakier Friday came out 22 years after the original Freaky Friday, and Lohan has said she is grateful to be revisiting Anna at a new stage in life. The follow-up sees Lohan return as Anna Coleman, who once again finds herself swapping bodies with her mum Tess (Curtis). This time, the magical mishap also ropes in Anna's teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepsister Lily (Sophia Hammons).

Danniella Westbrook 'regrets' taking drugs
Danniella Westbrook 'regrets' taking drugs Danniella Westbrook says 'I'm taking some time away' and begs 'please don't' Danniella Westbrook "regrets" taking drugs. The 51-year-old actress has been candid about abusing cocaine from her teenage years and has undergone several bouts of reconstructive surgery on her nose to replace her eroded septum as a result of excessive use of the drug, and she has admitted it took her some time to learn from her mistakes. She told the Daily Star newspaper: "Drugs will always be my biggest regret. But other than that, no. No career regrets as such." "I just think everything's a learning curve, isn't it? It's about how you deal with it personally and what you learn from it. If you learn from it, that is. I'm one of those people who has to learn from a mistake about 12 times before I can see the light. "I'm like Dory, forgetting what's happened. But you know, I was like that. Now I listen. I'll listen to the advice given to me." The former EastEnders star - who shot to fame playing Sam Mitchell on the soap - is on the lookout for new acting roles and is particularly keen to get back on stage. She said: "I'd like to do more theatre. I think I'd like to play Mama Morton in Chicago. I'd like to do Blood Brothers. I'd like to do something completely different from Sam Mitchell. I don't know, maybe a gangster granny or something like that. I just like to do something completely different." Danniella previously admitted her drug habit would've killed her if it hadn't been exposed. Quizzed on whether her drug habits began when she became famous, she said: "They were there, but they weren't as heightened. "I didn't have as much money as I did when I was working on a big show. "I already had issues, a lot of preconceived issues as well but really the media saved me if anything more than once. "By putting me all over the papers, by exposing me in a sense because I had to do something with my life, otherwise I would've ended up dead. Article continues below "For everyone down there's an up, as they say. For me, just being exposed by everything, you've got to look at the positives of it."
