Taylor Swift gets ultimate revenge on nemesis Kanye West with new album The Life of a Showgirl

Daily Mail4 days ago
Taylor Swift 's newly announced album The Life of a Showgirl hasn't even dropped yet, but social media users are convinced it contains a sly jab toward her longtime rival Kanye West.
After announcing her latest project earlier this week, fans of the pop star, 35, couldn't help but notice the title's striking similarity to West's 2016 album The Life of Pablo.
One TikTok user was quick to point out that when you start typing the title into Apple Music, Swift's record, now, appears before West's.
Adding fuel to the theory, the record's cover art features orange tones, the same color palette as The Life of Pablo.
'Am I going crazy or did anyone else notice that??? and his album was orange … bye she's perfect,' the TikToker wrote.
The comments section backed them up, with one fan declaring, 'MASTERMIND,' and another adding, 'She really is a mastermind and I love that about her lol.'
The 14-time Grammy winner and rapper's infamous beef began at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when West stormed the stage during her acceptance speech for Best Female Music Video to argue that Beyoncé deserved the trophy instead.
West emerged on the stage and took the microphone from Swift, telling her, 'Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all-time! One of the best videos of all-time.'
While the musical stars appeared to be on better terms in the years following - they were pictured at a number of events in the years after - things blew up after the release of Kanye's 2016 song Famous.
West claimed at the time that Swift had given him her blessing to refer to her as a 'B****' in the lyrics of the song, in a reference to the VMAs incident.
Swift said she never made such an agreement, leading to a public feud with West after he and his then-wife Kim Kardashian who publicly accused Swift of lying, before leaking a partial phone call between the two.
Later, a leaked video appeared to have proven Taylor told the truth about her phone call with West over his controversial song.
The new clip that surfaced on social media appears to show West didn't consult Swift about the 'b****' lyric, and only asked her about the other line in the song, which was previously mentioned by Kardashian
While defending themselves in the past the former couple did not mention the 'b***' lyric, apparently because they knew the phone conversation with Taylor did not touch upon it.
One TikTok user was quick to point out that when you start typing the title into Apple Music, Swift's record, now, appears before West's
In the footage which was shared on X, West can be seen informing Swift he is writing a song about her and asked her if she could add hype to the song by tweeting it out.
West tells her: 'It has a very controversial line at the beginning of the song about you.'
West then told Swift she 'sounded sad', and the singer questioned if the lyrics were 'mean', to which he reassured her he didn't think they were.
Explaining the context to the lyrics he explains: 'It says, uh... and the funny thing, when I first played it and my wife heard it, she was like, "Huh? What, that's too crazy,"
'And then when Ninja from Die Atwoord hear it, he was like "Oh my god, this is the craziest s**t, this is why I love Kanye..." and now, it's like my wife's favourite f***ing line... I just wanted to give you some premise of that.'
He then says the lyric: 'To all my Southside n***as that know me best / I feel like Taylor Swift might owe me sex.'
Swift laughs and says: 'That's not mean.'
'OK, well this is the thing why I'm calling you, because you got an army, you own a country of motherf***ing 2bn people, basically,' West says.
'If you felt that it's funny and cool and hip hop, and felt like it's the College Dropout and Ye that you love, people would be way into it, and that's why I think it's super genius to have you be the one that says, 'Oh I like this song a lot... this is cool.'
Swift then tells West she needs some time to think about it, adding: 'When you hear something for the first time you need to think about it, because it is absolutely crazy.'
There is no mention West would call her a 'b***h' or suggest he 'made her famous' during the phone call.
In a separate clip which is circulating on Twitter which appears to be from the same call, Swift tells him: 'I [sold] a full 7m of that album before you did that, which is what happened.'
In 2019, Swift revealed to Vogue that she dealt with the high-profile scandal by channeling her pain and anger into her material.
'A mass public shaming, with millions of people saying you are quote-unquote canceled, is a very isolating experience,' she said of the difficult time.
'You're sending mass amounts of messaging to this person to either shut up, disappear, or it could also be perceived as, "Kill yourself."'
As she navigated the scandal, which inspired the tracks This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and Look What You Made Me Do, Swift explained she 'immediately' knew she had to 'make music.'
'I knew it was the only way I could survive it,' Swift told the outlet. 'It was the only way I could preserve my mental health and also tell the story of what it's like to go through something so humiliating.'
In December 2023, Swift slammed Kardashian for 'taking her down psychologically' and forcing her into hiding.
'I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls,' she said during her interview for TIME Magazine's Person of the Year.
During that period, she all but vanished from the public eye, something that she says came as a result of the Kardashian and West fallout.
'I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.'
'I thought that moment of backlash was going to define me negatively for the rest of my life,' she explained.
Yet, in the years that followed, Swift's career has only gone from strength to strength - while West has disgraced himself by making anti-Semitic remarks.

Hollywood star looks unrecognisable with blond locks in breakout movie 32 years ago

Matthew McConaughey looked unrecognisable in his breakout role from the 1993 cult favourite Dazed and Confused. The Hollywood actor, 55, who was only 23-years-old at the time, looked worlds away from himself as he rocked long straight blond locks as he portrayed David Wooderson. His character in the coming-of-age comedy was an older teenager that still hung out with the high school students in the film. Despite Matthew going on to make a name for himself, at the time, the film earned a disappointing $8.25 million worldwide at cinemas after its September 1993 debut. However, it has since secured its position on numerous 'greatest high school films' rankings. Set around the final day of term in a relaxed Texan community in 1976, Dazed and Confused chronicles a collection of secondary school pupils - year 11s progressing to year 12 and year 8s transitioning to secondary education. It follows the teens manoeuvring the edge of maturity as they discover themselves immersed in the depths of teenage years in 1970s America. They celebrate, engage in initiation ceremonies, exhibit characteristic youthful defiance and anxiety, and ponder their destinies - all whilst consuming cannabis and drinking substantial quantities of alcohol, reports the Express. Joining Matthew in the cast was none other than Ben Affleck, as well as Parker Posey, Milla Jovovich, Adam Goldberg, Cole Hauser, Nicky Katt, Joey Lauren Adams, Rory Cochrane, and Anthony Rapp. Dazed and Confused has also received a 94 per cent review rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers wrote: 'Richard Linklaters cinematic flashback... captures a rich pageant of high-school life, circa 1976, in a mere 100 minutes, leaning on nostalgia without wallowing in it'; 'Totally authentic. Every time you watch this film, you're taken back to the 1970s daze of high school. The '70s kids AMERICAN GRAFFITI'; 'The movie's vibe is warm and good-natured, and we feel welcomed into the world of the cool older kids'. It comes after Matthew and his family were spotted as they embarked on a fun day at a Los Angeles theme park. The Pantalones Tequila founder was joined by his wife, Camila Alves, 42, and their three kids — Levi, 16, Vida, 15, and Livingston, 12 — on a trip to Universal Studios, posing for pictures in front of the gate. The Oscar winner looked laid-back in a light blue linen button-down shirt paired with white linen shorts. The Dallas Buyers Club star wore leather flip-flops and topped off his dark blonde curls with a brown-billed hat. He accessorized with a thick gold chain and a pair of aviator sunglasses. His wife looked casually chic in a pair of green and navy blue joggers and a loose fitting white sweater. She placed a brown brimmed Stetson hat over her long, dark locks and planned for a long day of walking with a pair of white sneakers. Her mini-me daughter, Vida wore a lowcut pair of wide leg jeans, with a black belt at the waist and white sneakers. She offered a glimpse of her toned tummy with an asymmetrical black and white sweater. Her long, dark hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Her older brother Levi wore a pair of navy blue golf shorts with a white long sleeve T-shirt and white sneakers. Little brother Livingston was dressed in black shorts and a T-shirt with white sneakers. McConaughey and Alves have chosen to raise their family in the actor's native Texas and away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. To keep their family life more private, they are rarely seen together in public, although an exception was made earlier this year when all of them attended the annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala in Austin earlier this year. McConaughey has been a strong proponent of bringing more film and TV production to Texas. He and longtime friend Woody Harrelson, are the executive producers of comedy called Brothers, loosely based on their actual friendship. The premise is that the two fictional siblings test the bounds of their relationship as they 'combined families attempt to live together on Matthew's ranch in Texas.' Eight of the 10 episodes had been filmed before production came to a halt after the exit of the showrunner due to creative differences, according to Variety. Levi McConaughey made his feature film debut in The Lost Bus, with his dad starring as the driver a school bus who attempts to rescue stranded elementary school students from a deadly fire. 'My first role in a feature film.. how cool is that?' the young actor shared on his Instagram account with a trailer from the film on June 8. The drama is expected to be released in the Fall.

Mother of the bride sparks fury with dress for daughter's wedding, but says she's fed up being a ‘background player'

A MOTHER of the bride has sparked fury after revealing her dress for her daughter's wedding. Despite the fact the 28-year-old bride told her mum she wanted her to look "elegant and understated" - the latter being the keyword - she opted for a full-length WHITE corset dress. 4 4 4 4 In a post on Facebook, she said her daughter had asked her to wear a "classic and timeless" ensemble, adding "maybe something in navy". "Translation: boring and invisible," she wrote. "She also said she didn't care if I wear something bright. "I've spent so much of my life being the background player in everyone else's story that I almost forgot I deserved to be seen too." The dress is emblazoned with sunflowers on the bodice and all the way down, and has a tulle-style underskirt to make it look even puffier. She added that the gown makes her "feel alive in a way I haven't in years". "The sunflowers are bold and joyful, exactly how I want to feel watching my baby girl say her vows," she said. "But every time I look at it, I hear her voice telling me it's 'too much' for a mother of the bride, that people will think I'm trying to upstage her on her special day." However, she said she can't decided whether or not she's "finally ready to take up space instead of shrinking to make others comfortable". "Maybe it's time to be the sunflower instead of the wallflower?" she concluded. I'm 5ft3 & a size 12-14 - my 7 Tesco dresses are an absolute bargain & perfect for a last-minute wedding guest outfit But the comments section was quickly filled with people taking aim at the woman. "Omg you absolutely cannot wear this to a wedding," one person gasped. "What an interesting time to choose to be seen. "Wear what she is asking, it's HER day!" "I thought this was a wedding dress…" another mused. "Her wedding is about her. Not you," a third insisted. Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble. Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom. Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. "You don't need an excuse to wear what you find beautiful. "HOWEVER, RESPECT your daughters request and wear that particular dress ANOTHER day." "This is a background event for you," someone else agreed. "It's lovely but you don't want people talking about your dress - hers is the one." "I absolutely love this dress but... I'm sorry you should not wear this dress to your daughters wedding," another wrote. "It is HER day to shine and be the main focus not you in this dress that looks like a wedding dress.

Golden Globe nominated 70s film star looks unrecognizable 52 years after career-defining role

A 70s film legend, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his biggest gig, looks very different today. The rock star turned actor started out as a drummer before making his mark on the big screen. 4 4 4 Ted Neeley is, of course, best known for playing Jesus in the 1973 film adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar. The role was so impressive, he was nominated for two Golden Globes - one for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and one for Most Promising Newcomer. Unfortunately for Ted, he was pipped to the Best Actor gong by George Segal, who won for his turn in A Touch of Class. And he also lost out in the Best Newcomer category, which was taken home by American Graffiti actor Paul Le Mat. The Jesus Christ Superstar devotee, known as celebrity evangelist on instagram, posed for a shot with Ted, who held a copy of the Holy Bible in the picture. Ted still sported his famous long locks, but looked a long way from his 70s heyday as he now sported glasses, a baker boy style cap and appeared to have lost weight. The fan shared an insight into their encounter, writing: "I asked him who Jesus is to you? "He pondered the question for a bit before saying, 'I owe everything to him. That's who gave me my whole career, and I owe everything to Him.' "I won't go into our private conversation, but I do ask that you be praying for this soul." Ted has reprised his role from the musical several times over the years, including in a highly successful touring company in the 1990s. More recently, Ted also embarked on a tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film, which involved a screening of the musical. followed by a meet-and-greet sessions with him afterwards. He also had a small role in the Quentin Tarantino move Django Unchained. 4 Away from the big screen, Ted has composed music for films such as A Perfect Couple and Blame It on the Night, and for TV shows like Highway to Heaven.
