Key Magpies ruled out of MCG clash with Fremantle
Houston suffered a mild abdominal strain in the Magpies' defeat to Gold Coast last Friday night and will miss the next two weeks.
The former Port Adelaide superboot had scans after playing the Suns, with results ruling him out of facing the Dockers and Richmond.
Hill will sit out a fourth straight match after dealing with personal reasons, and battling with illness last week.
"Hill returned to training over the weekend," Collingwood high performance boss Jarrod Wade said.
"His focus is on resuming full training before a timeline is placed on his return."
Along with Houston, veteran Jeremy Howe will leave another hole in Collingwood's defence after suffering an adductor strain against Gold Coast, ruling him out for two weeks.
But in better news for the Magpies, forward Beau McCreery is set to return against Fremantle after recovering from a hamstring that led him to miss the past three matches.

Premiership star Jordan De Goey is due to come out of concussion protocols in coming days after copping a hit at training.
But De Goey will be put through a two-week training block before being considered to play.
The 29-year-old has been restricted to five games this season, the last coming in round eight against Geelong.
Collingwood being without a number of key players won't worry them.
In round nine, the Magpies travelled to Perth undermanned and managed to secure a 14-point win against Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

They added a guy at quarterback named Aaron Rodgers, added DK Metcalf, traded for him, and got rid of George Pickens. But the Steelers' offense, Charles, I'm gonna let you have the first take. I'm gonna let you bat lead off here. What are you focusing on with the Pittsburgh Steelers offense? It all just depends on how Aaron Rodgers and Arthur Smith mesh, because Aaron Rodgers is 40. He doesn't really move. Last year they had Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. I just don't understand how the marriage is supposed to work from a quarterback to play caller standpoint. I think the talent is just good enough. Maybe they could have a watchable season on offense, but if DK Metcalf gets hurt, even a little, it's 2025. I'm about to say if Robert Woods gets hurt, you're in a bad spot. DK Metcalf is coming off his worst season. Like he has a 10th percentile success rate versus zone coverage last year. He was not great at separating against man coverage, which is not as good as usual, and his contested catch rate was a career low. So, again, I don't even love the idea of trading a guy coming off his worst season and paying him $33 million a year, and now Terry McLaurin is pissed about that because he's been a better player throughout the course of his career, the whole thing. But I was like, all right, if this is gonna work for the Steelers, it's because one thing DK can do is run those deep and breaking routes. That Arthur Smith loves to do with his ex-receiver, but we have a guy that charts quarterbacks, Corey Kennon, reception perception. He noted that Rodgers' worst throws last year from an accuracy standpoint were digs and posts. And I read that in his write-up. I went and charted Garrett Wilson and the like, they didn't have him run a lot of digs because of course the Rodgers offense does not run a lot of digs. It's go routes, slant routes, and those little access throws and stuff. Consistently, the ball is behind Garrett Wilson when he's running open in the middle of the field. This is chunk 2 of 2. Please provide the next chunk to continue. field, so I don't even know if the thing that DK Metcalf would fit best into this offense doing from a past game standpoint, is really what Rogers does well at this stage. So, I just, I don't know, there's a, there's a lot of question marks for a team, um, where again, it's just it's always question marks on this side of the ball. Disturbing Simon Goodwin incident singled out as reasons for $1.2m axing emerge
Fresh details have emerged about the reasons behind Simon Goodwin's axing as Melbourne coach, with the board's contrasting views on the state of the AFL club, and concerns for his wellbeing in the wake of a disturbing death threat cited as major factors. The 2021 premiership-winning coach was sacked on Tuesday after nine seasons at the Demons and with three games of the regular season still remaining. It came after a poor season for Melbourne, who sit in 12th on the ladder and are set to miss out on qualifying for the finals for a third successive year. The club's decision to part ways with Goodwin comes despite the fact he was signed on for another season in 2026, meaning the Demons will reportedly need to pay him out in excess of $1.2 million for terminating the contract. But AFL reporter Jon Ralph told Fox Footy on Wednesday night that the writing had been on the wall for months, following Melbourne's disastrous 0-5 start to the season. He revealed that last week's death threat on Goodwin 'took its toll' on the coach and his family, and that the Demons board did not want the 48-year-old to leave the club after hitting 'rock bottom' so they decided to act right away. Ralph also revealed that the board did not share Goodwin's optimism that they could be premiership contenders again next year, and that a parting of ways was the best thing for all parties. 'Simon Goodwin presented to that board on Monday night, it was all about how this club would compete for a premiership next year: 'We're so close, we can sniff it'," Ralph told Fox Footy's Midweek Tackle. 'That board was diametrically opposed to that view. They were crystal clear this was a club that needed some kind of step or two backwards before it pushed forward. 'So their path was different to his. Was he deluded? Was it blind faith? Somewhere in between? 'The other interesting sub-plot was the death threat to Goodwin last weekend. Hoax or not, it absolutely took its toll on Goodwin and his family. It also gave the Demons another reminder of the toll placed upon him. 'They didn't want him to go out rock bottom as a premiership coach. They could see he was never going to back down or quit, he was always going to forge on ahead to that next premiership. They almost had to make the decision for him. They're two key issues about why Goodwin was removed from his tenure.' And the coach's departure has left the future of a number of Demons superstars under a massive cloud. Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver have both been at the centre of previous trade requests, Judd McVee is coming off contract and thought to be exploring his options, while Jake Lever was reportedly disgruntled after being dropped last month. And Hawthorn legend Luke Hodge questioned what Goodwin's sacking means for captain Max Gawn's future, given the pair had such a close relationship. "There's going to be murmurs and tough conversations and his (Gawn's) mindset now will be 'am I going to have a relationship with the next coach coming in, will I be able to lead as I am'?" Hodge said this week. 'Is this a door opening for Max Gawn? He would have had no thought of ever leaving Melbourne. "They guided him as a young fella into this absolute star of our game. With a new coach coming in, is this his time to say, 'is there a premiership somewhere else for me to go and play?'. It won't be an easy decision for him, but he has to talk to the club, who will want to keep him.'
