Jumeirah drives portfolio expansion with three new developments in Dubai
Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers - an elevated lifestyle in the heart of the city
The new additions further cements Jumeirah's leadership in its home market following the successful opening of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab
As part of its strategy to diversify its portfolio and drive expansion, Jumeirah has segmented its portfolio into four key offerings, rooted in luxury Arabian hospitality
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Jumeirah, a global leader in luxury hospitality and a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the development of three new addresses in Dubai. In line with Jumeirah's Mission 2030 strategy and its focus on growth and diversification, the upcoming additions will include a hotel and two residences.
Jumeirah Asora Bay, hotel and residences, will articulate the evolution of the Jumeirah brand with an elevated design vision and a highly curated experience that is both distinctive and purposeful. Combining architectural innovation with an unparalleled coastal setting, the exclusive development will sit discreetly on the peninsula of La Mer South in Dubai.
The hotel, featuring 103 rooms and suites along with 20 villas, aligns with Jumeirah's renewed vision and investment strategy, which includes a focus on boutique-style properties with up to 150 keys, and places emphasis on suite categories, villas, and branded residences. This approach is also reflected in Jumeirah's European portfolio, including the upcoming opening of Jumeirah Le Richemond in Geneva, as well as established destinations such as Jumeirah Mallorca and Jumeirah Capri Palace. Scheduled to open in 2029, Jumeirah Asora Bay will join the highly coveted Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts offering.
Complementing the hotel will be the Jumeirah Residences Asora Bay launched with Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate. This exclusive residential enclave features 29 residences, including four-to-six-bedroom apartments, one seven-bedroom penthouse, and six ocean villas. The development's hillside location and terraced design offers uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai's skyline.
With an upweighted focus on branded residences, Jumeirah is also introducing Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers — a new expression of elevated living that blends vibrant city life with curated and purposeful experiences.
Featuring 754 units, ranging from one-to-four-bedroom apartments, this new development will redefine urban living in Dubai's business district — a residential experience elevated to new realms. Residents will have access to a wide array of well-being and lifestyle facilities, including a padel court, fitness studios, co-working lounge, private cinema and a podium pool terrace.
Thomas B. Meier, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah said: 'In line with Jumeirah's Mission 2030 strategy, our ongoing ambition is to drive sustainable growth and double the size of our portfolio regionally and internationally. Maintaining a leadership position in our home market is integral to that strategy and, following the successful opening of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab earlier this year, we will further extend our footprint in Dubai with Jumeirah Asora Bay and Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers. These exceptional properties represent the future of the Jumeirah brand, with distinctive and purposeful experiences shaped by intentional design, mindful living and holistic wellbeing.'
He added: 'We remain firmly on track with the delivery of our strategic roadmap and these additions to our portfolio will further strengthen our global reputation as an industry pioneer and brand of influence.'
Commenting on the announcement, Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said: "Meraas is proud to partner with Jumeirah in shaping the future of luxury living in Dubai. Jumeirah Residences Asora Bay and Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers are more than just residential addresses; they are meticulously designed lifestyle destinations for the world's most discerning homebuyers and investors. Emulating Meraas' commitment to exceptional urban experiences, these residences combine innovative design, premium amenities, and renowned Jumeirah hospitality, setting a new standard for residential excellence and reinforcing Dubai's leadership in global luxury real estate."
As part of its strategy to diversify its portfolio and drive expansion through both acquisitions and hotel management agreements, Jumeirah has segmented its portfolio into four key offerings, rooted in luxury Arabian hospitality: Jumeirah Icons, Jumeirah Privé, Jumeriah Hotels & Resorts, and Jumeirah Residences.
Jumeirah Icons currently includes Jumeirah Burj Al Arab and will become a limited-edition collection of iconic addresses that shape the identity of cities, setting new benchmarks in design, prestige and hospitality. The newly established Jumeirah Privé, which features Jumeirah Thanda Island, is a curated, ultra-luxury collection of secluded islands, estates and villas, offering the ultimate privacy and exclusivity paired with the world-class service and amenities of Jumeirah. Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts remains the foundation of the brand, featuring a range of properties in some of the world's most inspirational destinations. The final segment is Jumeirah Residences, which has become an increased focus for the brand, designed to elevate and inspire living well, every day.
Jumeirah recently marked its entry into Africa with the introduction of Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in South Africa. Most recently, the brand officially opened the highly anticipated Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab in Dubai — a new lifestyle destination that reflects Jumeirah's vision to create vibrant communities by seamlessly integrating hospitality, residences, and retail. With the upcoming openings of Jumeirah The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and Jumeirah Le Richemond Geneva in Switzerland, the brand continues to expand its presence in major gateway cities and resort destinations, further strengthening its position as a global leader in luxury hospitality.

RTA launches major upgrade of Umm Suqeim St to boost traffic flow
Image: Dubai Media Office/ RTA Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a major urban infrastructure project to upgrade Umm Suqeim Street. The project spans from the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street with Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road, and is part of a broader plan to enable uninterrupted traffic flow from Jumeirah to Al Qudra Road over a distance of 20 kilometres. It is designed to improve traffic flow, accommodate urban growth, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors. Unlike traditional roadworks, the development incorporates creative and aesthetic urban design elements. These include upgraded pedestrian walkways, a dedicated cycling track, complete streets (boulevards), and vibrant community spaces to promote social interaction and create inclusive environments. A direct link will also be established between Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and nearby residential communities. The initiative is part of RTA's master plan to overhaul the surrounding Further details will be announced in due course. Strategic corridor to serve over two million residents Mattar Al Tayer, DG and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at Al Tayer noted that the project will enhance connectivity across four major transport corridors—Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. The road's capacity will rise to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, reducing travel time between Jumeirah Street and Al Khail Road from 20 minutes to six. It will serve areas including Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Manara, Al Sufouh, Umm Al Sheif, Al Barsha, and Al Quoz. Six key intersections, 4,100 metres of tunnels and bridges Al Tayer added that the project will upgrade six major intersections: Jumeirah Street, Al Wasl Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, First Al Khail Street, Al Asayel Street, and Al Khail Road. Plans include the construction of four bridges and three tunnels, totaling 4,100 metres. At the Jumeirah Street junction, a tunnel with two lanes in each direction and a signalised junction will be built. A second two-lane tunnel at Al Wasl Street will facilitate movement from Sheikh Zayed Road to Jumeirah Street. Two bridges will be constructed at Sheikh Zayed Road to eliminate traffic conflicts, and a tunnel at First Al Khail Street will accommodate traffic from Al Barsha to Sheikh Zayed Road. The stretch between First Al Khail and Al Asayel Streets will be widened to four lanes per direction. At Al Khail Road, two flyovers will be constructed — one linking Al Khail Road with Al Quoz Industrial Area, and another enabling traffic from Umm Suqeim Street to head toward Deira. The RTA is currently progressing on a 4.6-kilometre stretch between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This includes redeveloping the intersection at Al Barsha South near Kings' School through an 800-metre tunnel with four lanes in each direction and a surface-level intersection. The work is over 70 per cent complete and is expected to open in Q3 2025. Al Qudra Road intersections also set for upgrade A separate project is also underway to enhance intersections along Al Qudra Road, from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road via Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. It includes 2,700 metres of bridges and 11.6 kilometres of road widening, cutting travel time from 9.4 to 2.8 minutes. Key upgrades include a 600-metre, eight-lane bridge at the intersection between Al Qudra Road and the street connecting Arabian Ranches with Dubai Studio City, and a 700-metre, seven-lane bridge at Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. Additional ramps will ensure smoother traffic transitions. Further developments feature a 500-metre bridge connecting Al Qudra Road with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street toward Jebel Ali, and a 900-metre bridge serving traffic headed toward Dubai's city centre and airport. Service roads spanning three kilometres will be constructed along both sides of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The project also includes the extension of Al Qudra Road from Emirates Road to a key roundabout serving development zones, with additional lanes in both directions. A new road will be developed in the southern section of the development zone to link it with Emirates Road, alongside increasing lane capacity on both sides of Emirates Road to improve access to neighbouring projects.

Indian airline IndiGo orders 30 Airbus A350 widebody planes
Indian airline IndiGo said on Sunday it had signed an order for 30 more Airbus A350-900s, bringing its shopping list for the widebody aircraft from the European aircraft manufacturer to 60. 'We are placing a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s,' said Pieter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, a company founded in 2006 and already behind the largest contract by volume in the history of civil aviation -- 500 Airbus single-aisle aircraft by 2023. The Indian low-cost carrier, the country's biggest by market share, is positioning itself as a significant player in the long-haul market. 'This strategic move will enable IndiGo to spread its wings further and expand its long-haul international network', the company said in a statement. 'This is yet another step in defining the airline's long-term plans of international expansion'. The A350 planes, with ranges of up to 15,000 kilometres (9,300 miles), will allow it to further expand its network. Overall, IndiGo has placed orders for around 1,000 aircraft from the A320 family, Airbus's most successful model and rival of the Boeing 737 MAX, which has endured multiple setbacks after a series of safety scares. Willie Walsh, director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which began its annual industry conference in New Delhi on Sunday, said 'the development of India's air connectivity in recent years has been nothing short of phenomenal'. Indian domestic air growth is 'running at over 10 percent' per year, Walsh said, ahead of the conference. The growth of its economy has made India and its 1.4 billion people the world's fourth-largest air market -- domestic and international -- with IATA projecting it will become the third biggest within the decade. Last year, India's domestic air passenger traffic reached a 'historic milestone, surpassing 500,000 passengers in a single day', according to India's Ministry of Civil Aviation. Railways remain hugely popular but travelling by trains crisscrossing a country about three-quarters the area of the European Union is often slow and chaotic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is slated to address IATA delegates on Monday, has made the development of the air sector a priority since coming to power in 2014. Separately, the International Air Transport Association said on Sunday it expects the amount of sustainable aviation fuel produced to double in 2025 to reach 2 million tonnes, representing 0.7% of airlines' fuel consumption. Influential industry body IATA has increasingly been warning that airlines will struggle to meet their sustainability goals, and has described the production of SAF - which is more expensive than conventional jet fuel - as disappointingly slow.
