Jumeirah drives portfolio expansion with three new developments in Dubai
The new additions further cements Jumeirah's leadership in its home market following the successful opening of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab
As part of its strategy to diversify its portfolio and drive expansion, Jumeirah has segmented its portfolio into four key offerings, rooted in luxury Arabian hospitality
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Jumeirah, a global leader in luxury hospitality and a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the development of three new addresses in Dubai. In line with Jumeirah's Mission 2030 strategy and its focus on growth and diversification, the upcoming additions will include a hotel and two residences.
Jumeirah Asora Bay, hotel and residences, will articulate the evolution of the Jumeirah brand with an elevated design vision and a highly curated experience that is both distinctive and purposeful. Combining architectural innovation with an unparalleled coastal setting, the exclusive development will sit discreetly on the peninsula of La Mer South in Dubai.
The hotel, featuring 103 rooms and suites along with 20 villas, aligns with Jumeirah's renewed vision and investment strategy, which includes a focus on boutique-style properties with up to 150 keys, and places emphasis on suite categories, villas, and branded residences. This approach is also reflected in Jumeirah's European portfolio, including the upcoming opening of Jumeirah Le Richemond in Geneva, as well as established destinations such as Jumeirah Mallorca and Jumeirah Capri Palace. Scheduled to open in 2029, Jumeirah Asora Bay will join the highly coveted Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts offering.
Complementing the hotel will be the Jumeirah Residences Asora Bay launched with Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate. This exclusive residential enclave features 29 residences, including four-to-six-bedroom apartments, one seven-bedroom penthouse, and six ocean villas. The development's hillside location and terraced design offers uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai's skyline.
With an upweighted focus on branded residences, Jumeirah is also introducing Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers — a new expression of elevated living that blends vibrant city life with curated and purposeful experiences.
Featuring 754 units, ranging from one-to-four-bedroom apartments, this new development will redefine urban living in Dubai's business district — a residential experience elevated to new realms. Residents will have access to a wide array of well-being and lifestyle facilities, including a padel court, fitness studios, co-working lounge, private cinema and a podium pool terrace.
Thomas B. Meier, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah said: 'In line with Jumeirah's Mission 2030 strategy, our ongoing ambition is to drive sustainable growth and double the size of our portfolio regionally and internationally. Maintaining a leadership position in our home market is integral to that strategy and, following the successful opening of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab earlier this year, we will further extend our footprint in Dubai with Jumeirah Asora Bay and Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers. These exceptional properties represent the future of the Jumeirah brand, with distinctive and purposeful experiences shaped by intentional design, mindful living and holistic wellbeing.'
He added: 'We remain firmly on track with the delivery of our strategic roadmap and these additions to our portfolio will further strengthen our global reputation as an industry pioneer and brand of influence.'
Commenting on the announcement, Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said: "Meraas is proud to partner with Jumeirah in shaping the future of luxury living in Dubai. Jumeirah Residences Asora Bay and Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers are more than just residential addresses; they are meticulously designed lifestyle destinations for the world's most discerning homebuyers and investors. Emulating Meraas' commitment to exceptional urban experiences, these residences combine innovative design, premium amenities, and renowned Jumeirah hospitality, setting a new standard for residential excellence and reinforcing Dubai's leadership in global luxury real estate."
As part of its strategy to diversify its portfolio and drive expansion through both acquisitions and hotel management agreements, Jumeirah has segmented its portfolio into four key offerings, rooted in luxury Arabian hospitality: Jumeirah Icons, Jumeirah Privé, Jumeriah Hotels & Resorts, and Jumeirah Residences.
Jumeirah Icons currently includes Jumeirah Burj Al Arab and will become a limited-edition collection of iconic addresses that shape the identity of cities, setting new benchmarks in design, prestige and hospitality. The newly established Jumeirah Privé, which features Jumeirah Thanda Island, is a curated, ultra-luxury collection of secluded islands, estates and villas, offering the ultimate privacy and exclusivity paired with the world-class service and amenities of Jumeirah. Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts remains the foundation of the brand, featuring a range of properties in some of the world's most inspirational destinations. The final segment is Jumeirah Residences, which has become an increased focus for the brand, designed to elevate and inspire living well, every day.
Jumeirah recently marked its entry into Africa with the introduction of Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in South Africa. Most recently, the brand officially opened the highly anticipated Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab in Dubai — a new lifestyle destination that reflects Jumeirah's vision to create vibrant communities by seamlessly integrating hospitality, residences, and retail. With the upcoming openings of Jumeirah The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and Jumeirah Le Richemond Geneva in Switzerland, the brand continues to expand its presence in major gateway cities and resort destinations, further strengthening its position as a global leader in luxury hospitality.

Prospects Of Ukraine Peace Deal Brighten After Trump-Zelensky Meeting
By Nitya Chakraborty The prospects of arriving at a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia to end the nearly three and half year old war have brightened after the Monday meeting of President Donald Trump with the Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House in the presence of the major European government heads. As a follow up, President Putin will be meeting Zelensky at a one on one meeting within next few days in a third country followed by a trilateral meeting to be attended by Trump. Two issues on which Trump was insistent was that Ukraine will not get back Crimea which Russia took control in 2014 and Ukraine will have to give up its ambition to become a member of NATO. To compensate this, Trump agreed to security guarantee to Ukraine by the European powers as also the USA. There are issues about land swapping. Those have been discussed but Trump has asked Zelensky to talk with Putin bilaterally. This actual control issue of some the areas remain unresolved as of now and this hurdle has to be crossed at the bilateral meeting. But if the US sources are to be believed, Trump has some proposals on land swapping which might be the basis for an understanding at the next meeting. Overall, the situation is positive as far as the prospects of ending the Ukraine war finally. President Putin has talked of the bilateral meeting within next two weeks, but Trump is in a hurry and so is Zelensky. Possibility is there, the bilateral one on one meeting will be held much before that. For Trump, it is a matter of personal prestige as any failure this time in arriving at a peace agreement will be taken as his personal failure also as a peace maker. In the entire efforts at making deal to end the Ukraine war, Trump has used trade and arms purchases from the USA as a bait to persuade the recalcitrant countries to come to agreement. This approach has been pursued with more vigour in the case of Ukraine which is very rich in minerals including rare earth but badly needs huge arms to modernize more its armed forces and air power. Trump took advantage of this and extracted a US$ 500 billion deal in March/April this year from Ukraine President in the first round of talks for ending Ukraine war, and in the current round, Zelensky has agreed to buy $ 90 billion arms from the USA to modernize its army. Talks have been held to allow Ukraine to export its own manufactured drones to the USA. After this$90billion purchase of arms from the US companies, Ukraine will assess its own requirements and place orders. Thus, Trump has opened up a big opportunity for the US defence companies in the US market, irrespective of the peace deal. Ukraine, with its $12.5 trillion in mineral wealth – including 20% of global titanium, significant lithium, and rare earths is a big attractive market to both Trump and Putin. While Trump is interested in the mineral wealth of Ukraine and already he has made a big deal, Putin is equally interested in getting control of big deposits of coal, gas and rare earth in some provinces of Ukraine like Donesk, Luhansk and Kherson. These were the part of Soviet Union in the communist rule. President Putin who was a leading member of the CPSU and the chief of KGB, still dreams of Greater Russia. His annexation of some strategic areas of Ukraine has to do with his nationalistic ambitions on Greater Russia, apart from taking steps to combat threat from NATO. The US, under Trump's second administration, counters with its own expansionist agenda. The April 2025 Ukraine-United States Mineral Resources Agreement ties Kyiv's economic recovery to American corporates.. This deal subjugates Ukraine's resources to US firms seeking to counter China's dominance in rare earth processing. In the latest US-China trade deal, Trump was able to extract a concession from China on resuming supply of rare earth minerals to the US market, but this was of small quantity. Trump wants to have bigger share of the rare earth minerals market and collaboration with Ukraine can ensure that. Ukraine economy is suffering in the last three and half years of war since February 24, 2022. The government badly needs massive financial support to rebuild its economy. That is not possible without big help from the USA. In 2022, the GDP of Ukraine went down by 28.8 per cent, but it recovered to 5.3 per cent in 2023 and 3.5 per cent in 2024. In 2025, the projected GDP growth is only 2 per cent. Thousands of young soldiers have died. Ukraine people are tired of the war ravages. They are looking for a respite. Nearly 33 million population of the country generally maintain a good living standard with the per capita GDP at $ 6261 projected in 2025. Sector wise services contribute 60 per cent to the GDP, industry 28.6 per cent and agriculture 12.2 per cent. Ukraine will need a massive rehabilitation and reconstruction programme if the war finally ends. But if the peace agreement is not reached at the proposed bilateral and trilateral meetings and the war intensifies, the impact on the Ukraine economy will be tragic. Ukraine people are looking at the coming meetings with big expectations that their woes will be over. (IPA Service)

Big-ticket events set the stage for tourism growth in the Middle East
According to the ATM Travel Trends report, 50% of industry experts consider leisure events as a key opportunity for the region's tourism growth Experts speaking at ATM 2025 discussed how global sports tournaments, cultural festivals and music events across the region are boosting tourism and economic growth Dubai, United Arab Emirates: 'Big-ticket' events are playing a pivotal role in driving international tourism and accelerating economic growth, according to experts speaking recently at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025. In the GCC alone, the event and exhibition market is expected to reach US$827 million by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 3.94%. Following the global success of mega-events such as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Expo 2020 Dubai, momentum is building across the region as Saudi Arabia prepares to host the 2034 World Cup. Discussing the evolution and impact of these events, panellists including H.E. Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Sebastien Doussin, Senior Vice President - Global Travel Services & Destination Management. Dnata and Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), shared fascinating insights at ATM 2025, where the events industry was under the spotlight. The panel addressed how big-ticket events – so-called for their high value, cost and impact – have demonstrated their ability to attract millions of international visitors, boost hotel occupancy, stimulate infrastructure growth and generate long-term brand positioning for host destinations. Highlighting the importance of understanding the long-term strategic value of big-ticket events beyond immediate sales, H.E. Khalid Jassim Al Midfa commented: ' Big-ticket events provide a destination with an opportunity to establish brand positioning and exposure in a competitive global environment. These events play a vital role in supporting broader government objectives, but it is essential to invest in the right product for your destination.' Doussin reaffirmed the importance of large-scale events in destination positioning, referencing the growth of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the surge of international golfing tournaments throughout the UAE and the launch of NBA events in the capital. Commenting on the impact of technology on events, Doussin said: 'Technology has already changed big-ticket events, especially in terms of distribution and customer experience. All of the ticketing for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar was completely digital through the official event app, offering flexibility and ease of use. Ultimately, technology enables an event to become more seamless, easier and enjoyable.' Meanwhile, Hamid urged the industry to broaden the definition of big-ticket events to include exhibitions, conferences and cultural performances. He referenced Bangkok's weekly concerts, which are mainly K-pop driven, as examples of how live entertainment extends tourist stays. Supporting the panel's observations, the ATM Travel Trends report highlights the rising appeal of live entertainment and sports in influencing travel decisions. Leisure events were outlined as the top opportunity for tourism growth among 50% of industry experts, as consumer demand for in-person and cultural experiences has increased significantly in recent years. The trend of combining traditional leisure and business travel, or 'bleisure', has also accelerated as increased remote working and flexible working visas have enabled more people to live and work overseas. Building on this, business travellers are often extending their stays in destinations, creating a new opportunity in this rapidly expanding sector. The report also highlighted that business events (MICE) are emerging as a significant driver of tourism growth across the Middle East, complementing the region's thriving leisure sector. Global business travel reached a record US$1.4 trillion in 2024 and is projected to rise to US$2 trillion by 2030. The Middle East is well-positioned to capture a growing share of this lucrative market, increasing from approximately 2.5% in 2024 to over 3% by the end of the decade, supported by world-class infrastructure, a strategic location, and an expanding schedule of high-profile events. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, concluded: 'As big-ticket events continue to gain global prominence, their role in shaping the future of tourism, driving economic diversification and enhancing international reputation has never been more evident. The Middle East, with its strategic vision, world-class infrastructure and focus on innovation, is well-positioned to lead the next era of global event tourism.' Building on the success of its inaugural edition, IBTM@ATM will return to ATM 2026, which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 4-7 May 2026, with a dedicated zone within Hall 3, highlighting the show's strategic focus on the global business events sector. Disneyland Abu Dhabi: 8 things we know about the new theme park so far
A whole new world is landing on Yas Island – and it's wearing mouse ears. Yep, the Walt Disney Company is building a full-blown theme park resort right here in Abu Dhabi and the excitement is already off the charts. It'll be the seventh Disney destination in the world – and the very first in the Middle East. The park is still a few years away from opening, but we've been keeping our ears perked for news and we've already got a handful of dazzling details. From a futuristic castle to local UAE stories woven into the rides, here's what we know so far about Disney's Arabian debut. Disney Abu Dhabi: what we know so far 1. It's officially coming to Yas Island The new Disney park will join the already stacked theme park line-up on Yas Island (hello, Ferrari World, SeaWorld and Warner Bros. World). Yas isn't just Abu Dhabi's entertainment capital – it's becoming the region's ultimate family playground. Disney is the cherry on top of an already thrilling sundae. 2. It'll be the most high-tech Disney park ever According to Disney Experiences chairman Josh D'Amaro, the Abu Dhabi project will 'push the boundaries of theme park design,' showcasing 'groundbreaking technology' and 'visionary architecture'. There's even talk of a modern castle design unlike anything in the Disney universe so far. Think less Cinderella and more cutting-edge sparkle (with a touch of Frozen maybe?). 3. It's packed with local flair This won't be a copy-paste Disneyland. Disney Abu Dhabi will fuse beloved Disney stories with distinct Emirati cultural touches, bringing local heritage and tradition into the spotlight. Expect regionally inspired storytelling, architecture and design details woven throughout the park. 4. It's going to be a major economic boost Thousands of new jobs are expected to be created – not just at the park itself, but across hospitality, tourism and entertainment sectors. Yas Island and surrounding communities are likely to see a surge in population and activity. 5. Property prices are set to skyrocket If you already own a slice of Yas, you're in luck. Real estate insiders are predicting a big leap in value as excitement around the park builds. Rental yields, particularly short-term holiday lets, are expected to soar as fans, families and tourists flock to the area. 6. It's going to change the region's tourism game Why fly 15 hours to Disneyland California, when you can do it all in Abu Dhabi? Disney's arrival will draw visitors from across the UAE, GCC, Africa, India and beyond. Winter holidays in the capital? Yes, please. 7. You'll need to wait (just a little while) No need to start queueing just yet – this isn't opening tomorrow. The park is currently in the early design stages and given the scope, we're likely looking at a Disney opening date for Abu Dhabi sometime between 2030 and 2032. In Disney time, that's basically just the next scene. 8. It's going to beat the heat It's (sort of) outdoors – but also indoors. Basically, it's magic. The answer, like any good Disney plot twist, isn't so straightforward. According to Disney Parks boss Josh D'Amaro, the new Yas Island mega-project will be a hybrid, combining the best of indoor comfort with outdoor charm. They're being very ambitious, architecture, tech and water are all coming into play – which sounds like there might be a splash of Moana inspiration involved. Here's the kicker: the park is being built right up against the water. Think cool breezes, waterfront vistas and, who knows – maybe even an indoor-outdoor castle that literally lets the sea into the storyline. Living in the UAE UAE Public Holidays 2025: the dates you need to know Yes, we have predicted dates too 5 unexpected Emirates ID perks you should seriously be using And yes, they all make our lives a little bit easier Islamic calendar vs. Gregorian calendar: Why UAE public holiday dates change every year Consider this your ultimate guide
