Iconic Kinetic DX to make a comeback in India on July 28, to come as an electric scooter
Kinetic DX is one of the iconic scooters in India that is ready to make a comeback in the country, and this time in a pure electric guise. The Kinetic Green DX is slated for debut on July 28, 2025. This is going to be Kinetic's second attempt at reviving a legacy nameplate after the brand announced that it will bring the E-Luna, which will be an all-electric avatar of the iconic moped. While Kinetic has already patented the E-Luna in India ahead of the electric moped's slated launch in India during the festive season this year, the auto company has teased the DX electric scooter ahead of its debut next Monday. The original Kinetic DX scooter was built between 1984 and 2007 by a joint venture between India's Kinetic Engineering and Japan's Honda Motor Company. The Kinetic DX was actually based on the Honda NH Series scooters and powered by a 98 cc two-stroke, air-cooled engine. However, the new one will be a complete departure from that as it will come as an all-electric model instead. Kinetic Green, a subsidiary of the Kinetic Group, had recently submitted the design patent for the new DX electric scooter. The design patent application of the EV reveals a striking resemblance to the original Kinetic Honda DX. Visually, it looks almost identical, except for the new Kinetic Green logo on the front apron and a rectangular LED headlamp cluster that gets the same design but with fresh LED DRLs. Side panels have been changed to look like the original model, and the rear profile comes with a new grab rail, as compared to the spare tyre, which used to be found on the original model. The 'Kinetic' logo is displayed on the flyscreen of the design patent, as compared to the 'Kinetic Honda' on the original scooter. Kinetic has kept the technical details under wraps. However, expect the model to be a family-focused EV with a good blend of performance and range. There are no details on the launch of the EV as of now, but we look forward to Kinetic releasing more information in the near future. Upon launch, it will challenge rivals such as Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Ola S1 X, etc.

E-rickshaws banned from ferrying school children in Bhopal from Monday
BHOPAL: Use of E-rickshaws to ferry school children has been banned due to safety reasons in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal from Monday. The Bhopal district collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh has ordered the ban of E-rickshaws for transport of school children, considering the vehicle not safe for children. The decision was taken based on the discussions held at the recent meeting for streamlining and ensuring safe road traffic in the MP capital. The meeting chaired on Friday by the Bhopal MP and ex-mayor Alok Sharma and attended among others by the higher ups of the district administration and the police commissionerate, had found battery powered E-rickshaws unsafe for school children. After the meeting, the district collector issued the order, banning the use of E-rickshaws to ferry school children. The order will come into effect from Monday and the school education department with the help of district administration and police will ensure that it's duly followed. According to Bhopal police sources, around 12,500 E-rickshaws are currently registered in Bhopal. Though these battery powered vehicles aren't attached with schools officially, many parents are using them to send their wards to school. 'Fortunately, there hasn't been any accident with school children travelling by E-rickshaw so far, but keeping in mind it's lightweight amid the fast traffic in the city, safety is a big concern for school children going to school by the battery powered vehicle,' a Bhopal police officer told the TNIE. 'In some cases, it has also been found that untrained and teenaged drivers are driving the E-rickshaws and that too at high speed, which makes the vehicle more unsafe, particularly when being used to ferry children,' sources added.

Formula E's Driving Force program aims to guide 50,000 students amid need for skilled workforce in UK
Formula E (Image credit: Formula E) Formula E has several initiatives running under its sustainability campaign. Among them is a youth education program called Driving Force, supported by PIF E360. It aims to teach children between the ages of 8 and 18 about science, technology, and sustainability. The goal is to reach over 50,000 students worldwide by the end of 2025. All about Formula E's Driving Force program supported by PIF E360 The Driving Force initiative comes at a time when there is expected to be a massive demand for 200,000 skilled workers in the UK for green jobs by 2030, according to PwC. Driving Force helps students learn about clean energy and the environment. It also introduces them to role models from the fields of science and technology, helping them gain the knowledge and confidence needed to consider careers in these areas. These workshops use fun and practical activities to show how what students learn in school can lead to exciting real-world careers in racing, clean energy, engineering, and more. Driving Force workshops in London On July 16, over 90 students participated in Formula E's Driving Force workshop at Hammersmith Academy in London. The session was one of five workshops held at schools across London in July, near the London E-Prix race site in East London and Formula E's headquarters in Hammersmith. Earlier this year, similar workshops were also held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Miami, USA, during Formula E race weeks. Julia Pallé, VP of Sustainability at Formula E, said, "A survey in 2024 of more than 7,000 UK secondary school students reveals a worrying downward trend in both their involvement in and their ambition to pursue STEM subjects — a stark wake-up call for educators and policymakers alike." "Teachers are being asked to make stronger connections between subjects and careers, but they need support from employers to do that effectively. Driving Force, presented by PIF E360, is part of the solution to help the education system deliver what our students and our green economy both desperately need to succeed,' she added. For example, they recently participated in a beach clean-up near the site of the Jakarta E-Prix. Sustainable drinking water cups and similar practices are small but meaningful contributions by Formula E toward making motorsport as sustainable as ever.
