4000 institutes didn't get One Nation One Subscription benefits: Centre's panel

However, as the Committee noted in its 364th Report on Demand for Grants of the Higher Education Department (FY 24-25), about 4,000 of the 7,008 eligible institutions had still not received the benefits of the ONOS,' the report stated.The panel has asked the Department of Higher Education to provide updated information on steps taken to accelerate the scheme's coverage so that all eligible institutions can avail of its intended benefits.CONCERNS OVER ANRF FUND UTILISATIONThe Committee has also raised concerns over the functioning of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), established under the ANRF Act, 2023.It acknowledged that the Act was brought out in letter and spirit, with provisions for an Executive Council to give high-level strategic directions, monitor performance, and envision the implementation of the Foundation's objectives.However, the panel flagged that the ANRF had not been able to spend any of its budgeted funds for the previous financial year.NEED FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND PROGRESSThe report noted, 'As per the provisions, an Executive Council was constituted wherein high-level strategic directions were given, performance monitored and implementation of the objectives of the Foundation was envisioned. However, in its discussions on the Demands for Grants of the Department of Higher Education in FY 2024-25, the Committee was informed that the ANRF had not been able to spend any of its budgeted funds for the previous financial year.'The panel has asked to be apprised of the current status of ANRF's functioning and any further initiatives undertaken to ensure it meets its objectives effectively.Both the ONOS and ANRF initiatives are seen as critical for advancing research and education in India. The Committee's recommendations stress that timely implementation and proper fund utilisation are essential to achieve their goals.- Ends

The Dwarka Expressway, fully operational, has been built in four packages at a cost of around Rs 9,000 crore. Its Haryana section was inaugurated by Modi in March 2024, just before the Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the UER-II was executed in five packages with a total cost of Rs 7,716 crore. As per the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the UER-II begins at Alipur on NH-44 and connects with NH-9 and NH-48 in Delhi. Of the 76 km stretch, 54.2 km lies in Delhi while the remaining 21.5 km falls in Haryana. Conceived under the Delhi Master Plan 2021, it will also link the proposed IICC in Dwarka via the Dwarka Expressway, as per a TNN report. Haryana CM Saini releases fodder grant of Rs 1.80 cr for cow shelters
Agency: PTI Kurukshetra, Aug 16 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday released a fodder grant of Rs 1.80 crore for 19 gaushalas (cow shelters) here. He further said the state government will release Rs 88.50 crore as fodder subsidy for 605 gaushalas across the state. Saini was addressing a gathering during a programme at Gita Gyan Sansthan, Kurukshetra, on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami. He extended his greetings on the festival. During the programme, he also released a research publication on the 'Gita' and Ayurveda. Earlier, he visited Sri Krishna Kripa Gaushala, where he offered prayers, and fed jaggery and fodder to cows, and performed rituals at Sri Krishna Kripa temple, said an official release. He said that over the past ten-and-a-half years, the government has provided fodder subsidies worth Rs 270 crore to registered gaushalas. With the current release, the total subsidy amount has now reached Rs 358.50 crore, he added. In 2014-�15, the budget for Haryana Gau Seva Aayog was only Rs two crore, said Saini, adding that the present government raised it to Rs 595 crore this year, he said. Until 2014, Haryana had only 215 registered gaushalas with about 1.75 lakh cattle. Currently, there are 686 registered gaushalas housing nearly about four lakh stray cattle. Solar power plants have been installed in 330 gaushalas, and the work to set them up in the remaining gaushalas will soon be completed, he said.
