'Knees me jo dard hota hai uska kaun...': MS Dhoni responds to fan's ‘you have to play in IPL 2026' request
Will he? Won't he? The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is still seven months away, but the one question lingering on everyone's minds is whether MS Dhoni will turn up one more season for his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK)? The long-time talisman has been battling knee pain season after season, but still, he has kept the five-time champions at the top of his priority list. CSK finished at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2025. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Dhoni turns up one more season as a player. Will MS Dhoni play IPL 2026 for the Chennai Super Kings? (HT_PRINT) The 2011 World Cup-winning captain made an appearance during an event recently, and it was there that he spoke about his future plans, saying there is still a lot of time left for him to decide whether he will play the IPL 2026 edition or not. 'I don't know whether I'll play or not. I have time to decide. I have some time until December, so I'll take another couple of months, and then finally, I can make my decision,' said Dhoni while interacting with the host. Also Read: Ravichandran Ashwin tells CSK he wants to quit the IPL franchise; decision final after MS Dhoni, Gaikwad meet It was then that a fan jumped in, shouting, 'You have to play, sir.' It was then that Dhoni responded in his own witty style, saying, 'Arre, ghutne me jo dard hota hai uska take care kaun karega (The pain I have in my knees, who will take care of that)?' Right after the IPL 2023 final, which CSK won by beating the Gujarat Titans, Dhoni underwent knee surgery in Mumbai. Throughout the season, the wicketkeeper-batter had been managing a knee injury. He ensured the season got over before undergoing surgery to allow for a longer rehabilitation period before the start of the IPL 2024 edition. In the last two editions of the IPL, Dhoni has been batting lower down the order, and the main reason has been his decreasing speed between the wickets. It has been attributed to the knee surgery he underwent. Dhoni steps in as captain In the IPL 2025 season, Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out midway through the tournament due to a hairline fracture in his elbow. Hence, MS Dhoni stepped in as the stand-in skipper. However, he was unable to change the fortunes, as the five-time champions finished at the bottom of the table. Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been meeting with the CSK officials in Chennai recently to discuss the strategy ahead of the IPL 2026 season. It is being reported that Ravichandran Ashwin has informed the franchise about his intention to part ways and find a new home. Ashwin had a poor IPL 2025 season, picking up just seven wickets in nine matches.

Rumesh Pathirage stuns Sachin Yadav to secure World Championship qualification

It was one and done for young Pathirage, who set the standard with his very first throw of the event, landing a massive throw of throw not only fetched him direct qualification into the World Athletics Championships this year, but also had the field reeling. The Indian trio of Sachin Yadav, Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav, expected to perform well in the event, simply failed to catch up on the was the second time that Rumesh performed in front of an Indian crowd. In July, he participated in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, where he bagged the bronze medal. He had sneaked into third place, going past Sachin Yadav, who finished in fourth place. Sachin, who is seen as the next big thing in Indian javelin after Neeraj Chopra, struggled from the very start in Bhubaneshwar's humid conditions. In the pre-event press conference, Sachin had revealed that he had suffered an ankle injury at the Neeraj Chopra Classic, which might have taken its toll Tour: Men's Javelin StandingsRumesh Pathirage: 86.50mShivam Lokhare: 80.73mS Ranasinghe: 80.65mRohit Yadav: 80.35mSachin Yadav: 79.80mYashvir Singh: 78.53mThe failure in the men's javelin was a bummer for the crowd as this event was expected to be the crowd-puller. While the men's failed to secure the top spot in javelin, India's Annu Rani, showed signs of returning to sensational form on Sunday. Annu, freshly back from her top show in Poland, showed that her first 60+m throw was not a fluke, by putting in yet another stunning throw at the Kalinga Stadium. Chennai To Host 3-Day Patriotic Film Festival Ahead Of Independence Day Celebrations
Patriotism has long been a central theme in Indian cinema, with filmmakers across generations celebrating the nation's history, struggles, and spirit through powerful storytelling. This Independence Day week, that enduring tradition will be honoured through a special patriotic film festival, is jointly organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the National Film Archive of India (NFAI). The three-day festival, to be held from August 11 to 13 at the Tagore Film Centre in Chennai, will showcase a curated selection of landmark feature films and documentaries that have stirred national pride over the decades. The event will be inaugurated on Monday, following the opening screening of the 1965 classic 'Shaheed', which pays tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Seven feature films and four documentaries are on the festival's line-up. Among the feature films are timeless works such as 'Veerapandiya Kattabomman' (1959) and 'Parasakthi' (1952) both starring the legendary Sivaji Ganesan as well as more recent hits like 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' (2019) and 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar' (2023). Other notable titles include 'Saat Hindustani' (1969), Amitabh Bachchan's debut film set against the backdrop of the liberation of Goa, which will be the festival's closing screening. The documentary segment will feature 'Our Flag, Shahadat, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, and Tilak', each exploring pivotal moments and personalities in India's freedom struggle and nation-building journey. According to the organisers, the festival aims to connect audiences especially younger generations with films that have not only entertained but also inspired patriotism and civic pride. The screenings will serve as a reminder of cinema's powerful role in shaping and reflecting India's collective identity. Entry to all screenings is free, offering the people an opportunity to experience these classics on the big screen. "We want people to relive the stories that shaped our nation and inspired millions," an NFDC official said.
