The landscape of the American League is about to change. Although it wasn't a lock to happen, Carlos Correa has been traded.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Minnesota Twins are trading Correa to the Houston Astros. The All-Star shortstop will get to play for the team that selected him first overall in the 2012 draft.
Just a day ago, this reunion between Correa and Houston seemed unlikely. Clearly, the Astros were willing to get things done before the 6 p.m. deadline.
"The Carlos Correa-to-Houston deal looked dead 24 hours ago," Passan said. "They revisited, bridged a significant financial gap and Houston, with Isaac Paredes out for the season, welcomes home Correa, who waived his no-trade clause to approve the deal."
Correa played for the Astros from 2015-2021. He left for the Twins in 2022, agreeing to a three-year contract worth $105.3 million. It didn't take long for him to rework his contract and receive a six-year, $200 million deal.
Immediately after Passan broke the news that Correa is heading back to Houston, fans sprinted over to social media to share their thoughts.
For the most part, fans are ready to once again root against the Astros.
"Oh my," one fan said after Passan announced this trade.
"Returning to his beloved trash cans and buzzers," a second fan commented.
"This is insane," another fan wrote.
"Booing is back on the menu," a rival fan said.
"I might have to watch the Astros again," another fan tweeted.
The Astros are expected to play Correa at third base, per multiple reports.
Correa is batting .267 this season with seven home runs and 31 RBI. He's a year removed from earning All-Star honors with the Twins.
Will Correa help the Astros win their first World Series since 2017? Only time will tell.'Oh My' - Baseball Fans React To Blockbuster Carlos Correa Trade first appeared on The Spun on Jul 31, 2025

Rodríguez and Naylor go deep early, Mariners hold off White Sox 8-6

SEATTLE (AP) — Julio Rodríguez hit a three-run homer during a five-run second inning for the Seattle Mariners as they beat the Chicago White Sox 8-6 on Wednesday night. Rodríguez — who on Sunday became the first player in major league history with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in each of his first four seasons — went deep on a hanging sweeper from starter Jonathan Cannon (4-9). Cal Raleigh drove in two runs with a single immediately before Rodríguez's homer. Seattle led 7-1 after two innings, thanks in part to Josh Naylor's two-run homer in the first. George Kirby (7-5) was effective for six innings, yielding two runs and five hits while striking out nine. Chicago made it competitive in the seventh after Kirby exited, scoring three runs off reliever Eduard Bazardo on homers from Mike Tauchman and Lenyn Sosa. Rodríguez scored on Eugenio Suárez's sacrifice fly in the bottom half to make it 8-5. All-Star closer Andrés Muñoz gave up a solo shot to Michael A. Taylor in the ninth before walking back-to-back batters. Muñoz settled in from there to lock down his 26th save. Key moment The White Sox loaded the bases against Kirby with two outs in the third, but Curtis Mead flied out. Key stat Naylor is the first player with three homers and eight steals in his first 12 games with a franchise since Bobby Brown for San Diego in 1983. Up next White Sox right-hander Shane Smith (3-7, 4.25 ERA) starts Thursday afternoon against right-hander Logan Gilbert (3-4, 3.45) in the series finale. ___ AP MLB:

NFL Legend Aaron Donald Says He'll End Retirement If 1 Player Joins Rams

NFL Legend Aaron Donald Says He'll End Retirement If 1 Player Joins Rams originally appeared on The Spun. So you're saying there's a chance... It's been just over a year since Aaron Donald announced his retirement from the NFL after enjoying one of the most dominant careers in league history. From the time he set foot in St. Louis as a rookie, to the time he left the game in Los Angeles, Donald racked up 10 consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, eight first-team All-Pro selections, and the Rams' first Super Bowl trophy since "The Greatest Show on Turf." Someone who's enjoyed similar success over their first four years in the National Football League is Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons. And after requesting a trade out of Dallas last week, he seems to have lit a fire in the retired all-time great. After a picture began circulating around Instagram depicting Micah in an LA Rams uniform, Donald commented on the post and hinted toward possibly getting back out on the field if Parsons were to suit up for the blue and gold. "If [Parsons goes] to the Rams I might have to ... get in football shape," Donald said. "Wit that Dline would be unreal." Donald's comment caught the attention of Parsons himself, who instantly replied: "man!!! Don't tell me info like that!!" before tagging his agent David Mulugheta. Micah continues to sit out at Cowboys training camp as he and the team's ownership remain far apart on a long-term deal. After months of negotiations and contract talks, the 26-year-old finally reached his breaking point and requested a trade out of Dallas on Friday. "I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys," the four-time Pro Bowler shared to X. "My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally. ... I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this Americas team once again. ... Unfortunately I no longer want to be here." It remains unclear whether or not the Rams would be willing to make the necessary investment it would take to get Micah to Hollywood, but any pass rush that has Aaron Donald, Micah Parsons and Jared Verse in it would not be one opposing offenses would want any part of. We'll see if the franchise calls Donald's bluff by making the move, or goes all in on Super Bowl contention in the big 2025.
