SBI UPI services to be temporarily unavailable on THIS day. Check timings
SBI has informed that its UPI services will not be available for 20 minutes from 1:00 am to 1:20 am on August 6, 2025, due to the scheduled maintenance.
The bank's official notice on X (formerly Twitter) read, 'Due to scheduled maintenance activity, SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable from 01:00 hrs to 01:20 hrs on 06.08.2025 (IST)."
The bank further added, "Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers.'
The public sector bank has advised customers to use UPI Lite for continued digital transactions during the downtime.
UPI Lite will remain fully functional even when the main UPI channel is under maintenance, as conveyed by the bank.
UPI Lite is designed for small-value transactions, acting as an on-device wallet for faster payments. It allows users to make payments without entering a UPI PIN, particularly useful for low-value transactions and in areas with poor network connectivity.
Follow these steps to enable UPI Lite on your mobile:
Open your UPI App (Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm) Click on the home screen of the App to get the option of enabling UPI Lite.
After reading the terms and conditions, enter the amount to add in UPI Lite and select the linked SBI bank account.
Insert your UPI pin and UPI Lite will be enabled successfully.

How ChatGPT Helped This Woman Ditch Auto-Debits And Save Rs 2,028 A Month
New Delhi: While many tech leaders warn about the risks of AI chatbots, one story shows how they can actually help. A woman recently shared how ChatGPT helped her fix her finances by finding and cancelling unused subscriptions—saving her nearly Rs 2,000 a month. The story, shared on Livemint by Deepika Chelani, described what she called a 'subscription detox.' With ChatGPT's help, she discovered and cancelled forgotten auto-debits, leading to Rs 2,028 in immediate savings and a permanent Rs 603 cut in her monthly expenses. Finding the Money Leaks Chelani realised she was losing money every month to 'boring, forgettable auto-debits' for apps and services she hadn't used in months. She didn't know exactly which subscriptions were draining her money or how to stop them. She asked ChatGPT for help. The AI gave her a four-step plan to take control of her spending. First, ChatGPT suggested search phrases like 'Your subscription has been renewed' and 'Auto-debit confirmation.' Using these keywords, Chelani went through her Gmail and UPI payment history. She found recurring charges for services like Amazon Prime, Headspace, Gaana+, and Google One, and then cancelled or downgraded them. Cancelling Made Easy Some subscriptions were hard to cancel, so Chelani asked ChatGPT to write cancellation emails for her. She sent these emails to customer support, and within days, the services were cancelled. Finally, ChatGPT recommended creating a monthly 'Subscription Audit'—a quick 10-minute check to make sure she wasn't paying for things she didn't use. A Small Habit, Big Savings Chelani said, 'We focus so much on earning more money. But sometimes, the smartest move is to stop wasting what we already have.' For her, the process only needed a chat window, 10 minutes, and the willingness to clean up—and it made a lasting difference in her finances.

ICICI Bank Hikes Minimum Balance Requirement To Rs 50,000 For New Accounts, If You Don't Maintain You Must Pay Rs…..
New Delhi: ICICI Bank, India's second-largest lender, has increased the monthly minimum average balance requirement for all types of accounts. The revised rules came into effect on August 1, impacting customers across segments. According to the latest update on the bank's website, customers in metro and urban areas who opened their savings accounts on or after August 1 must maintain a monthly average balance of Rs 50,000 to avoid penalties. For existing customers, the minimum average balance (MAB) remains Rs 10,000. However, under the revised structure, metro and urban branch customers will now need to maintain Rs 50,000—up sharply from Rs 10,000. In semi-urban areas, the MAB requirement will increase from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000, while rural accounts must maintain Rs 10,000, compared to the earlier Rs 2,500. Customers who fail to maintain the required minimum average balance will face a penalty of 6 per cent of the shortfall or Rs 500, whichever is lower. The bank also offers three free cash deposits into savings accounts each month; after that, a fee of Rs 150 will be charged per transaction. The cumulative value limit is Rs 1 lakh per month. In April 2025, ICICI Bank reduced the interest rate on its savings accounts by 0.25 per cent, and savings bank accounts with deposits up to Rs 50 lakh will now earn 2.75 per cent interest. The number of complementary cash withdrawal transactions per month also remains three. The third-party cash deposit of Rs 25,000 per transaction is applicable for all savings accounts. The hike in minimum average balance by a large private lender is in contrast to other banks that have rationalised their penalties. The country's largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI), had scrapped the minimum balance rule in 2020. The majority of other banks maintain significantly lower thresholds, typically between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000. (With IANS Inputs)
