Toh, original me alag tarika tha, but isme kya hua tha ki as a villain also if I see that na, so the whole messaging changes. I was trying to figure out ki isko kaisa kare ki ekdum disgust mein badal de (There was a scene where I make my daughter dance for the whole night and she pees. Now, as a villain, if I see that it comes off with a different message. I wanted it to turn into disgust!).' How Madhavan Managed His Discomfort He further added, 'Then I covered myself with a blanket so I didn't have to see it, and I felt really relieved as an actor also that I don't have to react to that also. R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'

Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths. Akshay Kumar wasn't the first choice for Jaanwar: Suneel Darshan

Filmmaker Suneel Darshan recently opened up about the behind-the-scenes casting decisions that shaped his 1999 film 'Jaanwar'. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Darshan revealed that action star Akshay Kumar was never the original choice for the lead role. 'Jaanwar' was initially meant to feature Sunny Deol, and later, Ajay Devgn, who was almost finalised."Jaanwar was not written for Akshay,' Darshan began. 'The film was originally planned with Sunny Deol. We were nearly set to go ahead when we had a fallout over some very ugly issues. Those issues are still pending. So I decided to move forward and find someone else.'advertisementThat someone, it turns out, was Ajay Devgn - who was not only a top star at the time but also nearly finalised for the part. 'Ajay and I met on a Saturday and agreed on the film. We were supposed to finalise everything that Monday, but Sunday changed everything," Darshan recalled. On that Sunday morning, Darshan received an unexpected call. 'It was from someone I had never met before—Akshay Kumar. He was very keen to meet immediately. I invited him over, and he said he wanted to do 'Jaanwar'. He asked me, 'Would you consider making the film with me?''Darshan admits he was unsure at first. 'Akshay was going through the worst phase of his career at the time. But I thought, 'Here's a good-looking, disciplined actor willing to give 100% of himself.' He even told me, 'Sir, I will offer you 100% of myself.' That stayed with me.'advertisementDespite the commercial risk, Darshan decided to trust his instincts and cast Akshay. 'I knew I couldn't make money on his name then, but I believed in my ability to bring out his potential. I felt we'd strike a good rapport—and that would reflect on screen.'The casting of the female leads also saw some changes. Karisma Kapoor, then a reigning star, came on board with zero hesitation. 'She didn't flinch. She just said, 'Of course. Why not?'' Darshan shared. Kajol, who was also supposed to be part of the project, had to step away for personal reasons.'Kajol was initially meant to be there too. In fact, both she and Ajay were supposed to be part of the film. But as destiny would have it, Ajay and Kajol decided to get married around that time. Tanuja ji called and informed me that it would be difficult for Kajol to do the film. I appreciated her honesty and professionalism. That led to Shilpa Shetty joining the cast, and the rest, as they say, is in December 1999, 'Jaanwar' marked a turning point in Akshay Kumar's career. You May Also Like
