PMK power rift: ‘Every time we make progress, intermediaries sabotage it'
Addressing the meeting, Anbumani said that he was assuming the post out of a sense of duty and not out of desire, and blamed intermediaries for intentionally preventing any reconciliation with his father and party founder Dr S Ramadoss. Referring to one of the resolutions passed in the meeting, Anbumani said that his party is clear that the DMK should not return to power in the 2026 Assembly election. He, however, said that the party would decide on who should form the government and form a 'mega' alliance accordingly.
His remarks gather significance as it indicated that he was keeping options open about aligning with either the AIADMK-BJP alliance or form an alliance with actor Vijay's TVK, although he had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election as part of the BJP-led NDA. 'We will come to power. The alliance will be in line with your wishes,' he told the attendees, to rousing cheers.
The meeting was convened after the Madras High Court cleared the deck by dismissing the petition filed by Murali Shankar, the general secretary appointed by Dr Ramadoss amid the ongoing tussle with his son, after a day of high drama with Justice N Anand Venkatesh speaking to both the father (via video conference) and son (in person) separately in private, in a bid to resolve the dispute.
Stating that he felt no joy when he heard about the verdict, Anbumani said, 'I did not feel happy at all. I was pained. Who are we getting this verdict against? Against our own,' he asked. He added that his father will forever remain the guiding force of the party and said he will surely join the rest present at the meeting soon. A chair reserved for the party's founder, Ramadoss, was placed vacant next to Anbumani at the meeting.

He further said that roads were improved and electricity was provided during Nitish Kumar's tenure as Chief Minister, but he failed to provide education and employment. "During Nitish's rule, roads were improved, and electricity was provided, but people did not get employment, and migration did not stop. Nalanda has definitely developed more than other districts, but the poverty of the people here has never been eradicated. "Till now, no provision has been made for education and employment for the children of the people here," Kishor said. Earlier on August 3, Kishor criticised the Election Commission over the alleged removal of names from the electoral rolls but asserted that "those whose names remain on the voter list are enough to remove BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar" in the upcoming assembly elections. The Jan Suraaj founder also launched a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, saying that he has no issues to talk about. Yadav has claimed that his name is missing in the draft electoral rolls of Bihar. Kishor said, "Tejashwi Yadav has no issues to talk about; there is no doubt that the Election Commission is removing people's names... but those whose names remain on the voter list are enough to remove BJP and Nitish Kumar, how many names will they cut? ... The people of Bihar have decided that they want employment, not empty speeches... no one is going to fall for false promises; those whose names are not on the list will fight the Election Commission, the Election Commission is not the master; the people are the masters. Whoever the people vote for will win." Taking aim at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Kishor accused him of "mocking" the people of Bihar in Delhi. He also accused Gandhi of showing indifference when Biharis are "attacked" in different states. Notably, assembly polls are due later this year.

BJP Minority Front to present Dr Kalam Startup Youth Awards to 27 young innovators on Yuva Diwas
The Morcha received over 22,300 entries from across all of India's minority communities. Out of these, 1,300 were shortlisted for further evaluation. Following a comprehensive and transparent screening process conducted by a jury, a final list of 27 recipients was selected based on innovation and other defined criteria. Among those selected are youths from the Muslim, Christian, Jain, and Sikh communities. When asked, the national president of BJP Minority Morcha, Jamal Siddiqui, confirmed the award event, scheduled for 12 August. Meanwhile, sources within the BJP stated that the event will be attended by BJP national office-bearers, Union Ministers, and various dignitaries from different fields. The final recipients were chosen from seven zones across the country, designated by the BJP for the purpose of this award. The states from which recipients have been selected include Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, and others. Sources further told this newspaper on Sunday that the highest number of 408 entries were received from Maharashtra's minority sections, followed by 126 from Uttar Pradesh, 58 each from Karnataka and Gujarat, 49 from Chandigarh, and 38 from Jammu & Kashmir.
