It's time to get automatic, systematic and hydromatic. Grease The Musical looks set to come to Dubai Opera. Get ready for some spectacular singing, dancing and a dose of summer loving. The dates have not yet been confirmed, but here's what we do know.
On Dubai Opera's Instagram account, it shared a teaser post. The image showed the silhouette of Grease The Musical's famous characters, Danny and Sandy. The pair are outlined in bright neon colours, and seen moving into different dance moves. The caption reads: 'Slicked hair, rebel hearts — the soundtrack to your endless summer nights. A musical vibe is coming. Can you feel it?'
Grease went from the stage to screen, and boasts fans of all ages. The original musical was created by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. In 1972, the production came to Broadway, in 1973, it came to the West End, and it continues to be revived around the world.
Most people will know Grease, thanks to the 1978 movie of the same name. The film stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing and Jeff Conaway. Set in the 1950s, it first shows Danny and Sandy having a summer romance. They part ways and then find themselves in the same school, Rydell High School.
Grease contains hit after hit song. The score includes Grease Lightnin', Hopelessly Devoted to You, Summer Lovin', and You're the One That I Want. Hopelessly Devoted to You was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
