Senior Muslim scholars express appreciation for King Salman's patronage of MWL Islamic conference
MWL will host the second edition of the Global Conference for Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects on March 6-7 in Makkah, Saudi Press Agency announced on Tuesday.
The conference will bring together leading muftis, scholars, intellectuals, and representatives from senior Islamic councils, jurisprudential academies, and religious institutions across different sects and denominations.
It will serve as a unified platform for fostering constructive dialogue among diverse Islamic traditions as well as coordinating efforts and resources to strengthen Islamic unity, while ensuring mutual respect for doctrinal diversity.
Al-Issa explained that members of the organization confirmed that King Salman's sponsorship of the event is an extension of Saudi Arabia's role in strengthening Islamic solidarity, especially among Muslim scholars of various sects.
Al-Issa added that members of the league's Supreme Council, Jurisprudence Council, and World Supreme Council for Mosques praised the Kingdom's influence and its influential and respected word among Muslim nations around the world.

Charitable group Ensan's schoolbag project targets 16k children
RIYADH: The Charitable Society for Orphan Care, Ensan, will provide bags this year for 16,007 students at 22 schools in the Riyadh governorate. Ensan has allocated over SR3.2 million ($853,000) for the project, with each bag costing SR200, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday. The money for the bags and stationary needs will be deposited into the bank accounts of parents and guardians. Ensan has other projects to help children including providing tutors, and transport to and from school. The organization also assists in getting young people scholarships, and admission to universities, colleges and specialized institutes. Heritage festival serves up Baha's beloved muqana bread
RIYADH: Each region of the Kingdom preserves customs passed down through generations. Muqana bread is a staple of Baha's traditional cuisine, and local artisans prepare the dish at markets and heritage festivals, 'drawing large crowds,' according to a Saudi Press Agency report. Recognized as the region's official dish by Saudi Arabia's Culinary Arts Commission, muqana bread is prized for its distinctive flavor. At the recent eighth Alatawelah Heritage Festival there was a muqana pavilion, at which visitors could watch the bread being made. Traditional bread maker Ahmed Al-Shuyukh explained that the dough, made from wheat flour, is flattened into a circle, baked on a heated rock, then covered with a clay or metal lid and buried in hot ash and embers until cooked. This traditional method gives the bread a distinct smoky flavor and crisp texture, and it is often served with ghee, honey, or yogurt, Al-Shuyukh told the SPA. The festival 'supports local artisans in the preservation of folk heritage, and promotes cultural tourism,' according to the SPA. Another section of the festival 'celebrated the traditional work of women, showcasing their historic contributions to family and community life,' by featuring presentations of food preparation, wool spinning, basket and mat weaving, and firewood collection. 'Young girls demonstrated these skills for visitors, offering a glimpse into rural life of the past,' the SPA added.

Final rounds of King Abdulaziz International Qur'an Competition open in Makkah
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Al-Sheikh inaugurated on Saturday the final rounds of the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Qur'an at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the competition brings together 179 contestants from 128 countries across five continents. The six-day finals are being held in morning and evening sessions, with judging conducted by an elite panel of international referees. In his opening address, Al Al-Sheikh welcomed participants and attendees, stressing that one of the Kingdom's greatest honors is its service to the Qur'an and recognition of its memorizers, a tradition upheld since the era of the Kingdom's founder, King Abdulaziz, through to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He said the ministry takes pride in organizing the event, where competitors strive to perfect their memorization, recitation, and interpretation of the Qur'an in the holiest site in Islam, quoting the Qur'anic verse: 'And in that let the competitors compete.'Al Al-Sheikh noted that the ministry has set clear, transparent judging criteria and selected a panel of referees from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Uganda, and competition's total prize fund stands at SR4 million, in addition to SR1 million in financial gifts for all his remarks, he prayed for the late King Abdulaziz, expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continued support of Qur'anic service, and wished success to the judges and event then moved to the recitation stage, with participants delivering readings across the five competition categories before a large audience of competitors, companions, and worshippers at the Grand Mosque, in an atmosphere filled with the sound of the Qur'an.
