AICC Leaders Visit Sri Jogulamba Temple on Amavasya; Participate in Chandi Homam with Devotees
Among the notable attendees were prominent leaders from the Indian National Congress (INC). AICC Secretary and Telangana In-charge Mr. Viswanath, accompanied by AICC Secretary and former Alampur MLA Dr. SA Sampath Kumar, paid a solemn visit to the temple and offered prayers to the deities. The leaders were joined by Telangana Finance Corporation Chairman Mr. Deepak John and District Observer Mr. Venkatesh, who also took part in the spiritual proceedings.
The Chandi Homam, a powerful Vedic ritual dedicated to Goddess Durga (Chandi), is traditionally performed to invoke divine blessings, seek protection from negative influences, and ensure prosperity and peace. Held on the auspicious new moon day (Amavasya), the ritual witnessed enthusiastic participation from the devotees, temple priests, and spiritual seekers.
The leaders also interacted with devotees and temple authorities, emphasizing the importance of preserving Telangana's spiritual heritage and supporting temple development initiatives. Speaking on the occasion, former MLA Sampath Kumar expressed deep reverence for the temple's historical and spiritual significance and pledged to support its continued growth and preservation.
The presence of key political figures at the event added a distinct prominence, blending devotion with public engagement, and underlining the cultural importance of the Sri Jogulamba temple, which is one of the Astha Dasha Shakti Peethas of Goddess Shakti.
Temple authorities thanked the visiting dignitaries and devotees for their participation and concluded the day's rituals with traditional offerings and blessings.

State's next CM will be BC: PCC chief
Hyderabad: The PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud affirmed that Telangana will see a person from Backward Classes as next Chief Minister. He said that while emphasising that present CM A Revanth Reddy will hold office and continue this term, while crediting him for bringing the party to power in the State which he said was acknowledged by AICC. During an informal media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan while asserting that the Congress would remain in power for at least next two terms, Mahesh Goud said that BC leader could possibly become next CM of the State. He announced that the Janahita Padayatra which received 'good response' in Phase-I, will resume after August 23. He claimed a BC leader would be Telangana's next CM and dismissed rumours of a differences between him and CM Revanth Reddy. PCC president did not clarify as to why the padayatra was being delayed until August 23, but clarified that that the event was originally his idea. He alleged that vested interests had falsely portrayed it as an AICC incharge Meenakshi Natarajan initiative. He said that initially, the plan was to conduct a bus yatra but later the party changed it into a padayatra. Claiming that the Janahita Padayatra, similar to Bharat Jodo Yatra, was a big hit Mahesh Goud expressed confidence that not only the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and but also LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi may also join in the upcoming legs of yatra.

Telangana Congress to launch second phase of padayatra on Aug 23
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday announced that the second phase of Jana Hitha padayatra will commence from Aug 23. The first phase was deemed successful, with the majority of petitions submitted focusing on opening the window for inclusion of new applicants in the Cheyutha monthly pension welfare scheme. Speaking informally with the media at Gandhi Bhavan after participating in the rerun of Rahul Gandhi's recent PowerPoint presentation on Bihar special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by EC, Mahesh Kumar Goud clarified that the padayatra was being conducted by him and not AICC in charge Meenakshi Natarajan, who would only participate as the chief guest. "Initially, I had proposed a bus yatra, but later we decided to take out a padayatra. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers and other important leaders of the party will also participate in the padayatra in due course of it," he added. He dismissed as intentional malicious campaigns the rumours of a rift between him and Revanth, saying, "We enjoy a cordial relationship and are united in our fight for implementing 42% reservations for BCs. After becoming the CM, Revanth is working only for the welfare of the people and development of the state. There is a lot of change in him compared to that when he was the TPCC president." He remarked that the silence of BC MPs of BJP would be a great loss to the community on the 42% quota issue, and alleged that BJP was managing even EC after misusing ED, IT and CBI against opposition parties. India backs Like-Minded Group; opposes global phase-out list in plastics treaty talks
GENEVA: For the first time in the global plastics treaty negotiations, India has openly opposed the inclusion of any global list with phase-out dates under the article on plastic products — a move that puts it squarely alongside Kuwait and the Like-Minded Group (LMG) of countries that includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Iran. Speaking at the second part of the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5.2) in Geneva, Vir Vikram Yadav, Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board and member of India's delegation, warned that such provisions would have 'larger implications in respect of the right to development of Member States' and should be avoided. 'The instrument needs to have a clearly defined scope… Separate article on supply or any measures to regulate the production of primary plastic polymers has larger implications… Similarly, inclusion of any global list with phase-out dates under the article on plastic products should be avoided,' Yadav told the stocktake plenary. India also reiterated that all decisions should be taken by consensus and that the treaty's scope should focus strictly on 'addressing plastic pollution only' as mandated by the 5/14 resolution, without overlapping with other multilateral bodies such as the WTO or WHO. The stance aligns with Kuwait's call, on behalf of the Arab Group, for a 'party-driven process' and for avoiding irreconcilable issues, as well as with Iran's rejection of stand-alone texts on scope, supply, and exemptions. This bloc has resisted broadening the treaty's mandate to include production caps or health provisions and has pushed for more procedural control by member states.
