Eliminating drugs, giving jobs to youths AAP's priorities: Arvind Kejriwal
Addressing the gathering in Sangrur during a function to mark Punjab's accomplishment in the NAS, Kejriwal said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him to be a part of this historic day in the education sector of Punjab.
He said that due to efforts of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state has delivered an outstanding performance in the National Achievement Survey 2024 (NAS). Kejriwal said that it 'is a real revolution as the teachers who used to protest climbing water tanks during the previous regimes are today interacting with the Chief Minister to achieve such ranks.'
He said that the state government has provided congenial atmosphere and the teachers have duly utilized it to excel in every sphere so that the students can be immensely benefited from it. Kejriwal said that the previous governments had exploited the government teachers due to which studies were adversely affected but things have seen a paradigm shift now.
Kejriwal said that NAS is a big achievement but it is not the ultimate goal of his government which intends to ensure the well being of every person. He said that the certificate of the people that the state government has brought education revolution in the state and other fields is the real acknowledgement for him.
Kejriwal said that eliminating drugs, imparting quality education to youth and ensuring job/ business for them are the three major thrust areas of the state government.
He said that the teachers should take responsibility that the students are weaned away from menace of drugs.
Kejriwal said that the properties constructed from the drug money have been razed to dust by the bulldozers. He said that those who had ruined the future of generations are now getting the punishment for their sins and these leaders who had patronized the drug trade are being put behind bars.
Extending special thanks to the teachers, principals, and staff of the education department, he said that their hard work, dedication, and commitment have made this achievement possible.
Kejriwal said that Punjab's achievement in NAS-2024 will be recorded in the annals of history adding that the most significant aspect is that this survey was conducted by the Government of India—not by Punjab. Kejriwal said that this nationwide survey was conducted by NCERT in collaboration with states and Union Territories in December 2024, involving thousands of students from across India.

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that the support they received during the Ludhiana West and Gujarat by-elections clearly indicates the AAP will form governments in both states in 2027 with a massive majority. The Ludhiana and Gujarat bypolls were semi-finals for the 2027 Assembly elections, he said. Speaking at a 'Dhanwad Sabha' in Ludhiana, expressing his party's gratitude to the voters after the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election victory, Kejriwal said, 'In Gujarat, considered a BJP stronghold, the AAP candidate won the bypoll by more than 17,000 votes. This made the BJP so furious that they immediately arrested one of our MLAs.' 'No matter how much the BJP tries to intimidate us, AAP will not be afraid. The more the BJP oppresses us, the stronger the public support will be for the AAP,' he said. The AAP has 92 members in the 117-member Punjab Legislative Assembly and four in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly. 'In the past three years, AAP has done lots of work in Punjab, and the Ludhiana West victory is the public's stamp of approval on that work,' he said. Targeting the Congress and the BJP, Kejriwal said that they no longer had any issues of public interest left with them. The former Delhi chief minister said, 'AAP talked about education, healthcare, roads, electricity, water, and drug de-addiction in the Ludhiana West by-election, but opposition parties harped only on one thing that Kejriwal should not be allowed to go to the Rajya Sabha.' 'They spread a rumour that Kejriwal wants to go to the Rajya Sabha only to mislead the public. Immediately after the pypoll result, I held a press conference and made it clear that I won't go to the Rajya Sabha,' Kejriwal said. 'The BJP and the Congress are colluding with each other. Just like in Delhi, both parties are jointly opposing AAP in Punjab, too,' he alleged. Accusing the previous Congress and Akali-BJP governments of 'proliferation of drugs' in Punjab, Kejriwal said, 'Both governments ruined the youths by trapping them in drug addiction, while the AAP government launched a war against drugs, and strict action is being taken against drug peddlers and they are being sent to jail.'

HC asks Centre to respond to AAP's plea seeking relief from rent
The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Centre to respond to a plea by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the demand for rent for its party office in Vithalbhai Patel House. The notice was issued in response to a fresh petition in an ongoing case based on the party's challenge to the Centre's decision cancelling the allotment of a suite in the residential-cum-office complex to AAP. The court directed the authorities to file their response within two weeks and posted the matter for July 22. AAP told the court that the Directorate of Estates, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, cancelled the allotment of a suite on September 14, 2024 and that the party was informed about the decision on January 17 this year. AAP has contended that the decision was made without prior notice, and even after it vacated the office on April 30 this year, it was illegally charged ₹8 lakh as rent. After AAP's counsel urged the court to stay a reminder notice on June 20 demanding the rent, the Centre's lawyer said the matter was not urgent as only a notice had been issued. The Centre assured the court that it would proceed in line with the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act.

Punjab govt plans to introduce ‘robust law' against sacrilege
Ludhiana: Cabinet minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora announced on Monday that the Punjab govt is set to introduce a "robust law" to prevent acts of sacrilege, ensuring that no individual dared to desecrate religious texts or symbols. Speaking to mediapersons during a visit to the Sudhar Trust in Khanna, alongside cabinet ministers Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Harbhajan Singh ETO, Arora highlighted the need for stringent measures to protect Punjab's religious harmony. He referenced past incidents, such as the Bargari-Behbal Kalan sacrilege a decade ago, which disrupted peace. "With this new law, we will ensure that such acts are deterred through strict legal consequences," Arora asserted. Arora reiterated that the state govt, under the leadership of chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to restoring Punjab's prosperity. He emphasised that every decision made by the Mann-led govt is driven by a commitment to the progress, welfare, and betterment of Punjab's people. Arora also issued a stern warning to those exploiting Punjab through violence, corruption, or drug trafficking.
