Scouting For Girls' Roy Stride doesn't hold a grudge against Noel Gallagher for branding them 'Scouting For Idiots'
The She's So Lovely hitmakers are playing the Britpop group's biggest rival Blur's bassist Alex James' Big Feastival on August 22.
Back in 2008, an ever-mouthy Noel gave his opinion of popular artists of the time, including Scouting For Girls, during an interview on BBC Radio 1.
Quizzed by Contact Music if he ever retaliated, frontman Roy Stride said: 'I would never retaliate.
'He was like a God. Did it hurt? Not really. I never heard it. My wife heard it live on radio because I think he said it on Radio 1, but she was like, Oh, he basically sounded like he'd been out all night and he came in, and was just reviewing every single band, and he was just saying that about every band. I've never met him since.
'You can see on my vinyl here. And I've got, yeah, I've got everything. I've got Oasis and Blur.'
Asked if he was lucky enough to bag a ticket to Oasis' first tour in 16 years - which kicks off on July 4 in Cardiff - he said: 'I have one, but I didn't get it in the original bout. I was like, there for eight hours. I spent my entire day in a bad hotel room trying to get tickets. But I've since managed to get one because I'm currently in LA and so I've got one for the Rose Bowl in California, which is going to be quite a mad thing, because I can't imagine seeing Oasis in California.'
Scouting For Girls have a busy summer ahead, and a tour in 2026, while they have a new album on the way.
Roy says they are gunning for the 2026 Easter number one with the follow-up to 2023's The Place We Used to Meet.
He said: 'The album's not going to come out till next Easter, and we're going for Easter number one, because This Ain't A Long Song was Easter number one. And nobody ever dreamed of having an Easter number one before or since.'

Oasis support act Cast's frontman John Power reveals Liam and Noel Gallagher are 'hunky-dory' on tour
Cast frontman John Power says there is a "positive energy" between former enemies Liam and Noel Gallagher on the Oasis Live '25 Tour. The Liverpool band are supporting the Manchester legends on their first tour in 16 years, and the former La's rocker says the pair 'seem to be in an absolutely wonderful place'. He told Vulture: 'They both genuinely … well, of course they want to be there, but you can feel the positive energy. It's all going hunky-dory.' John also heaped praise on frontman Liam - who has suffered with vocal issues in the past - for "whatever he's doing" to keep his voice on "top form". He said: 'He's very, very focused at the moment. 'I know that this tour means a hell of a lot, if not the world, to him. He's doing everything to make sure that he can go on. The worst thing is if you're tired, because your voice gets knackered and a bit strained. He's in top form at the moment. Whatever he's doing, he's doing the right things because his voice sounds absolutely wonderful.' Liam and Noel have been walking out onstage each night hand-in-hand in a display of union. The pair had been estranged for 15 years, following a backstage bust-up between the pair at their final concert in Paris in 2009, but reunited in the same room in 2024. As for Liam's top notch vocals, he and Noel Gallagher are said to be using straw phonation. The Britpop icons are said to have a ton of paper straws backstage to blow into to keep their voices warmed-up before each gig on the mammoth sold-out jaunt - having both been plagued with vocal issues in the past. A source told The Mirror: 'Noel and Liam are doing everything in their power to ensure they sound at their very best for these mammoth sold-out shows. It is well know that Liam has had issues with his voice in the past and he has found straw phonation to be a great way to warm-up his vocal cords. 'Noel has been an advocate of it for years since he had issues with his voice when he supported U2 on tour in 2019. It has made a huge difference to how he sings. There will be plenty of paper straws backstage for the brothers, but they won't be used to sip cocktails.' Wonderwall hitmaker Noel has previously confirmed how he came to use a straw to warm-up his vocal cords. Speaking on The Matt Morgan Podcast in 2022, Noel said: 'When I was on tour with U2 and there was a lot of parties. "At one point, when we were in Australia, my voice was shattered, it was in a bad way. We'd been out late the night before and we had a gig the next day and I woke up and my voice was f***** and wasn't coming back. 'So, I went to see a vocal specialist in Melbourne. I go in there and the guy says, 'Sit down Mr. Gallagher, so I believe your voice is a bit crook?' I said, 'Yeah. It's a bit f*****, I've been on the road for a couple of years.' 'Do you warm up before you go on stage?' I said, 'A bit, but I don't really like belting it out.' To cut a long story short he gave me this straw, just a normal paper straw, and he said, 'Half an hour before you go on, in your room, put some music on and put this straw in your mouth and just hum along to whatever comes on and your vocal cords will warm up.' I went, 'Really?' And he said, 'Just try it mate, it will change your life.' I did and it's an amazing little trick. 'I was a bit sceptical, but it really does work."

Rocking on: How GemLife's musical residents are making life sing
When you think about retirement, what comes to mind? For GemLife Gold Coast resident Guy Scruton, it's starting a three-piece rock band dubbed The Gemtones. The best part? He doesn't have to imagine it – he's already living it. 'The Gemtones get together every Wednesday afternoon, but these days we're also meeting on weekends, so the community can come down and enjoy their time with us,' explains Scruton, who performs out of his garage alongside bandmates Trevor Rix and Mark Parry. Although he dabbled in music all his life, it wasn't until Scruton and his wife Cathy moved to GemLife Gold Coast, a luxury over-50s resort in Pimpama, mid-last year that he picked up the keyboard and saxophone once more. When Scruton discovered that Rix, his next-door neighbour, sang and played guitar, and that Parry, who lives across the street, was also learning guitar, sparks began to fly. 'Rehearsing became a feature in the street,' Scruton says. 'People within earshot would come and sit down with their eskies, then people from other areas got wind of it and started coming too. We've now performed for larger celebrations like Christmas, New Year's Eve, Australia Day, Melbourne Cup and Easter.' While The Gemtones may have found fame as a garage band, the trio (who cover hits from the 1950s through to the 2000s), will soon take centre stage at GemLife Gold Coast's new multimillion-dollar Country Club. 'We'll start doing rehearsals there and once a month we'll rock on in the club, so everyone gets to dance and have a good night,' Scruton says, adding that the band has become quite the social movement. 'Creating new friendships has been a delight,' he says. 'We all have different stories and interests and come from different walks of life, but we're all like-minded people.'
