Where is Coronation Street set and where is the ITV soap filmed? All to know

Yahoo06-04-2025
Most fans know Coronation Street is based in the fictional and often drama-filled town of Weatherfield – but where is it really set?
Corrie is one of the most popular programmes on TV, having been on air since 1960. In fact, it's the longest-running soap in the UK.
It was previously filmed at Granada TV studios in the Castlefield district of Manchester for more than 50 years, but recently changed location.
So, where is the ITV soap filmed now? Let's find out.

For the last 11 years, the Corrie set has been based at MediaCity in Salford, just outside of Manchester city centre.
The set has been purpose-built for the soap and has been home to the cobbles since 2014.
To make the new filming set at MediaCity, 400,000 bricks were used to recreate the beloved neighbourhood - 144,000 of them were reclaimed from a derelict row of properties in Salford, The Guardian previously reported.
The newer set was also built 80% of 'real life size' compared to 60% at the old location in the city centre.
Meanwhile, the streets are now almost a metre wider to allow cars and fire engines to pass more easily - rather useful for all the emergencies in Weatherfield.
Viewers might have noticed The Rovers Return has a new window upstairs to indicate the right number of bedrooms.
"So that Steve and Liz McDonald don't have to share with Michelle any more", said executive producer Kieran Roberts at the time.
He described the set move (which took two years to plan) as "the biggest, most dramatic change in the show's history".
But best of all, you can see the latest Corrie set for yourself – as the soap offers an exclusive tour, the Coronation Street Experience.
The experience's website shares: 'Once the cast and crew head home after a week of filming, we open the doors for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Manchester's most famous street.

'Ridley' Season Three: The Possible Returning Cast And Release Date

Season 2 of ITV's Ridley is still ongoing and while we're just at the halfway point of the gritty crime drama, we wouldn't blame you for already wondering if a third season is on the cards. Since the release of the second series on 10 August, the show has claimed its place at the top of every British detective fan's watchlist – joining the ranks of Dept Q, Slow Horses and The Day of the Jackal. But, as the season edges ever closer to its finale, fans have been left with one burning question: will Ridley continue to take over our screens with another thrilling chapter? With the show's mix of slow-burn excellence, high tension and complex characters, there's no doubt that the series has potential for more. Here's everything we know about the potential return of Ridley. As it currently stands, ITV has not yet confirmed whether there will be a third season of Ridley. However, during a recent interview with Country & Town House, Bronagh Waugh, who stars as DI Carol Farman, stated the following: 'There are plenty of [plot] ideas if we are lucky enough to get a third series.' Waugh also went on to add what she'd like the potential third season to cover. 'I think it would be really interesting to keep delving into the detectives' private lives as well as the cases,' she said. 'So let's see what happens…' Of course, Ridley wouldn't be the same without its titular character Alex Ridley, who is played by Adrian Dunbar. Therefore, if a third season is on the cards, there's no doubt that he'll be back, so long as there are no conflicts in Dunbar's schedule. Alongside him, viewers would also expect to see the return of Bronagh Waugh (DI Carol Farman), Georgie Glen (Dr. Wendy Newstone), Terence Maynard (DCI Paul Goodwin) and George Bukhari (DC Darren Lakhan). As nothing has yet been confirmed, the possible release date is unknown – but given that season one first premiered in the UK in August 2022, and the second season was released in August 2025, the third season would likely premiere in August 2028. TIFF Officially Selects October 7th Documentary ‘The Road Between Us' Amid Outcry

EXCLUSIVE: The Toronto Film Festival said Thursday that it will invite to its 50th edition Barry Avrich's October 7th documentary The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue, two days after organizers rescinded their invitation for it to appear in the Documentary lineup of this year's festival. In the days following TIFF's decision to uninvite the movie about retired Israel Defense Forces General Naom Tibon, several groups including the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation and the Creative Community for Peace expressed their upset over the fest's refusal to book the documentary. More from Deadline TIFF Pulls Invite For October 7th Documentary 'The Road Between Us'; Filmmakers Say Fest Has 'Censored Its Own Programming' TIFF Boss Says Festival Never Rejected 'Road Between Us' Docu Due To Censorship; Legal Team Working With Filmmakers On Options International Insider: Paramount's Week One; Cillian On 'Steve'; Channel 4 Chuckles 'We have worked together to find a resolution to satisfy important safety, legal and programming concerns. We are please to share that The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue will be an official TIFF selection at the festival this year, where we believe, it will contribute to the vital conversations that film is meant to inspire,' read a joint statement from TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey and Avrich this evening. The Road Between Us follows how Tibon embarked on a mission to save his family, including his two granddaughters, who were surrounded by Hamas terrorists during the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Tibon also rescued survivors of the music festival massacre and helped wounded soldiers on his journey to save his family. The festival, which planned to put the film in its Documentary lineup, said it withdrew its invitation on Monday 'because general requirements for inclusion in the festival, and conditions that were requested when the film was initially invited, were not met, including legal clearance of all footage,' which included footage shot through body cameras worn by Hamas attackers. TIFF said the requests were sought to 'protect TIFF from legal implications and to allow TIFF to manage and mitigate anticipated and known risks around the screening of a film about highly sensitive subject matter, including potential threat of significant disruption.' The filmmakers, who said they had complied with many of TIFF's requests, said they were 'shocked and saddened that a venerable film festival has defied its mission and censored its own programming by refusing this film, adding that they 'are not political filmmakers, nor are we activists; we are storytellers.' The move drew strong reaction from groups who called on TIFF to reverse the move that the filmmakers described as 'censorship.' On Wednesday, Bailey refuted that idea. 'I want to be clear: claims that the film was rejected due to censorship are unequivocally false,' he wrote in a letter addressed to members of the TIFF community. 'I remain committed to working with the filmmaker to meet TIFF's screening requirements to allow the film to be screened at this year's festival. I have asked our legal team to work with the filmmaker on considering all options available.' Below is tonight's joint statement from Bailey and Avrich: Dear Members of the TIFF Community,Over the past 24 hours, there has been much discussion about TIFF's decision to withdraw its invitation to The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue for this year's festival. Both TIFF and the filmmakers have heard the pain and frustration expressed by the public and we want to address this have worked together to find a resolution to satisfy important safety, legal, and programming concerns. We are pleased to share that The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue will be an official TIFF selection at the festival this year, where we believe it will contribute to the vital conversations that film is meant to this case, TIFF's communication around its requirements did not clearly articulate the concerns and roadblocks that arose and for that, we are TIFF and the filmmakers have always been committed to presenting diverse perspectives and a belief in the power of storytelling to spark and encourage dialogue and understanding. We thank our audiences and community for their passion, honesty, and belief in the importance of film. We look forward to announcing more details including the World Premiere date on August 20th.— Cameron Bailey, CEO, TIFF & Barry Avrich, Filmmaker, The Road Between Us:The Ultimate Rescue Patrick Hipes contributed to this report. ‘Lioness' & ‘The Madison' Poised For Renewals As New Paramount Brass Praise Taylor Sheridan & He Opens New Texas Campus With 101 Studios

Taylor Sheridan's name came up a lot at the Los Angeles press event this week with the new Paramount leadership as virtually every top executive hailed the prolific creator's business as a top TV asset of the combined Skydance-Paramount Global company. 'On Paramount+ today, we have a really great foundation, which is the Taylor Sheridan universe,' Paramount's Chair of Direct-to-Consumer Cindy Holland said. More from Deadline International Insider: Paramount's Week One; Cillian On 'Steve'; Channel 4 Chuckles David Ellison's Paramount Takes Gloves Off In 'Top Gun: Maverick' Script Suit As Third Flyboy Flick On Deck Duffer Brothers In Talks With Paramount For Massive Deal - The Dish Paramount CEO David Ellison called Sheridan 'a singular genius with a perfect track record.' Every Taylor Sheridan show to date has performed well and, outside of those designed as limited series, they have gone to multiple seasons, with all except mothership Yellowstone still ongoing. That will continue with new seasons for Yellowstone spinoff The Madison and Special Ops: Lioness, sources tell Deadline. It would be an early Season 2 renewal for The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, ahead of its series debut on Paramount+, and a long-awaited Season 3 pickup for Lioness. Its star Zoe Saldaña already had a deal in place spanning three seasons but co-star Nicole Kidman had to make a new one for Season 3, which was a contributing factor to the delay, sources said. The new seasons will film at the new 450,000 sf production campus in Fort Worth Texas' 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development. It was recently launched as a partnership between SGS Studios, Sheridan's company with 101 Studios CEO David Glasser; Paramount Television and Hillwood, a Perot Company. Filming at the campus — the largest operating studio facility in Texas — began in March 2025 on the upcoming second season Sheridan's drama Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton. Glasser, whose 101 Studios co-produces all Sheridan series alongside Paramount TV Studios, revealed that Landman Season 2 is one of four shows that will shoot in Fort Worth this year, with The Madison Season 2 slated to begin filming in September, followed by Lioness Season 3 in October. Sheridan's current deal with Paramount goes to 2028. Ellison confirmed to Deadline that the company would be happy to extend it. 'We can just make this his home for as long as he wants to tell stories,' he said on stage earlier. The Madison is billed as a heartfelt study of grief and human connection, following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana. Sheridan executive produces with Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, Pfeiffer and Keith Cox. Lioness is inspired by an actual U.S. military program that follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror. The series is executive produced by Sheridan, Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Burkle, Yari, Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Cox.
