‘We've had no threats': Law firm operator believes bullet hole was not meant for his business
Phil Millar of Millars Lawyers told CTV News London he is unsure why a window in the third-floor office he leases was hit by gunfire sometime after 11 p.m. Tuesday.
'We've had no threats I'm aware of,' he said during a brief telephone conversation.
London police were called to 1886 Oxford St. W., at the intersection with Westdel Bourne, shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
An employee had noticed the bullet hole.

No one was hurt.
A retail worker at a nearby business stated police investigators were on the scene for several hours. He added a drone was also flown over the office building several times.
Meanwhile, a business owner in the same office complex as the shooting stated he was unnerved by the incident, adding such occurrences are uncommon in the upscale area.
The case marks the second time in less than a week that police have assigned a shooting case to its Guns and Gangs Section.
On Friday, June 13, officers responded to an address on Emerald Road after a garage and a vehicle were struck by bullets.

Sentencing hearing delayed for former Woodstock mayor on sexual assault charges
The once mayor of Woodstock, Trevor Birtch, appeared for his sentencing hearing on two counts of sexual assault on Friday at the London Courthouse without any counsel, after his previous lawyer was disbarred. Minutes after the hearing got underway on Friday, Justice Spencer Nicholson adjourned the proceedings to give the 50-year-old Birtch time to obtain a new lawyer. The proceedings were put over until next month. About a year ago, Birtch was found guilty on two counts of sexual assault involving a woman he was romantically involved with. Another sexual assault trial involving a female he had a relationship with, ended in a mistrial. That case is expected to be retried in court. Birtch has also been convicted of impaired driving in the Woodstock area. The charges and convictions date back to between 2017 and 2023. Birtch, a two-term mayor, held office in the city of Woodstock between 2015 and 2022.

Police watchdog clears Toronto police officers in fatal shooting of teen
Ontario's police watchdog says it has found no reasonable grounds to believe two Toronto police officers committed a crime in the fatal shooting of a teenage boy during a traffic stop. The Special Investigations Unit says a Toronto police officer stopped a car with six people inside on Sheppard Avenue the night of April 20 when there was a shootout involving a male occupant. It says the male fired a shot at an officer and two officers fired back, and both the male and police shot multiple rounds. The SIU says the male, who was later identified as a 16-year-old from Toronto, was struck by gunfire. It says he was taken to hospital and later died from his injuries. The SIU says the officer's use of gunfire constituted reasonable force, and there's no basis for proceeding with criminal charges in the case.

A shooting near a mosque in Sweden leaves 1 dead, police say

(Filip Gronroos / TT via AP) BERLIN — A shooting near a mosque in central Sweden on Friday left one person dead and one injured and police said they believe it was linked to gang violence. The shooting took place in the parking lot outside the mosque in the central city of Örebro in the early afternoon following Friday prayers, police said. The victim was a 25-year-old man who was shot dead leaving the mosque, and the man injured was also in his 20s. Many emergency services were at the scene, and police advised the public to stay away. Roberto Eid Forest, head of the Örebro police, said at a press conference that at least one perpetrator was seen leaving the scene. The police are now investigating murder, attempted murder and aggravated weapons offenses, according to the Swedisn news agency TT. For years, Sweden has grappled with gang violence, and criminal gangs often recruit teenagers in socially disadvantaged immigrant neighborhoods to carry out hits. Local TV news channel TV4 said there has been tension between two rival gangs in Örebro recently.
