Springfield man dies in Union County crash
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Springfield man succumbed to his injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle on Sunday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. on US-33 in Union County.

Investigation revealed a motorcycle was traveling southbound on US-33 when the rider attempted to pass in between two vehicles that were also traveling southbound. The motorcycle hit one of the vehicles, a Chevrolet Spark, causing the rider to be ejected and the Chevy to overturn several times before coming to rest in a ditch.
Both the motorcyclist and driver sustained serious injuries and were sent to the hospital.
The driver of the Chevy was then transferred to the Ohio State University Medical Center, where he later died. He's been identified as Jonathan Wallace, 67, of Springfield.
OSP was joined on scene by the Union County Sheriff's Office, Allen Township Fire Department, and Med-Flight.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and police say both drivers were wearing appropriate safety equipment, like seat belts and helmets.
The crash remains under investigation.

Mizer, of West Lafayette, died of her injuries on Saturday, June 7, according to the patrol. The driver of the Malibu, who troopers said caused the crash, suffered only minor injuries, according to the release. North Carolina trio steals $32K worth of lawnmowers from Eureka Dicky Bubb
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two men and a woman from North Carolina have been charged for allegedly stealing six lawnmowers from a Dicky Bubb Farm and Home in Eureka, Missouri. According to court documents, Devon Reid, 27; Roberts Knotts, 36; and Angel Williams, 29, stole $34,244 worth of lawnmowers from Dicky Bubb, located at 100 Hilltop Village Center, on April 11. The store manager told police the zero turn riding lawnmowers had been stolen in the early hours of the morning after watching surveillance video of Reid and Knotts allegedly cutting the lawnmowers loose and taking them between 2:40 and 3:30 a.m. 8-year-old injured in Baden shooting; 1 man dead Court documents said they were accompanied by Williams earlier in the day around 5 p.m. at the same store to purchase multiple chainsaws and one zero-turn lawn mower. Surveillance video showed the three suspects verbally giving the clerk multiple credit card numbers to purchase the items; some of the cards were declined. The Eureka Police Department reports two credit cards were fraudulently used to purchase the items, totaling nearly $8,000. After the transaction, the three suspects were seen leaving the store in a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, which was the same vehicle used in the early hours of April 11 to steal the additional lawnmowers. A large U-Haul was also seen attached to the Chevy truck, which police said was rented in Fenton, Missouri. Police reviewed surveillance video from the U-Haul that confirmed it was Reid and Knotts seen at Dicky Bubb's the next morning. The Chevy and U-Haul were later tracked arriving in Gastonia, North Carolina, a few days later. The Gastonia Police Department contacted Williams at her home, where the same U-Haul trailer was found. Man pleads no contest to manslaughter, DUI in Pioneer Dr fatal crash
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of driving drunk when his SUV collided with a car in east Bakersfield has pleaded no contest to a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to court records. Gabriel Coronel, 33, also pleaded no contest to DUI causing injury in connection with the fatal crash that occurred last year on Pioneer Drive east of Denison Lane, records show. He faces seven years and eight months in prison, prosecutors said. A sentencing hearing is scheduled next month. Early on Feb. 17, 2024, Coronel's Chevy Traverse collided with a Honda Accord. The Honda had four occupants. Three were found unconscious by California Highway Patrol officers, according to court documents, including a woman in the front passenger seat who was later pronounced dead. Coronel told investigators the Honda veered into his lane, but physical evidence revealed the westbound Chevy crossed the yellow line and collided with the eastbound Honda, according to the documents. Breath tests revealed Coronel's blood-alcohol content at 0.12 and 0.13%, above the 0.08% legal limit, documents said.
