Outlander fans think Jamie's fate is sealed as Diana Gabaldon reveals final book name

Daily Record02-05-2025
The author of the books unveiled the name of her last novel and gave an explanation.
Last night, Outlander fans were left concerned for their favourite character Jamie Fraser as Diana Gabaldon unveiled the title of the last book in the Outlander series. Fans have been desperate to know the name of the tenth and final book, where Claire and Jamie's love story will be concluded.
And now, Diana gave fans a teaser of the new novel but revealed that it doesn't yet have a publication date. The books and the series differ slightly and the final series of the show has already been filmed.

The title of the book is A Blessing For A Warrior Going Out which made fans think something is going to happen to Jamie, however, Diana said that is not the case.

In a Facebook post on her page, Diana explained: "I thought I'd let you know what the title of Book Ten is (so we can stop calling it Book Ten, which is slightly boring…).
"First, A Word of Warning: THE BOOK IS NOT FINISHED. IT HAS NO PUB DATE (because the publishers wisely won't set one until they have the full manuscript in their eager hands).
"I AM STILL WRITING IT. YES, I DO KNOW HOW IT ENDS. NO, I'M NOT TELLING YOU.
"NO, YOU CAN'T ORDER IT YET, BECAUSE THE PUBLISHERS DON'T HAVE PAGES SET UP FOR ORDERS BECAUSE THERE IS NO PUB DATE AND BECAUSE I HAVEN'T TOLD THEM WHAT THE BOOK IS CALLED. Until now.

"The title of Book Ten of the OUTLANDER series (and yes, this is the final book of the main series, though there may be other companion books and side stories, depending on how long I live…) is A BLESSING FOR A WARRIOR GOING OUT."
However, she followed up with: "(NO, that doesn't mean Jamie's going to die. It's not a death blessing, it's the Blessing of St. Michael, said for a warrior about to go and do something important and possibly dangerous. There are quite a few people in this book who qualify for that blessing, believe me…)"
Diana then goes on to reveal an extract from the book, we're not one to give away spoilers so you can read the full thing here.

However fans flocked to the comments to try dissect the meaning behind the title.

Another wrote: "Oh wow! That is really interesting title! Much to think about."
Another said: "I'm absolutely thrilled! Thank you for the title reveal and the excerpt. This made my week."
One added: "What a fabulous title. So much comes to my mind when I read it."

Russell Grant's horoscopes as Virgo could uncover something interesting

Today's horoscope forAugust 14 sees one star sign will have a fantastic day for social, family and business communications, while another is told to offer strength and support to those around them. Today's daily horoscopes for each star sign can be found below. These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant who has been reading star signs for more than 50 years. ‌ Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20) Ongoing arguments make life difficult. The situation won't change unless someone does something about it. Whether it means ending a commitment and walking away or persuading a colleague to take on additional responsibilities, you need to look at how to bring this matter to an end, once and for all. ‌ Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21) You're annoyed because you haven't the time to fit in everything you had planned to do. If you don't complete all that you intended, don't be hard on yourself. You will keep at it tomorrow and the day after until the work gets done. There's no doubt about that. ‌ Gemini (May 22 - June 21) You are ready to get started on new plans. These will relate to finances, your job and your current assets. You will also get a chance to be involved in a group project that's focused on children in the community. You have some great ideas and when you feel so enthusiastic you can be very convincing and persuasive. Cancer (June 22 - July 23) You could find yourself talking with someone who is creative, skilful and yet also quite eccentric. Ideas are shared that you will want to consider more fully when you are on your own. A neighbour is drawn to you due to your interest in unusual topics. Leo (July 24 - Aug 23) You will find out something new during a casual conversation. Although someone who loves to gossip will want to prolong a discussion, you will be keen to break away in order to make a few more enquiries about something they happened to say that intrigues you. Virgo (Aug 24 - Sept 23) After some quiet delving you could uncover something interesting. Whereas some people around you are being too open about their intentions, you will take a step back to do some quiet research or discreet learning. It may even be just some online browsing that brings you the answer you are looking for. Libra (Sept 24 - Oct 23) You're listening attentively to what other people are saying, suggesting and planning but you aren't going to reveal your own thoughts. You might need more time to come to a decision or you may already have some hidden plans in the works and you will continue to keep these a secret. Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 22) A chat with a woman in a position of authority, either a senior colleague or older relative, could turn out to be quite interesting or unexpected. At least one thing they tell you will take you by surprise. If you are getting involved in a friend's plans later, at least ensure this suits your interests too. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 21) If you aren't making travel plans you could be looking to start something new in the areas of publishing, law, medicine or higher education. Once you have decided on this, you won't be distracted from your aims. Conversations about shared property and other people's resources are likely to go smoothly. Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 20) You can't complain about being bored when there is so much happening around you. It is your choice as to whether or not to get involved. Even just watching what is going on can be entertaining. It's a good time for learning something new. Talking with an influential person will leave a lasting impression on you. ‌ Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19) Discussions and interactions with others will be interesting, insightful and uplifting. People will react positively to your ideas and suggestions. You will want to share more due to their favourable responses. It's a fantastic day for social, family and business communications. Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20) Your attention is turning towards the needs of your family and other loved ones. If someone close needs help in organising their finances, health needs or basic routines, you will be happy to assist. Your children and loved ones need your strength and support and you intend to be there for them.

The Magician of Tiger Castle by Louis Sachar review – whimsical fantasy in a kingdom long, long ago

The American author Louis Sachar's most celebrated book, 1998's YA novel Holes, was a huge word-of-mouth success on both sides of the Atlantic. Its short, punchy chapters tell the story of plump, hapless Stanley Yelnats, sent to a summer camp for wayward boys, where a terrifying Warden has peculiar ideas about character reformation. The 5ft-deep holes the boys are required to dig turn out to have a surprising purpose. Shifts of time, register and perspective render a simple premise mesmerisingly intricate. It has peril, love, crime, wickedness, redemption and friendship in, well, spades. A quarter of a century later, Sachar has written his first supposedly adult novel, in which many of the same ingredients reappear. A man 'dressed like a typical American tourist', but with an odd habit of storing cake crumbs in the pocket of his hoodie, has arrived at the castle of the title, filled with curiosity to see how much has changed in the past 500 years. He seems to know intimate details about daily life back then in the court of King Sandro, Queen Corinna and the headstrong teenage princess, Tullia. Anatole, the king's bumbling magician and alchemist, was fast losing prestige due to his abject failure to turn black sand, brought in from Iceland at huge expense, into gold. But the magician evidently achieved one stunning success, for Anatole is our present-day narrator. Grisly legends have built up around the castle, as eagerly related by the tour guide, but are full of errors. Anatole decides to recount the real story. This former contemporary and rival of Leonardo da Vinci, now an immortal wanderer, explains how the near-bankrupt kingdom of Esquaveta depended for survival on a dynastic marriage between Princess Tullia and Prince Dalrympl of wealthy Oxatania; his betrothal gift of a tiger gave the castle its name. But Tullia loved Pito, a young scribe. Incensed, Dalrympl demanded that Pito be beheaded during the wedding feast. Anatole was tasked with ensuring the royal wedding went ahead and thus saving the realm. Timid and compromised, he brewed various bizarre concoctions supposed to inspire love and delete memories, but became embroiled in the lovers' situation, especially after recognising Dalrympl as the swine who caused the death of Babette, his own sweetheart. The portrayal of science in the period is lightly comical but never patronising. Although he can't conceive of a building block of matter any smaller than a grain of sand, Renaissance-era Anatole is almost on the point of discovering penicillin via his experiments with mouldy bread. In the present day he has centuries of scientific discovery to call upon; all the same, he muses, is the notion of the four humours any more fantastical a metaphor than the periodic table? Operating at the birth of modern science, Anatole had it both ways, creating effective medicines while also commanding respect as a controller of evil spirits. Despite a daring escape, pursuit and the threat of retribution, the air of whimsy throughout mitigates any sense of genuine peril (and we obviously know Anatole survives). Just as in Holes, Sachar knots plot threads together in unexpected and satisfying ways. There's a dash of Patrick Süskind's Perfume in Anatole's experiments, but without that novel's sombre heft. If the narration were given over to Tullia or Pito, this would be a standard YA novel; but then we'd be without the pleasures of Anatole's long view and his gentle scepticism about love, war, human nature and politics. Father of Kelly Clarkson's ex assistant speaks out saying Brittney Jones and Brandon Blackstock were 'soulmates'

The father of Kelly Clarkson 's former assistant Brittney Marie Jones, who was dating her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock before his death, claims they were 'soulmates.' Blackstock died from the skin cancer melanoma at age 48 nearly one week ago. Jones' dad broke his silence on the matter in a Facebook post that has since been made private. 'Yesterday we lost a good man, Brandon Blackstock, my daughter's soulmate, and I considered him my son,' he wrote on a now private post, seen by Page Six. 'My sincere condolences to Brittney Jones and family. We're sure going to miss your funny humor. R.I.P hoss!' Blackstock's online obituary, released on Tuesday, revealed that he had been in a relationship with Jones and was quietly building a new life with her in Montana, previously unknown to many fans. 'After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,' the obituary read. 'He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.' It went on: 'Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.' In a bombshell revelation, a December 2024 report on Blackstock and Jones' rodeo business listed Jones as Clarkson's 'former assistant.' A prior LinkedIn profile for Jones highlighted in the report reveals she served as an executive assistant to Brandon Blackstock as well as an assistant to Kelly Clarkson while Blackstock managed the singer. 'I successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson under manager, Brandon Blackstock in Los Angeles for music and television,' the profile read, according to The Sun. 'After a change in management for Ms. Clarkson, I transitioned to Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock's cattle operation in Montana, where I currently run the office and handle administration work. 'I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.' Jones' LinkedIn also identifies her as the Executive Assistant of V Bar V Cattle Co. LLC — formerly Vintage Valley Ranch — one of Blackstock's companies, further tying her to his post-divorce life in Montana. A representative for the family confirmed Blackstock's death in a statement on Thursday, August 7, which read: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. 'We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' In a statement shared online on Wednesday, August 6, Clarkson revealed a health-related issue with Blackstock forced her to postpone her Las Vegas residency. 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' she wrote. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. 'I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,' she concluded. The exes — who split in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2022 — shared daughter River, 11, and son Remy, nine. In addition to Kelly and their kids, the talent manager is also survived by his pregnant daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.
