Cruise services on Yamuna river expected to begin in November
'Delhi is fully geared for cruise service. The work has been awarded and a jetty is under construction. The services are expected to start in November. Delhiites will soon be able to enjoy a cruise ride from Sonia Vihar to Jagatpur,' Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said.
Total five agencies - Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC), and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department have signed a MoU for the ambitious project.
The DDA will provide a land for the development of a jetty, while the Irrigation and Flood Control Department will offer navigational aids and shore facilities with charging infrastructure for the cruises, officials said. An official said the ticket pricing is yet to be finalised. 'In the initial phase, two cruises will be deployed. Since it will be winter, we expect a good response,' official further said.

New Delhi: DDA will get a total station survey conducted to locate and assess its vacant or encroached upon lands in south and southwestern regions for consolidation purposes. DDA primarily owns properties in south and southwest Delhi, while in other areas, most of its land was given on lease. The authority recently released tenders for conducting the survey of vacant land parcels within its jurisdiction. The project, valued at Rs 1.6 crore, aims to develop detailed site plans and inventories using precise survey equipment, with completion expected within a year of commencement. The concessionaire should have seven years of experience in carrying out such works. Following the identification of such lands, the authority may launch anti-encroachment operations to reclaim possession of lost or encroached properties. The tender document specifies that the selected organisation will conduct a thorough survey using total station instruments to precisely measure and map vacant land plots. New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday announced that it had achieved its highest-ever single-day ridership on August 8, 2025, with 81,87,674 passenger journeys recorded across all operational corridors. The milestone came just a day before the Rakshabandhan festival, when travel demand typically surges across the National Capital Region. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), DMRC said it had operated 92 additional train trips on August 8 to cater to the increased passenger flow. For August 9, the day of Rakshabandhan, the corporation scheduled 455 extra trips to provide convenience to commuters. 'DMRC achieves the highest-ever passenger journeys on August 8, 2025, with 81,87,674 journeys across all lines. To meet the Rakshabandhan travel demand, DMRC ran 92 additional trips on 8th Aug and operating 455 extra trips on 9th Aug for passenger convenience,' DMRC posted on X.
