
Abu Dhabi Department of Energy delegation visits Singapore
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi stated: 'This visit reflects the DoE's commitment to advancing efficiency and sustainability across Abu Dhabi's energy sector by leveraging distinguished international expertise. Singapore serves as a forward-looking example in regulatory oversight and technological innovation. During our visit, we aimed to expand the horizons of technical and regulatory cooperation in a way that supports the Emirate's aspirations for a more secure, efficient, and resilient energy system.'
Meanwhile, His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Alsheebani, Executive Director of the Petroleum Products Regulatory Affairs Sector, stated: 'The DoE endeavors to support Abu Dhabi's strategy focused on creating integrated infrastructure, adaptable procedures, and efficient oversight for petroleum products trading. This aligns with sustainable economic development trajectories and reinforces the Emirate's standing as a global energy center.'
Throughout the visit, the delegation familiarized itself with the procedures in place, along with the regulatory, technical, and operational policies and practices concerning the buying, selling, transporting, storing, distributing, and importing of Natural Gas, LPG, and petroleum products. The visit program also featured field tours of a number of companies active within these sectors.
A series of meetings with various government entities and premier institutions, complemented by several site visits, were conducted by the delegation. Engagements included the Energy Market Authority (EMA), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Customs, the Crisis Management and Control Center, and regulatory authorities responsible for safety and technical standards. Additionally, meetings were held with leading companies like Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC), Senoko Energy, City Energy, Vopak, Singapore Power Group, JTC Corporation, and Gas Hub Pte Ltd. These engagements were intended to strengthen cooperation within regulatory domains, facilitate knowledge exchange regarding policies, apply optimal safety and sustainability practices, and encourage compliance with global standards.
The visit's findings are projected to contribute to the development of increasingly integrated and preemptive regulatory policies, enhancing the effectiveness of the Emirate's energy system while keeping abreast of worldwide trends concerning energy security, the shift towards carbon neutrality, and the automation of systems. This contribution is set to strengthen Abu Dhabi's pioneering role in the adoption of international best practices throughout the energy sector.

Azizi completes 70% work on Riviera Beachfront I project
UAE-based Azizi Developments has announced that 70 per cent of the work has been completed on its premium Beachfront I project in Riviera, its French Mediterranean-inspired waterfront community in MBR City, Dubai. Giving a project update, Azizi said the project's structure is fully ready, with blockwork and internal plastering standing at 98 per cent completion. Tiling works have reached 50 per cent, while HVAC and MEP installations stand at 83 per cent and 68 per cent, respectively. Façade works are at 29 per cent, external works are at 15 per cent, and overall finishes have progressed to 49%, it stated. Supported by a workforce of 3,200, construction remains firmly on track for completion in Q4 2025, it added. Group CEO Farhad Azizi said: "Beachfront in Riviera is rapidly taking shape, showcasing our dedication to delivering communities that perfectly blend sophistication with functionality." "As we move closer to completion, our focus remains on surpassing the expectations of our valued investors and end-users, while further enriching Dubai's skyline with developments that will stand the test of time," he added. Abu Dhabi – The Global Talent Attraction and Retention Committee, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade and Minister in Charge of Global Talent Attraction and Retention, met to discuss the latest initiatives within the second phase of the National Talent Attraction and Retention Strategy 2024-2027. The second phase of the National Strategy for Talent Attraction and Retention 2024-2027 includes a set of initiatives that will be jointly implemented by the relevant authorities at all levels, from the federal government to local governments to private sector institutions. The initiatives will work to attracts professionals who specialize in targeted economic sectors, launch global promotional campaigns that consolidate the UAE's mission to be the home of exceptional talent, and organize a number of international events that seek to attract and develop talent in all targeted economic sectors. The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation; the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; the Ministry of Community Empowerment; the Ministry of Culture; the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security; the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center; the Abu Dhabi Residents Office - Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi; the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai; the Emirates Scientists Council; and the Emirates Council for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transactions. The Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talent meeting is part of a continuous efforts from various ministries and government agencies to achieve the national goals of the "We are the UAE 2031" vision. This directive aims to enhance the country's global competitiveness as a hub for knowledge and innovation, enabling high-growth companies to attract the brightest minds and talent so that they may contribute to building an economy of the future, bringing the country sustainable growth and prosperity. During the meeting, the members of the Global Talent Attraction and Retention Committee exchanged views and ideas on potential new projects and initiatives, as well as the latest global developments in the field of talent attraction, alongside the best practices adopted by leading countries. According to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) Global Talent Competitiveness Report 2024, the UAE ranked 17th globally and 1st in the Arab world, surpassing a number of major developed economies, after jumping 5 places compared to 2023. It also advanced in the 'Gravity" Index to 12th place, and the 'Readiness' Index to 2nd place globally. The UAE Cabinet approved the second phase of the Global Talent Attraction Strategy 2031 at the beginning of 2025, which will focus on key national priorities including enhancing the competitiveness of talent in the UAE, highlighting the UAE as a business destination, enhancing a sense of belonging in the country, and consolidating the future stability of global talent. Target sectors for talent attraction include technology, renewable energy, healthcare and biotechnology, logistics and aviation, advanced industries, financial services, food and water technology, and the creative economy.
